When it works, the prediction accuracy genuinely delights
Those for whom the app is stable praise its accuracy: cycle and ovulation predictions often land within a day. Several women say they conceived by following the predicted ovulation dates. After a couple of months of data the algorithm adapts to your real cycle length, which is especially valued for irregular cycles.

The understated, non-girly tone is what's prized most
Much of the appeal was that the app was discreet and free of saccharine styling: an inconspicuous 'P.D' icon on the screen, a clean interface, no loud 'girly vibes'. Users describe it as 'made for women by women', not 'for girls by men'. The new floral themes are exactly what breaks that sense of maturity and privacy.
Don't ever change your ui/ ux for us and Don't bring the loud girly vibes to this app it gets really annoying.

I love the update to this app. It's so much more intuitive to use. Easier to log your start and end dates, simpler UI, no longer clunky and confusing.
I'm in love with the new update.. it's a bit confusing at first but that's completely fine if you spend 2 min for understanding it.its really cool.

The redesign killed the app's whole point: simplicity
A huge mass of loyal users (often 5-10 years in) unanimously hates the new version: confusing, not user-friendly, messy. They loved it precisely for the minimalism and clear calendar, and the update piled on extra sections and broke familiar navigation. The verdict is usually 'if it's not broke, leave it alone' and a switch to another app.

New Version is complicated and not user friendly
This used to be a great app. I had been using it since 2014 but now it's really pushy about getting premium.
Updates wipe out years of accumulated history
The most painful complaint: after an update or account login, 3-10 years of data vanish with no warning and no backup option. For women with PCOS, pregnancy planning, or prepping for a doctor's visit this isn't cosmetic, it's lost medical history. Data often disappears 'every couple of months', making the app fundamentally unreliable.

Used to be a really good free app but now it deletes my data every couple of months so I lose track of my cycles.
Lost all my details since the latest update! Uninstalled and reinstalled twice with no joy. Years of tracking just gone...
Aggressive premium pop-ups smother the actual logging
Payment prompts pop up 'every 2 seconds', one after another, sometimes erasing the day's data you just entered. People come for one function, marking a cycle day, and physically can't reach it. The comparisons are brutal: 'It's a period app not a vpn'.
Had been great but constant pop up about premium makes me want to delete it now.
I press on the x and there's another one coming right up?? It's a period app not a vpn.
I don't need special content and I certainly don't need intrusive pop-ups every 2 seconds while I'm trying to log my period
You can't backdate the start of a period
A key regression in the new version: if you forget to mark the start day, the app only lets you set today's date, not the real past day. For women with irregular cycles or just busy lives, this throws off the whole calculation. The old version let you 'go back days', and that's exactly what everyone demands back.
If i forget to click on last date,I can't go back date and edit!
when you accidentally forget to put when you start it, it won't let you go back and pick the real start day...only the current day...so it isn't user friendly.
If your period comes early you have to manually put it in the calendar. If you don't document your cycle on the exact start and end date you have to edit it in the calendar. The older version allowed you to go back days to log your cycle.
The app freezes, won't load, or won't open at all
After updates, many users get stuck on a blank screen, on the opening 'has your period started?' prompt, or on the login page. There are 404 and 502 errors and crashes tied to specific updates (July 4th, Samsung A21+). For a tracker you open once a day, 'great when it works, which isn't often' is a failure of the basic function.

Pregnancy mode was removed — the cycle counter keeps ticking
The old version let you flag a pregnancy so the app would stop counting cycle days; the new one simply has no such option. Many people use trackers specifically to conceive, so the missing 'pregnant' state feels absurd. Postpartum tracking is broken too — the app keeps pushing the delivery date forward.

Really bad since it was updated. Why on earth you cant record 'pregnant' on here seeing as alot of women use period trackers to get pregnant is beyond me.
logging previous pregnancies does not work. I wanted to track my progress since I'm freshly postpartum and it keeps adjusting the end of my pregnancy to next month, when the baby has already been born.
You can't export or take your own data without paying
History export is locked behind the paywall, and for some the 'export' button simply doesn't work. So to move to another app people end up manually re-typing years of records. It's a hostage situation: you can neither leave with your data nor stay without subscribing.
The constant upgrade requests are aggressive, but I can't output my data without upgrading.... so we're at a stalemate....
you can't even download your data without premium! I had to manually input my data of 9 years into my own sheet.
I can't even download my period history to transfer to another app because you have to pay to do so.
Privacy fear: change of ownership and data being sold
The app was sold (Bellabeat is named) and now demands login and consent to access sensitive cycle data. Users got emails saying their records were sold and shared, and fear the data being handed to police or the government. For a category where cycle data is intimate medical information, this is a critical blow to trust.
Will give your information out to police or government, this is important to know. Please protect yourself and your information.
After receiving an email in the last couple years to saying everyone who recorded data in app had it sold and shared, to now not having anything available
Really upset that after using the simple and reliable app, it's been snatched up by Bella beat and now I have to log in and agree to give them access to my sensitive data. No thanks. Will be deleting.
You can't unsubscribe, yet the charges keep coming
A distinct billing pain point: people can't find how to cancel, the auto-renew toggle doesn't work, and money is charged even after cancellation or without tapping pay at all. One user threatens legal action. This isn't ordinary 'too expensive', it's a genuinely abusive retention mechanism.
Unable to unsubscribe from this service. Shocking that this is allowed in today's age. it says I can turn auto renew off in the app, I am not able to do that either.
I wad charge even through I cancelled it
