Deliveroo reviews
What users love and hate, from real reviews
A UK food-delivery aggregator many praise for fast service and the Plus subscription, but whose defining tension is the gap between what it promises (offers, delivery times, support) and what it actually delivers.
What users love
When it works, it's fast, convenient, with friendly drivers
Happy users praise a smooth, convenient app, fast reliable delivery and polite drivers. For many it's a lifeline — especially when they can't get to the shops themselves.
Deliveroo makes ordering food super convenient. The app is smooth and easy to navigate. Lots of restaurant choices with great deals. Delivery is usually fast and reliable.
perfect service drivers are super nice top ter
i have recently had major spinal surgery and am having to rest for 12wks for it to heal. I live on my own and this makes my life so much easier best thing ever
The 2-digit confirmation code and Prime bundle are where Deliveroo beats rivals
Loyal users note Deliveroo's support beats Uber Eats and Just Eat, a handy 2-digit code instead of a 4-digit one, in-app tipping, and an Amazon Prime link for free delivery.
Great App and gives you a 2 digit code Unlike Uber eats which has 4 Deliveroo Plus saves a fortune as delivery can be Costly
Best premium customer service compared to like uber eats and just eat their customer service is very poor.
the fact you can link prime get free delivery on both is amazing!
What users hate
Support is a wall: one «we can't do anything» script for every problem
The single most common complaint: when an order goes wrong, support replies with copy-paste, won't escalate, and refuses refunds. You first have to fight through an AI bot, only to reach a human repeating the same script.
if you need help with absolutely anything it is the same copy and pasted script constantly
Better to ask a wall for support
this Ai thing conecting to an agent is the worst idea someone had to come up with
Missing items, no refund: half the order never arrives and the money stays gone
Orders routinely arrive incomplete, and the refund for what's missing is either denied or a token few pounds. To get the missing item you have to re-order and pay delivery all over again.
Last 10 orders all had missing items. Cannot rely on it for ordering food anymore.
Ordered 5 biryanis but received only 3. Complained immediately with receipt and photos and called customer service, but they refused my request without a proper reason.
Every time I do an order there is something missing so you have to order again and pay delivery AGAIN
Cold food from stacking: drivers carry other orders while yours sits going cold
By making drivers pick up two orders at once, your food sits in the box while someone else's is cooked and arrives stone cold, soggy and sweaty. It's a platform design choice, not one driver's fault.
They make people pick up 2 orders so your food gets cold.
food is turning up cold because drivers pick up other orders and deliver them while our food is sat going cold in their car
they start doubling up your delivery so your order sits in the cool box why some one else's food is cooked my order was stone cold
Bait offers: the new-user discount is stripped off at the final payment step
Ads promise «50% / AED 50 off for new users», but at checkout the system demands you remove the voucher to pay, or silently strips it. Often the order goes through at full price anyway, with no refund.
at checkout the system asked me to remove the voucher before I could complete the payment
the discount was showing initially, but at the final step the voucher was automatically removed
worst app they give 50 DHS gift voucher for first time user I tried to claim it but every time I tried to pay they won't accept my payment
Plus/Gold is nearly impossible to cancel — you have to delete the account
Cancelling is buried behind forms and loops; the switch-plans button doesn't work. Some users were subscribed without consent, and the only way out is to delete the whole account.
if someone wants to cancel the subscription? They have made it so IMPOSSIBLE. HAD TO DELETE MY ACCOUNT JUST TO GET RID OF THEIR SUBSCRIPTION
there is no way to easily cancel your deliveroo plus subscription. you have to send them a form and wait for a reply
A premium subscription was activated on my account without my knowledge or consent, and I only discovered it after being charged.
Prices inflated over the restaurant, then a forest of fees on top of everything
The same items cost more in the app than in-restaurant or at pickup, and on top come a service fee, a small-order fee, a picking fee. Even with a discount it's pricier than going direct.
Inflated menu prices compared to in-resturant or in-person pickup.
Too expensive, there is a fee for everything small order > extra fee big order > extra fee close > extra fee far away > extra fee
Prices are ridiculous, fees on top, picking fee, we dont like your shopping fee, a fee to apply fees.
Delivery estimates are fiction: «20 minutes» easily becomes an hour or more
The quoted delivery time is systematically optimistic and keeps extending while the app flips between «finding the driver» and «driver heading to restaurant». Without paid express, the wait often doubles.
when you order it will show arriving in 20 min but will take atleast 1 hr.
half of orders take an hour and a half when advertised at 30mins
the app is constantly shifting between "finding the driver" and "the driver is heading to the restaurant"
Payment just fails: cards «invalid», cash not accepted, order falls through
Many users simply can't pay — the app rejects several cards in a row and won't take cash. Money gets deducted, the order fails, and the refund never lands back in the account.
payment has been declined... second day in a row. used 3 different cards...
App kept saying my cards were invalid, in the end I had to try a different delivery service.
I have ordered through the app my money got deducted and the order failed also money never came back to the bank
Orders accepted then cancelled: restaurant long closed, but money already taken
The app accepts the order and takes payment, then cancels 20-45 minutes later — often from a restaurant that has stopped working with Deliveroo entirely. You can't cancel it yourself.
They are accepting order and money taken from card after some minutes they are canceling the order without any reason
delivery got cancelled after 45 mins of waiting despite the driver picking it up
I checked the restaurant and understood that they stopped business with Deliveroo, then why this Deliveroo app is keeping the restaurant and taking order and payment then canceling
The app crashes, won't load, and drains the battery
Freezes, crashes, a green start-up screen and login errors like HT409 — clearing cache and reinstalling don't help. One user reports a 20-minute order eats half the battery.
broken- no idea why but the last few months this app has frozen my whole phone, crashes everything
From the beginning, it's giving HT409 error, unable to log in, create an account, anything.
the app is now nuking my battery, 20-minute order eats +50% of the battery with the phone even heating up
Ads inside a paid app: banners even on the order-tracking screen
People pay for Plus and service fees yet still get ads — including banners on the order-tracking screen and pushy ad notifications you can't disable without killing delivery updates too.
ads on the tracking screen, what a joke, you already charge a huge fee to make record profits and now I have ads on the tracking screen too
you pay for the app and I still put adverts in there
I get several advertising notifications per day that you cannot selectively disable
Coverage is big-city only: outside London the app is simply useless
In smaller towns there are zero available restaurants or the address is out of zone, and has been for years. Users wait years for their area to launch and eventually give up.
ZERO options where I live!!! - a city with a population of around 100,000 people!
I'm in my 80s and have waited 7 years since I first tried your app, so I hope you'll forgive that I've given up on you.
very limited options for reataurants
