DoorDash reviews
What users love and hate, from real reviews
The biggest US food-delivery aggregator: people love the 'never leave the house' convenience, but pay for it with ballooning hidden fees, broken support, and a lottery of unreliable drivers.
What users love
The 'never leave the house' convenience is why people forgive everything
The core reason people love it: you can get food or groceries without driving or leaving home. It's especially prized by people without a car, with a disability, recovering from surgery, or just tired — for them it's a lifesaver.
I love it! Don't have to fight traffic! Yes, it costs, but it's so worth it! One of my favorite modern conveniences
it consistently saves me, I can't get around and I really need doordash
I just had surgery and had no way to go get groceries myself, so this app was so much help
When refunds and drivers do work, it's a favorite service
Some users praise exactly what others complain about: photo-confirmed delivery prevents theft, and issues get resolved promptly with a refund. For them dashers are fast and friendly, and DoorDash beats Uber Eats on reliability.
Ive had my food stolen on UberEats multiple times, and its never once happened with DoorDash. With all the authentication and having the driver send a photo of your order, I always end up getting my food
door dash is amazing and if you have any discrepancys they refund you.
my last several drivers have been very good, fast and friendly.
Simple, easy ordering flow is a real plus for many
Despite the glitch complaints, a large group calls the app easy, user-friendly and quick to order through, with a wide selection that works across cities when travelling.
easy and quick to place order! I love this app.
great interface, easy to navigate, works in most cities we travel to!
This is my first time ordering via Door Dash, very user friendly
What users hate
Refusing refunds for undelivered or stolen orders is the signature pain
This is the single most common complaint: food never arrives, lands at the wrong address, or gets stolen, and there's still no refund, even with video proof. 'Not eligible for a refund' becomes the line that makes people delete their account.
even though you don't receive an item they won't refund you. i don't plan on coming back.
Despite providing the evidence, customer service was unhelpful and refused a full refund.
The amount of times I've not received my items and been told "Sorry, you're not eligible for a refund." Is pathetic at this point.
Fees and service charges balloon the bill to absurd totals
An $8 order turns into $25, a $40 meal into $70 before the tip. Stacked service fees, an in-app markup on the restaurant's menu, taxes — people flatly call it 'greed' and go straight to the restaurant's site to save money.
find another app, overpriced fees that I rather tip the driver, your meal could be 8 dollars and it'll turn 25 + a 45 minute wait
a normal $40 meal cost over $70 BEFORE the driver tip.
They show you a 1 dollar delivery fee, but add 5-6 to the label "Tax and other Fees"
Support is an AI bot that repeats itself and closes the chat
A live human is nearly impossible to reach; the AI assistant loops canned replies, agents end the chat, and phone lines hang up. People describe it as 'deliberately useless' to deter refunds.
terrible customer service and the ai assistant you have to talk to when trying to call is even worse.
AI "support" is unhelpful and will even falsely deny cancellations or refunds entirely as a deterrent.
the dashbot helper that can't help and just repeats itself
Charges with no order: double billing, unwanted DashPass, other people's cards
Users find charges on days they ordered nothing, DashPass billed after cancelling, double charges across family cards. Many treat it as outright theft and go to their bank to dispute.
they will take money out of your account even on days that you do not use doordash.
I cancelled dash pass before the renewal date so I wouldn't be charged and they charged me anyway and forced me to pay for another year of dash pass I didn't want
Everything was good til my daughter got charged on her card for my acct then they turned around and tried to charge me too.
Driver lottery: food stolen, dropped at wrong door, multi-dashing arrives cold
Dashers stack 3-4 orders at once, so your hot food rides for an hour and shows up cold; some steal drinks or the whole order; the driver's photo doesn't match who arrives. Driver quality is a roulette.
They allow drivers to rack up 4 orders at once so your food takes like 50 minutes to get to you and its cold af.
drivers either take the other after taking a pic or take the drinks from your order.
if you order fast food you can bet it's coming back cold because they got 23 stops before you
You can't pick the nearest store or sort by distance
The app force-redirects to the closest (but wrong) location and won't let you choose where the order comes from; there's no sort by distance or speed. People cancel orders repeatedly just to force the app to suggest the right branch.
Please add a feature where we can sort places by distance. The fact that I can't has made using this service a lot more inconvenient than it has to be.
Always redirects to the closest store, even if it's in a shopping center with less options, and won't let you change it.
I wasted $30 bucks trying to order from the nearest location of a fast food restaurant because I had to cancel the order twice just to force the app into finally suggesting the closest location.
Tipping is turned into a ransom for speed, not a thank-you
Your order gets pushed down the queue if the tip isn't 'enough,' and the fees are used as an excuse to underpay drivers. Some users now set zero in-app and tip the driver in cash directly.
your order also gets pushed back in urgency if you dont tip 'enough;' they dont want to pay their employees themselves.
always select zero tip on the app then tip your delivery driver WELL in cash. that's what I'll be doing from now on
They charge you so much money and don't pay the drivers.
Missing and wrong items are routine, especially on big orders
Items, drinks and condiments go missing constantly; a 4-person order almost always loses something. Drivers don't check the bag, and compensation is pennies on what you spent.
Missing items all the time and the delivery drivers aren't responsible for checking the actual orders.
was missing 2 items from order and they refused to refund me or have items sent.
for some reason they never get my drink then don't refund either thats annoying it would be a 5/5 otherwise
The app glitches, crashes, and suddenly becomes 'incompatible'
The cart empties at checkout, the app freezes mid-order, logs you in then kicks you out, and after an update is suddenly 'not compatible with your device.' You can't place the order, yet the money is already gone.
the last two weeks I tried to order and as soon as I do it it says your cart is empty multiple times when I hit the order button
app is fried won't let me order or log in most of the time
never had a problem and suddenly not compatible WTH
Notification spam you can't turn off
Updates add push notifications you can't disable in-app; turn them off at the OS level and it begs you to turn them back on. The endless 'you left something behind in your cart' nags grate.
Newest update added like 3 new push notifications that cannot be disabled in the app, if you turn off notifications you get spammed begging you to turn notifications back on.
too many ads. too many unnecessary notifications. stop trying to cram stuff down my throat.
Really annoying when you're trying to order and it keeps notifying you that you "left something behind" in your cart.
