Amazon Shopping reviews
What users love and hate, from real reviews
The default everything-store that many people rely on as their only realistic way to buy anything delivered to the door — which is exactly why the forced AI search, broken delivery promises, and unreachable support sting so much.
What users love
Unmatched selection: finds what local stores don't have
The main reason people stay: Amazon has the rare and locally-unavailable — manga, G7 LPS figures, books in a small town, things not even stocked in big states. For many it's the irreplaceable everything-store.
i love the convenience of shopping with my ebt card on here
Best place to find what you need. Delivery known in advance. Fast, easy, and dependable. My favorite place to search and shop.
I use this app to buy g7 lps that arent out in nz or i cant find in stores because I live in a small town
A lifeline for people who can't easily get out
For elderly, disabled and busy people, delivery to the door is a genuine lifeline: they can get everything they need without leaving home. Many call it indispensable and thank Amazon for their quality of life.
Amazon is my go to for shopping if you are disabled
I am unable to go out much so I am so grateful for Amazon. There is so much I buy and get delivered right to my door.
usefull when can,t get out or too busy to stop and shop when out
When it works, returns and Prime delivery are painless
For satisfied users the experience is smooth: free, hassle-free returns, reliable two-day Prime delivery, and the right item to the right address. To them Amazon is still the "gold standard" of online retail.
really easy to order and never any problems returning.
The gold standard for online retail. Massive selection, reliable tracking, and consistent customer service.
Great selection. Great prices. Prime benefits are outstanding!
What users hate
Forced Alexa/Rufus AI hijacks search with no way to disable it
By far the loudest complaint: a normal search opens an AI page that restates what you typed and pushes sponsored items instead of showing products. To get real results you wait for it to load and press a separate button, and there's no off switch even though Amazon claims there is.
very irritating that I can't disable the "alexa for shopping" feature.
you search the store and instead of search results it redirects you to a 3IQ bot trying to explain your search to you while shilling some sponsored products
New Alexa AI search is invasive to shopping experience. There are no settings to turn it off eventhough they claim you can.
AI and a heavy update made the app slow, freezing and crashing
Even on flagship phones search takes "forever", pages sit blank for minutes, and the app freezes or crashes. Many tie it directly to the added AI, which they say eats resources and bandwidth.
the AI slop garbage they've added to the app has made it extremely slow even on a high-end phone.
since the latest update the apps unusable. when searching for an item, say DVD Shelf, it'll just sit on a blank page with no info for several minutes.
Constant performance issues. Crashes all the time, draws an unreasonable amount of processor and battery power.
Prime promises 1-2 day delivery, but packages show up late
People pay for Prime for guaranteed fast shipping, yet dates keep slipping: the promised date changes after you've paid, "next day" becomes a week, and a refund only comes if it's more than a week late.
I pay for prime.... which comes with guaranteed 2 day shipping... not once have yall been successful in providing that.... packages arrive days later past your guaranteed mark
before you purchased you get info next day delivery after purchase they change delivery time for 3 days later!!!!
terrible service, prime is a scam, nothing ever delivers in two days, always delays. do not trust them!
Support is AI bots and dead-end links; you can't reach a human
Reaching a real agent is nearly impossible: the AI chat leads to dead-end links, refund promises go unfulfilled, and agents stall the chat until it closes. Some say support isn't even an option until an order is marked delivered.
Can't even contact real associate anymore. As time passes I've noticed they made it more and more difficult to contact someone.
they spend too much money on AI service that doesnt actually help real problems customers have and then its like pulling teeth to speak to a real human
customer service does nothing but lie, they will say whatever you want to hear to get you off the chat or call then never deliver with what they say.
Orders get auto-cancelled, and refunds are slow or never come
Orders cancel themselves for no reason, sometimes repeatedly, and money gets stuck: one person lost $200 with no refund, others wait 7 days or are refused outright. Uploading an ID with a promised "3-day fix" drags on for weeks.
The app constantly cancels my orders automatically for no reason.
the rest of my orders for it keep getting cancelled and I was not refunded I have lost $200 because of this.
why every 1st order got cancelled even 2nd also and refund take 7 days to return
Login, verification and account recovery have become a maze
The app logs you out constantly, verification wipes your progress when adding an account, demands an old phone number you no longer have, and makes you wait 24 hours after filling out forms. Some would rather pay competitors because giving Amazon money got too hard.
App logs me out all the time. I updated the app. It logs me out all the time.
Every time I get the code and then open the app again it refreshes and deletes all the progress I have made in adding my account to my phone.
they require me to verify with an old phone number I have no access to anymore
The app dropped support for tablets and older Android
People who shop from a tablet or older device got cut off: the app is "no longer available" for their tablet, only installs on other devices, and stops working on Android 11/12/14. They refuse to upgrade hardware just for this.
I have an android 11 tablet that I use for shipping and they removed the app for my tablet. I am not upgrading my tablet and I do not want to shop on my phone.
got a new tablet and I can't use Amazon! WTH! What idiot decided to not make Amazon compatible with tablets?
I have old Android devices 12 and 14 this app no longer works.
Product and review feeds are sliding toward Temu-style junk and fakes
Search surfaces dropship brands and "Temu junk" at inflated prices, reviews are botted, and the new version shows only 10 reviews per product — mostly 5-star — which users see as a push toward impulse buying.
too many fake reviews the quality of items are getting worse and drivers not following delivery instructions
now I give them one star because all they sell is teamu junk at super high prices.
You can now only see 10 reviews for each product, and only 5 star reviews in those 10. this is obviously to promote impulse buying
Core UX strips familiar features: price filter, dark mode, screenshots
Small things that break the routine: price filtering removed, still no dark mode (when every rival has one), you can't screenshot without a "share" pop-up, and the orders list is a mess with no way to mark something received.
Taking away filtering by price will make me much less likely to buy in the future.
Amazon is the only app that does not have a dark mode to this day despite literally every other shopping app having one built in.
Can't take a screenshot without their pop-up prompt to share via other apps. Makes it impossible to compare descriptions & specifications.
