Airbrush: Face Photo Editor reviews
What users love and hate, from real reviews
A mature face-retouch and photo-enhance editor that users loved for years for its natural results, but whose recent updates turned long-time subscriber loyalty into anger over paywalls, daily limits, and subscriptions that won't restore.
What users love
Natural, non-fake retouching is the core reason people love it
Users praise subtle, realistic edits that fix small flaws without turning the face into a plastic blur. Many judge every other editor against this one.
I can refine touchups without looking like I'm a freakish blur. Excellent for detailed fixes
they dont look fake they look really nice
Affordable and very realistic. Doesn't look fake.
Restoring old and blurry photos brings memories back to life
The most emotional strength: the app restores old, damaged and blurry photos of loved ones who've passed. For many this is irreplaceable memory, not just editing.
Older blurry pictures came back to life and look very clear without changing the beauty of what was in the photo
It's brought back damaged photos of family and friends who've passed — irreplaceable memories I thought were gone forever
have been used to restore a ton of old photos
An easy, friendly interface — even beginners edit effortlessly
A constant theme of praise: an intuitive interface packed with tools delivers fast results and suits novices and pros alike. For many it's their favorite daily editor.
Easy to use, brilliant app for quick editing of photos
making the editing process not only efficient but also enjoyable
its user friendly with an endless amount of different features and effects
What users hate
A paid subscription stops being recognized, and "restore purchase" does nothing
After updates the app suddenly treats an active paying user as unsubscribed and demands payment again. The "restore" and "purchase" buttons do nothing; only reinstalling sometimes helps — and lately not even that.
it says subscription is active but the app keeps saying I don't have a subscription
I hit "purchase premium" (even though Ive already paid for it) but nothing happens... I hit "restore premium" but nothing happens
it keeps saying I'm not subscribed when I am in fact a paid user. I hit restore purchases and it doesn't fix the issue so I have to uninstall and reinstall
Features that were free for years got moved behind a paywall
Long-time users are furious that basic tools like spot removal, once free, now require a subscription. The free version feels gutted and pointless without paying.
now i need to pay for something that was once free how does it make sense?
they have made most things premium now and its just a joke
Used to be free. Now all my favorite features require a subscription. Pretty annoying
Paid Pro has a hidden daily usage limit
Paying subscribers hit a "you've reached your Pro limits" wall mid-edit and must wait until tomorrow. Calling the tier "unlimited" feels like a lie.
I got a notification that says "you've reached your pro limits" excuse me?
DO NOT GET THE UNLIMITED PRO SUBSCRIPTION, ITS NOT UNLIMITED THEY ARE LYING
Why the hell am I paying and still capped at 25 pics per day?
The AI Replace tool broke in an update: it edits the whole photo instead of the selection
The once-loved AI Replace now distorts the entire image instead of the selected area, throws errors, or returns 2 nearly identical garbage options instead of the old five.
Instead of only modifying the selected area, it is adjusting and distorting the entire photo
now it gives error messages mostly, and when it rarely works, the results are GARBAGE and you only get 2 options that are extremely similar
bring back the old ai replace, this new one is trash
Filters stop loading; only restarting the app helps
A recurring bug: while cycling filters the preview stops updating and shows the original. The only fix is to force-close the app, losing all editing progress.
the filters keep disappearing every time I try to check each one and the only fix is to restart the app
it doesn't show changes you click on - specifically filters. Shut down app, open up again every 10 seconds to see
after you look at a few it will just stop loading them at all, and only shows the original image with no filter preview
Pricing spiked sharply, especially the shift to weekly billing
Veterans who paid ~$4 a month now face $4.99 a week and yearly plans up to $80. The price jump with no loyalty reward pushes many toward competitors.
I've been paying 4.99 a MONTH. Now, suddenly you want 4.99 a WEEK?
$5 a week is insane. hypic is better anyway.
$5 PER WEEK is insane
Double and unauthorized charges on the card
Users report being charged two or three times a month, and being billed with no subscription at all. Refunds are near impossible to get, turning complaints into fraud accusations.
just realized i am getting billed twice a month from this app.
this app will consistently and constantly double, triple, quadruple, etc charge your card each month
The creators DOUBLE CHARGED me back to back days i.e. Oct 16th and 17th
Support goes silent for weeks, even for paying users
When subscriptions break, users email support and wait a week for a reply, get canned responses, or hear nothing. Paying status buys no faster help.
I have contacted customer service, but no one is getting back to me, even though I paid for 1 year in advance
I can't get anyone from Support to help me and I have a paid subscription
customer service absolutely tragic. Was waiting for 1st response for a week
Intrusive video ads and a black-screen bug wipe out progress
Saving a photo or unlocking a feature forces a video ad that often freezes to a black screen with no close button. Users must exit and restart the whole edit.
The insufferable video ads just to save your photo to your gallery. It crashes now due to ads you can't close even after viewing.
screen completely changes to black screen with tiny ad in corner that you can't close or go back from
As soon as youve edited & watched ads the black circle just persists & you have to start over
New censorship and narrowed capabilities frustrate long-time creators
Responding to law changes, the app now blocks some content and removed hairstyles and options people used for years. Users feel the company decided to be their "nanny."
I have a real problem with having a company decide their my nanny
good job with the updated censors. whereas the site was previously quite middling, now it is just useless
they just removed a lot of hairstyles
