ABC Kids - Tracing & Phonics reviews

A free RV AppStudios learning app where toddlers learn letters, trace them and pick up phonics; parents worship it for being ad-free and free, while shaky tracing tech and missing languages remain the sore spots.
What users love
"Free and ad-free" is the number-one reason parents stay
Over and over, parents thank the app precisely for being free and ad-free: no pop-ups for a child to accidentally tap, no subscription needed to start learning.
I love that you do not have to pay to learn
my daughter loves it! one of the only apps I let her play because there is no risk of her clicking on a pop up add!
I cannot afford to pay for apps, and these apps are inspiring my kid to learn more, thank you
Kids genuinely learn letters and writing — and fast
Parents and grandparents report a concrete outcome: the child learned the alphabet, learned to write letters and recognise words, sometimes as early as age 1–2; learning through play doesn't stress the toddler.
she learned how to read and write letters at 1 year old
my son loves this app and he has improved with identifying words and writing.
I cannot belive how educational it is my kids already know their abc's!!!
A safe, risk-free environment lets parents relax
Parents value how safe the app is for kids: no ads to tap, no data collection, a parent mode. It's one of the few apps they hand to a child without hovering.
Very nice and safe App for kids, thanks Dave, I really appreciate your efforts and projects, a father of three kids salutes you.
Love that it has a parent mode and love how many different fun activities they have
thank you for a safe ad free app for my daughter.
Kids genuinely engage and play for a long time
Toddlers don't get bored, play for months, come back again; the app holds attention better than YouTube and replaces videos with learning. Parents note the bright visuals and the variety of activities.
this is super good, my kids never get bored and the results are amazing on basic learning
thank you for sharing my son he love it so much now no more YouTube he can play and learn with it
He really engages with the game and characters and could play for hours!
Works offline — learning without internet or data cost
Several users specifically note the app works offline and doesn't burn mobile data; that matters where connectivity is costly or absent, even in regions without kindergartens.
Thank you so much for this ad-free app for kids. You can also use this app even when you're offline.
it helps kids to learn more without data
Highly recommended these apps they are absolutely great and free and plus side can be played offline!
Rewards, certificates and progressive levels keep motivation up
The rewards-and-certificates system and stage-by-stage levels give the child a sense of achievement and fit different ages; parents like that there are apps for kids who outgrow this one.
Love it, free, no ads easy to earn rewards and certificates. My son has so much fun learning with this app.
And she received a certificate.
it's a good kid friendly app with progressive stages. They also have for other ages in case your child outgrows this one
What users hate
The tracing game accepts wrongly drawn letters
The core mechanic — letter tracing — misfires: letters can be drawn wrongly across the screen and the game still accepts them, while the trace 'doesn't complete' when followed correctly. It undermines the teaching value.
Alphabets can be drawn wrongly across the screen, yet the game accepts it.
It is confusing for children to write letters, they are not directly complete when followed Write
unclear to the randomness of characters. the matching game ended with the a word being spelled.
Crashes and freezes, especially after updates
Some users complain the app crashes, freezes or stops opening at all — sometimes right after an update or on specific devices like the Tecno Spark 10; the character freezes and only repeats one line.
Very poor app, keeps crashing and wasting time.
great app, but app has stopped working now 😭 please help app won't open on Tecno Spark 10
this app stop running at anytime please improve the quality of this game or app
Missing Tamil and other languages frustrates users
A visible cluster of low ratings comes from a missing native language: Tamil (called the oldest), Dutch, Arabic. Users point out other languages are supported but theirs isn't, and it reads as a snub.
Why is it not available in the Tamil language? All other languages are there, what happened to Tamil?
Other apps under RV AppStudios have Dutch language support but this app doesn't.
we want to Arabic language in this app.
Jump to a $15/mo subscription angers long-time users
Users who knew the app as free for years react badly to paid pricing: $15 a month is called a ridiculous price that drags an otherwise five-star app down.
back then it was free with no ads. such a shame they decided to charge $15 per month now that's ridiculous!
OMG THANK YOU! phew you saved me so much money and frustration not to mention no adds
The sticker collection goes blank and resets after one game
A specific gamification bug: the sticker collection screen goes blank and white after a single section and doesn't persist even after updating — costing the app what would have been a five-star rating.
The collection stickers goes blank after one game if not I would have given it 5 stars even after updating it. it still goes white blank after one section please fix it
Requests to show stroke direction when writing a letter
A constructive ask from loyal users: the tracing animation shows how to draw the line only once; they want the stroke-direction hint to repeat until the child completes the letter — it would help small kids a lot.
it is now, draws only one time. if it is made to repeat it unless the kid complete that line. this will be very useful for small kids.
I will also suggest a small improvement in the animation for showing how and where to draw the line while writing the alphabet
