Bumble reviews

What users love and hate, from real reviews

A dating app where women message first; its defining tension is between the promise of genuine connections and the feeling that real matches are locked behind a paywall while the algorithm suppresses your deck to push you toward paying.

What users love

When it works — it delivers partners and higher-quality dates than rivals

Despite the wave of negativity, some users genuinely found partners and even spouses here, and praise the more thoughtful profiles and respectful vibe. Some explicitly note that Bumble dates turn out higher-quality than on other apps.

This is the best dating app. I found my gf ❤️ through this app.

if you get dates, they are usually of higher quality compared to other apps

this has been my best dating app experience by miles

Flexible filters and rich profiles — but much is locked behind payment

Those who like the interface point to deep profile customization, precise settings, and filters rivals lack. The strength is detailed profiles that let you match on interests and goals; the only sting is that key filters cost money.

honestly it has pretty good settings and profile customization

the customization and personalization features allowed me to really find what I want

it's easier to match based on common interests, goals, etc. due to the more in-depth profile interface

Fewer bots and scam accounts than other dating apps

Against the fake-profile complaints there's a counter-signal: some users feel there are fewer scam accounts and bots here than on rivals, which is exactly why they gave it a shot. For dating, that's a meaningful edge.

Significantly less bots and scam accounts then other dating apps

Seemed like this one wasnt as bad so gave it a shot

great app for meeting new interesting people

Weak spots

What users hate

Likes and matches are hidden behind a subscription — useless without paying

The single most common complaint: the free tier feels deliberately crippled — you can't see who liked you, can't really message, key filters cost extra. Users read it not as monetization but as a trap: it shows you '100+ likes' but you can only open them by paying.

I can't even see anybody that like me, unless I have to pay for it but I really don't want to pay for it

You can't do anything and you can't see anything without a subscription.

Bumble calls itself free, but the free version feels deliberately restricted

You pay and matches still don't come — the algorithm feels rigged

Even after buying premium, people report zero real matches or replies. Many notice a telltale pattern: likes suddenly pour in right as the subscription is about to expire — read as a deliberate nudge to renew.

all of a sudden as my subscription ended i started getting loads of likes... seems quite fishy

now that the sub is about to run out, I'm suddenly getting a bunch of likes... too convenient. almost predatory

Paid for the lifetime $299 but zero likes or response from any profile

The same profiles on a loop — swipes aren't being saved

A persistent bug: after swiping left/right the same person reappears immediately, and the deck cycles through the same 30-40 faces. Users worry their own swipes aren't registering and doubt anyone is even seeing them.

Showing me the same people on a loop even though I've swiped left and right on them

Swipes left and right are not being recognised. Same profile appears straight away.

it doesnt update so im seeing the exact same people that ive already swiped

Flooded with fakes and bots — there's basically no profile moderation

People constantly hit fake profiles, AI photos, pictures with no person in them, and Snapchat scams in the 'opening moves'. They complain that no one checks whether a profile is real, and the report system is either missing or answers with copy-paste.

there is nobody monitoring profiles if they are real or fake

Bots, fake and more bots! Don't waste your money.

getting overrun with fake profiles

The app simply won't open and loads forever

Basic stability is broken: the Bumble symbol pulses and nothing happens; you have to force-close and reopen several times. Often it starts right after paying — which makes being unable to even reply to messages doubly galling.

bumble symbol keeps pulsing but nothing happens

the app doesn't load, it's up to date and I have signal

Once I started paying for this app it suddenly stopped opening all the time. I'll be locked out for hours.

The verification code never arrives — you can't even sign in or register

A whole class of users gets stuck at the very threshold: they enter the correct number but the OTP never arrives for days, or validation rejects a valid number. The result is they can't create an account or get back into one they've already paid for.

phone number confirmation code won't arrive. tried time and time again, but the code is never sent

everytime I give my phone number to login the code didn't come

it would just not send me the otp on my registered number

There's no support — just a bot that closes the chat

When something breaks (especially billing), there's no help: an AI bot asks for your email and vanishes, no live agents, replies take 72 hours and are copy-paste. For an app that takes your money, the absence of real support is its own sore point.

there is a bot which always closes the chat. amazingly awful experience

AI chat bot asks for your email and nobody contacts you. It's been nearly a week.

Support team bever replies, just AI with no follow up.

Accounts get blocked for no reason — sometimes right after paying

People get banned after barely swiping a couple of times and messaging no one, citing 'guideline violations'. The automated system misfires, the 'manual review' replies with the same template, and lifetime subscriptions and payments aren't refunded.

after a day im blocked from using it... I dont even know what I did to have this happen

My account was blocked out of nowhere for a policy I never violated

After I paid, I got banned that fast even I haven't used any of my subscription

Billing nightmare: charged after cancelling, refunds refused, hard to unsubscribe

A money pain all its own: charges continue after cancellation, payments don't link to the account, refunds are refused 'at the user's fault'. Unsubscribing is deliberately hard, and the bot sends you in circles while money keeps leaving your card.

Canceled subscription and still got billed a month later. Refund refused.

they make it impossible to cancel and won't refund when they are at fault

paid for a subscription that didn't link to my account

Matches expire in 24 hours — connections cut off on a timer

The 24-hour reply window feels like it contradicts the whole point of dating: busy people lose a match simply for not logging in on time, and a reconnect is offered for money. Many call it a money trap.

the fundamental fail of this app, is that matches expire after 24 hours

Giving people 24 hours to reply is one of the most nonsense moves. And asking money after to reconnect.

matches disappearing after 24 hours

Feels hostile to men: your profile feels hidden, odds are slim

Men report en masse that their profile feels buried under a flood of others, a match comes once a month at best, and matches don't reply. The 'women first' model, in their view, ends with paying and getting almost nothing back.

If you're a man, your profile is hidden. No one will see it, and you will be buried by the cascade of other men on the app.

If you're a guy you'll maybe get a match once a month

for guys: unless you're a 6 foot plus male model, don't bother
