Etsy reviews

What users love and hate, from real reviews

A handmade-and-vintage marketplace shoppers adore for unique items and warm makers, but increasingly slam for an influx of AI fakes, resellers, and a support system that vanishes when orders go missing.

What users love

Unique, hard-to-find items are why people love Etsy

Over and over, buyers say the same thing: Etsy has literally everything you can't get in a regular store — custom gifts, niche patterns, quirky finds. People compare browsing it to a great farmer's market.

Best place to find quirky and beautiful gifts

love it. it's like shopping at a great farmer's market.

I love the fact that I can find pretty much everything I'm looking for

The makers and sellers are warm and responsive

When a transaction goes well, it's the sellers who carry it: people praise quick replies, willingness to change a color or tweak an order, instant replacement of a defective item. Buyers return to the same makers for years and call them by name.

she emailed me back right away and fixed the issue for me so I could place an order

This seller went above and beyond to help me with my order.

My first pair were damaged, but replaced immediately without question.

The joy of supporting small makers and custom gifts

For many, Etsy is first and foremost about supporting small businesses and handmade work, not cheap mass goods. Buyers are moved by the craftsmanship, the packaging, and the ability to order a personalized gift for the "impossible-to-buy-for" person.

I love supporting small businesses. The app makes things easily accessible and checkout is a breeze.

Homemade items made by people with a passion.

perfect gift for my friend who's impossible to buy for!!!

Weak spots

What users hate

Orders vanish and Etsy washes its hands of it

The most painful theme: the item never arrives, the delivery date is endlessly pushed back, and once the cancel window closes Etsy declares it the buyer's problem. People lose tens to hundreds of dollars on packages that were never shipped.

The date kept being extended for arrival

Etsy says if the original date is extended, your problem. I'm done. Scammers paradise.

Terrible Experience. Never got my package. Absolute unacceptable service.

AI slop and Temu resellers are crowding out real makers

Loyal pattern and art buyers are furious: the feed is flooded with AI "creations" and stolen designs with no way to filter them out. Many say half the sellers just resell junk from Temu and AliExpress, and Etsy does nothing about it.

I'm disappointed every time I search for art and see pages of AI slop. Etsy, please do better.

the amount of AI patterns that are on here is nuts! its almost unusable anymore.

ETSY has become a giant scam of sellers reselling off Temu.

Support is effectively unreachable; accounts get hacked and suspended

When something breaks, there's no help: requests go unanswered, the only contact channel is useless, and a hacked account drags on for months. Sellers have it worse — they pay to open a shop and it gets suspended immediately with no clear reason.

they never respond to problems

My account was hacked and I've been trying to get help from etsy support for over a month.

every single time Etsy takes my money and then suspends the shop shortly afterward without providing a clear explanation

Refunds are swapped for Etsy credit — your money doesn't come back

A distinct grievance: instead of a real refund, the system auto-issues Etsy credit. You're forced to spend it on the same platform and run into trouble again — people describe it as a loop of losing money over and over.

THEY SEND YOU CREDIT ...So you end up spending and losing again and again

When u request refund it automatically chooses etsy credit and it takes long time to receive the refund

Even though I received a credit from Etsy to order again from another shipper, they charged an extra $10 for my new order.

Shipping often costs more than the item itself

Buyers complain shipping eats half the total, and the "free shipping" badge turns out to be a lie — the shop charges for it anyway. It's pushing several of them back to Amazon.

for $50 of items , I'm paying 40 for shipping. Will stick with Amazon from now on.

Don't believe it when it tells you that the item in your cart has Free Shipping! They LIE!

product is great....delivery charge was more than half the purchase price. won't be shopping here again.

The app lags, freezes, and forgets your login

Technically the app is rough: every cart click is a 20-second wait, checkout is nearly impossible, the sign-in screen hangs blank. After a break it forgets your credentials and you have to dig up and paste your password again.

Impossible to update a cart, it takes 20 seconds for. Every. Single. Click.

This app keeps freezing, loading and asking for retry and reload.

the app now shows a screen "Signing in to etsy". This screen is empty, nothing happens.

You can't pay for multiple items in one checkout

An annoying mechanic limit: items from different shops can't be paid for in one go — especially via Google Pay, where you pay per item. Buying three patterns means three separate checkouts.

one can't put multiple things in the checkout cart & pay with Google pay all at once

tried to purchase 3 patterns. had to pay individually for each one.. so Stupid!!

Spammy notifications and autoplay videos in the feed

The app bombards you with notifications day and night to nudge more purchases, and recently started greeting users with five simultaneously-playing "Behind the scenes" videos that can't be turned off and drain the battery.

it sends me notifications CONSTANTLY.

I'm instantly greeted with 5 forced-playing videos that ALL play at the same time!

so much spam ads in notifications, I turned off in the and ads or info, but i get it anyway !

Screenshots and access blocked "for security" — hurting gifting and downloads

New restrictions infuriate long-time users: you can no longer screenshot an item to show family as a gift idea, can't print your own receipt, and digital patterns must be downloaded through a browser that keeps bouncing you back into the app.

Can't screenshot stuff anymore to show friends and family things we would like as gifts so we've all kind of stopped using the app

the ridiculous audacity to not allow me to print or screenshot MY OWN receipt

Currently you have to open it in a web browser to download, which is difficult on a phone because it keeps trying to redirect to the app.

The price jumps at checkout with no explanation

It enrages buyers that the real total only surfaces on the last screen: the price doubles because of hidden shipping, and for one user a repeating address error kept inflating the charge from $202 up to $266.

it went from the initial $202 all the way up to $266! Super flaky!

quick check out , clear what the final payment is, not like other sites , when the final payment is much higher
