Boo Dating reviews

What users love and hate, from real reviews

A dating app that sells itself as «personality over looks» with MBTI tests and verified profiles, yet gates nearly every meaningful action — seeing who liked you, reading your messages — behind an aggressive paywall.

What users love

Personality over photos — the app's real strength

Fans praise the focus on MBTI and compatibility rather than looks: conversations go deeper, people feel more genuine, and there's less ghosting than on other apps.

Boo stands out because it focuses on personality, not just photos. I've had better conversations here than on most dating apps, and the people feel more genuine. Great app if you're looking for real connections.

Unlike many dating apps that focus mainly on appearances, Boo encourages meaningful conversations and compatibility based on personality types and interests.

far less ghosting on this app compared to others.

Verified photos and a thoughtful sign-up build trust

Mandatory photo verification plus a deep sign-up with a personality test and audio/video intros make it feel safe and weed out people pretending to be who they aren't.

The first fantastic news about Boo was the fact that profiles are checked. This takes out of the picture all jokers who pretend to be what they are not.

it's great that the users have to verify their photo and that there is a personality test taken.

Very Secured. You can't even watch other person's pics unless you put yours first.

A social-feed hybrid: you can talk, not just wait for a match

Unlike apps where you can't say a word before matching, Boo has a built-in social feed and lets you chat about posts with many people — a relief for those tired of pure swiping.

here you can also chat socially to many others about random posts

is actually cool that you can reach out and message instead of have to wait for them to link or whatever the hell not bad

Encouraging people talking not just swiping. Almost everyone has a bio, its great

Weak spots

What users hate

You can't even read incoming messages without paying

The core function — talking — sits behind a paywall: matches arrive blurred and messages are readable only to paying members. People pay and still can't open a single message.

Anyone who matches you is blurred and you're not allowed to see, unless you're paying customer. Sadly.

couldnt open a single message without upgrading to premium. why bother at this point

Can't see whos messaging me and have to pay

Almost no matches until you pay — your profile just isn't shown

Users go months with one match or none, feeling their profile simply isn't shown to anyone without payment. Even after buying premium, many get no matches at all.

I am using for 2 month and I only get one match this app is just waste of money, if you don't put money in app then your profile will not show to others

even after buying premium and making my profile good, I am not getting any matches. so, I dont like this app anymore

it's pricy and almost never matches you unless you pay.

Swiping «no» burns your daily limit the same as «yes»

The daily like cap is spent even on people you reject, so you can never reach the person who liked you — and it pushes everyone toward mass right-swiping.

Free users have a daily like limit too, THAT ALSO COUNTS ANYONE YOU SAID NO TO! so good luck finding the one that sent you the like

Boo is the ONLY one that counts no swipes the same as yes.

swiping left used up a soul(this apps version of likes) for some reason? How can anyone match when you literally can't say no to keep going? That just encourages mass right swiping.

The app loads forever and crashes constantly

Multi-minute loads, crashes on every other launch, a glitchy chat that forces constant re-logins — and sometimes a reinstall locks you out of your account entirely.

the loading time is ridiculous and crashes so often that I'm considering uninstalling it

the average loading time is around 5+ minutes when you open the app, and it crashes completely 4 out of 5 times I open the app

I cannot open the app for days now.. it's just loading forever.

Photo verification gets stuck — and locks you out of a paid account

Face checks fall into «manual verification» that never finishes for hours; after paying, uploading a new photo demands re-verification again, leaving the app completely unusable.

it said I had to re-verify my photos, which hasnt worked after multiple attempts. the app won't let me like or message anyone as I'm not verified so it's now completely unusable

it is stuck on manual verification page and is not working I'm not able to send any request and messages to anyone I have even paid for the subscription for 3 months

that damn varification is not finished for hours, it's still not finished yet

Accounts get banned right after payment — with no explanation

Users report being banned within seconds of paying, or simply kicked out and unable to get back in despite months of paid subscription.

I paid for a subscription, and within seconds of completing the payment, my account was banned without any prior notice or clear explanation.

kicked me out of the app, now I can't get back in despite paying for 3 months

Got a notification that I had a match but when I clicked it my account was gone. Had to make a new one.

A nagging «rate this app» popup on every single launch

The app begs for a rating literally every time you open it — even before you have a single match; many people drop it to one star purely over this spam.

everytime you hop into the app it asks you to rate it if you haven't.

Mostly just because I have to dismiss the forced review page every time I open the app. Down with hostile app design!

getting tired of the rate my app popup so that's why it's one star

Bots, fakes and scammers begging for money

Despite verification, the feed is full of fake foreign accounts and scammers who openly ask whether you have enough funds to keep them comfortable.

I just have girls from Asia end Afrika searching contact with obvious reasons and they don't even hide that. They are literally asking if I have enough funds for them to have a comfortable life....

too many bots and scammers. pushes you to pay to actually have matches.

worst dating app yet. full of bot accounts.

Too few people in your city or age range

Older users and those in smaller cities hit an empty feed: one or two people a week in their age or radius, with almost no local singles.

No people show up in the search for my age range (40-55), must only be for the younger crowd. Mabey 1 or 2 every week or 2.

there's hardly ever anyone in my age bracket withing 50 miles....

No local singles. L
