Just Eat reviews
What users love and hate, from real reviews
A UK food-delivery aggregator whose ordering interface most people are fine with, but whose relationship with the customer collapses the moment anything goes wrong — refund refusals have become its signature.
What users love
When it works — easy ordering, hot food and polite drivers
A real share of happy users: the app is easy to use, the choice of restaurants is wide, food arrives hot and fast, and drivers are polite — for loyal users it's a convenient, familiar way to order dinner.
very easy to order & highly recommend great value for money & friendly. excellent all round 5 ⭐
Really fast delivery, food piping hot and delicious. Courteous delivery driver kindly closed the door for me when he saw I was struggling with my hand in a sling
Easy to use delivery app with varied choices, good deals and polite drivers.
Fast refunds — but only for a happy minority
Some long-term users report the opposite experience: when an order is wrong or an item is out of stock, the money comes back within a day — and that's exactly why they rate Just Eat above rivals.
very good promotions and cheap and give refunds when there is a mistake in the order
I have never once had to deal with a Just Eat delivery driver stealing my order. I highly recommend you use Just Eat over Uber Eats.
I always get my discounts. The app is easy to use. The service is great
What users hate
Refunds are clawed back like a favour — even with proof
The single most common and defining pain: for undelivered, wrong or spoiled orders Just Eat routinely refuses refunds, hides behind «previous claims», and closes the case without explanation — even when photos and proof are attached.
refusing to refund for an item I didn't receive, cancelling my Just Eat + and never using you guys again. jokers
received the 3 cheapest items from my order, the other 5 missing, refund denied, deleting this trash
refuses to issue refunds when you show proof of the wrong food being delivered as you 'provided a code'
«Delivered» but nothing arrives: drivers mark it done and vanish
A very frequent scenario: the courier marks the order delivered though nothing arrived, and the system automatically treats the dispute as closed — users flatly call it drivers stealing the food.
delivery driver marked my order as delivered but I have not received it scam
Got my food stolen numerous times by their thieving couriers and its gotten to the point that I'm afraid to order
driver takes your order, you request a refund, say it's been delivered when it clearly hasn't then they pocket your money like a SCAM
No human to reach — just a looping AI bot
Support is effectively fully automated: an AI chat gives canned replies, refuses to connect a human, closes the chat or traps you in an endless loop, and the phone line hands you to a robot.
the chat was an AI bot with zero understanding of customer service. upon trying to ask for a human the app just repeats the same phrase asking you to phrase your question differently.
Terrible customer service. Genuinely fully automated, feel free to research.
no support from humans only AI that can't solve anything. It somehow manages to be rude and just hangs up the phone.
Restaurant reviews removed — now you order blind
Hiding written customer reviews is seen as deliberate deception: users believe weak venues are artificially shown as five-star, and there's no way to tell where you're ordering from.
just eat wont show you peoples reviews anymore how are other people meant to know about the place?
you stopped showing user reviews on restaurants, inflating 2-star restaurants to show up as 5-star since you can't see what people are writing
No longer being able to read reviews an absolutely disgusting business practise. This is a very clear attempt to trick customers
Discounts and promos are bait — at checkout it's «not available»
Promised first-order discounts and offers like buy-one-get-one routinely fail to apply: the total doesn't drop at checkout, and with markups the «discounted» price ends up higher than in-store.
offers discount then at checkout "this isn't available for your account"
Their 'Buy One Get One Free' offers are a trap; if you don't manually add the second item, they just send one and refuse to help or offer a refund.
why say £10 off first order, then not take off £10. sad excuae for an app. -1 *
Fee on fee on fee: delivery, service, tips — cheaper to collect yourself
Multiple per-order fees, item markups and a tip prompt before delivery inflate the total by around 50%, and many advise calling the restaurant directly or collecting yourself.
when you add delivery charge, service charge ,tip etc i ended up paying 50% more than just picking it up myself
The charges are just ridiculous, you'll be paying just for opening the app before you know it.
shocking, charging a delivery fee , and a service fee , won't be using again , you're a disgrace 😠😠😠
You can't cancel, they cancel for you — and leave you with cold food
There's no in-app cancel button, yet the service itself cancels after an hour or more of waiting «due to driver shortage», by which point restaurants have closed and the food has gone cold.
The app doesn't have a bottom to cancel your order.
cancelled my order after waiting over 90 minutes, with an hour of the order saying it was arriving so could not even cancel in app
Orders accepted and then cancelled an hour later due to "shortage of drivers at the restaurant", by which point restaurants have closed.
A barrage of notifications that won't stop even when you disable them
Marketing pushes arrive several times a day, including early morning, and keep coming even after every notification is switched off — users threaten to report it to the regulator.
I disabled notifications in the app settings so why do I keep getting notifications on the app about special offers I dont care about
I turn off email, messaging & app notifications yet I'm still getting bombarded with notifications from Just Eat.
way too many marketing notifications, I don't need asking 5 times a day if I'm gonna eat, who is having takeaway 5 times a day?!
Food turns up cold, spilled and incomplete
Recurring complaints about cold soggy food, drinks spilled half-empty and items missing at handover — followed, again, by refused compensation.
Awful, wrong items delivered and delivered cold with drinks spilled. contacted them but they don't care, rejected refund for damaged items.
clumsy and spill food and drinks in the hallway during handover, photo evidence submitted but never refunded for anything
it made me wait an extra hour for my food nad it arrived cold
Loses the map and address, screens hang, login fails
Technical faults: the map shows the wrong delivery address, the payment screen loads forever, delivery notes get swapped, and sign-in sometimes dies on «Something went wrong».
can't get past "Something's gone wrong, sorry. Try again" error after launching
App doesn't work, won't let me sign in or register a new account, it just says "something went wrong"
you need to update map shows wrong delivery address
