Body Tune - Face Photo Editor reviews
What users love and hate, from real reviews
An AI photo editor for trying on hairstyles, makeup and looks that lures people in with a "free" entry, hides almost all its value behind a subscription, and leaves them stuck with charges they can't stop.
What users love
When it works, it gives subtle, realistic retouching
People for whom the app works praise exactly its naturalness: edits look realistic, no "phony AI" look, teeth whitening is precise, the face looks younger. For basic photo touch-ups and business/passport shots they're happy with it.
Remarkable, very accurate, no AI phony looks. Pictures were Passport authentic only better.
Allows subtle editing which looks realistic.
Best teeth whitening app... very natural and precise.
An easy, fun tool for changing your look
Fans love how simple and enjoyable it is to try things on: easy to swap outfits, hairstyles and looks, easy to navigate, plenty to play with before a real-life decision. For them it's one of the best photo editors out there.
It does an incredible job. I have been waiting for an app that could help you change outfits and hairstyles well.
AWESOME AND EASY TO NAVIGATE LOOKS & STYLES. DEFINITELY HELPED ME FIND THE RIGHT LOOK FOR ME PERSONALLY!
Works really well, no nonsense stuff and not overdoing it on any feature.
What users hate
Cancelling doesn't stop the charges
The single loudest complaint: people cancel (often the same day, often immediately), and the money keeps coming out — weekly, monthly or quarterly. The subscription frequently doesn't even appear in Google Play's subscription manager, so there's no normal way to cancel, and refunds are routinely refused.
Scam, even if you unsuscribe, app is charging subscription. Avoid downloading it!
Blocks you from cancelling your subscription. Mine does not appear on the Google Play subscription management page and there is no other way to cancel.
Canceled through Google play and they have been charging me 49.99 quarterly anyways.
"Free" is a paywall from the first tap
The app downloads free and is advertised that way, but you can't actually use it: a subscription screen appears immediately and won't let you past without paying. People feel deceived — "just say it costs money".
free app to download, pay to use. scummy just say it costs money. 10/10 shame
it would not let me into the app past a purchase screen it would not let me do anything unless I purchased a subscription
first issue this can be downloaded for free, but you have to subscribe to actually use it
The free trial bills you with no warning
People sign up for a 7-day (or 30-day) free trial and get charged immediately or before it ends — with no clear reminder. The amounts are large ($40, $61, 2,200 pesos), often money meant for bills, and they can't get it back afterward.
charged $61.01 after free trial without clear reminder. refund was denied despite not using the service. subscription timing and billing were confusing.
they say 7 day trial except they charge you immediately and there is no way to get a refund.
The amount of 2,200 pesos was automatically deducted from my account, even though that money was intended for my bill payments.
The hairstyle try-on barely exists
The main reason people install — trying on new hairstyles — is exactly what fails: there are only about 10-12 styles, nearly all long and nearly identical, with no men's cuts at all. Often the style doesn't apply at all — it just tweaks the bangs a little or blurs the edges of the hair.
there are only 11 hairstyles, and they are all long.
Downloaded it to try different hairstyles and it didn't do anything but blur the edges of my hair in the photos.
Awful for testing hairstyles. Only 1 short style (bob) the rest are different variations of long hair with different waviness.
The AI result looks fake and deforms the face
When editing does work, the result often looks unnatural: the face changes beyond recognition, black dots appear on the forehead, an extra face shows up in the hair, the body looks anorexic. The pictures come out cartoonish and "fake".
completely changes the face even if it's just to make the photo back and white. not one photo looks like me this is the worst app ever
Terrible update. Went from photos looking semi realistic to cartoonish.
To much Ai interference. Pictures look fake
Crashes on the "Eyes" feature — unfixed for months
The app reliably crashes when you tap "Eyes" (especially on Pixel) and freezes on "finalizing edit". It's a known bug: people contact support, get told it's known, and it stays unfixed for six months or more.
However when I click on eyes it always crashes on a pixel 10. I contacted support 3 month ago and they just said it was a known bug and have not fixed it.
Edit: April 2026 and it still crashes. Crashes every time I click eyes.
The eye feature hasn't worked for over 6 months though which is frustrating.
Ads promise features the app doesn't have
The ads and description lure people with specific promises — find your face shape/skin tone, match colors to your look, try on glasses, shave a beard different ways, run a color analysis — but inside none of it exists or works as shown.
downloaded for glasses try on. no glasses in app, total false advertising. don't waste your time
false advertising. just wanted an app to tell me my face shape and recommend hairstyles
Didn't even offer what it got me to sign up for. Google suggested it for me to find my skin tone. But it doesn't offer that.
Updates break what used to work
Long-time users say new versions are worse than old ones: hairstyles became unnatural, free tools were taken away ("Looks", "Reshape", "Refine"), lighting was changed and now ruins the background. The recurring plea is "bring back the old version".
before the update, the hair styles were more natural and suitable like it's your own hair, but lately it became the opposite
Loved this until they removed Refine feature on Android. This was the best part of this app and now it's useless without it. Cancelled my sub.
Now the developers have said screw the customer and removed a lot of free tools like "Looks" and "Reshape" features for the free versions
You pay, and the VIP access still gets cut off
Even paying, active subscribers suddenly get locked out of VIP features: the app asks them to subscribe again, throws "Oops...something went wrong", or changes the plan price weeks later and blocks access. They've paid — and still can't get in.
App not working even though I have an active subscription, it keeps telling me to subscribe to VIP and when I select it it gives me a "Oops...something went wrong" message.
today. the stupid app denied my access to the vip use. I cant use the vip features despite paying it. stupid app.
took $35.99 for the year, then three weeks later changed the plan price and stopped me from using it. Scammers.
Doesn't edit video, even after paying for it
Some people subscribe to edit video, but the app doesn't do video: it only shows photos in the gallery, and on Pixel any action slaps a giant white square around the head and ruins the clip.
Signed up for a week, doesn't edit video. Wasted money.
Video editing doesn't work on Google Pixel. As soon as you click any button in the app to edit your video, a giant white square appears around your head and never goes away.
It is a photo editor. It doesn't edit video what I am searching for.
