Mindvalley: Self Improvement reviews
What users love and hate, from real reviews
A premium personal-growth platform of courses, meditations and community led by star coaches — where almost everyone loves the content, but the pricey app constantly breaks, tearing users in two.
What users love
The content genuinely changes lives — star teachers across every area
Fans call it the best investment they've ever made: courses cover every area — money, relationships, health, spirit — with world-class author-teachers. Many pay for years and see real shifts.
Life changing programs. Daily meditations. Healing music. If personal growth is important to you, Mind Valley is a perfect fit
Absolutely love Mindvalley some of the best money I have ever spent in my life Vishen is so inspiring and gave me a fire in my belly for life I have never had before.
Powerful training platform with some of the world's best speakers and trainers.
A huge catalog of courses, meditations and a real community
Users love the variety and depth: there's a quest for any need, you can work on several areas at once, and there's a motivating community of like-minded people and teachers around it.
love this app The quests are great you can literally find a quest on anything that will help you to improve on your skills or learn something totally new.
This is an amazing app, with amazing quests, meditations, events, and a great community of teachers and learners.
It offers a wealth of programs to help me work on whatever area I want to improve in my life.
What users hate
People love the content, but the app falls apart
The most common refrain: the courses and teachers deserve five stars, but the app itself is awful. People drop to 1-2 stars purely for the app, while explicitly praising the content.
The content is great. I'd give the content a 5*. Recently the app is not functioning as it used to.
The content is good but the app is a mess.
The content, format and organization is really great and enjoyable but functionality of the app needs improvement.
You can't cancel — the app crashes on "Manage Subscription"
The loudest pain point: trying to cancel, tapping "Manage Subscription" force-closes the app. People try dozens of times, email with no reply, and end up cancelling the card through their bank.
This app will not let me cancel my subscription. It closes every time I try to do it.
Manage Subscription crashes. Not possible to cancel subscriptions.
clicking billing in the app force closes app... only way to cancel membership.
After updates the app crashes on launch
Every update breaks the app: it crashes on open, and the only fix is an endless uninstall-reinstall-relogin loop. Android and Samsung owners complain most.
App updated today and now crashes immediately when I try to open it. Cleared cache, restarted, nothing i try works.
everytime they release an update it stops working and you have to uninstall and reinstall
I have to continually uninstall it and reinstall it just to continue with the course.
Video and audio buffer and cut out — even on fast internet
On 100+ Mbps connections videos buffer every few seconds and meditations randomly pause. You can't finish even a two-minute clip or get through a meditation in peace.
Very poor performance of app videos buffer after every 2-5 seconds and it becomes annoyingly impossible to finish even a 2 minutes video.
even though I'm on wifi and watch 4k videos effortlessly... videos in the app buffer so bad that I can't do one single exercise.
The videos keep loading, buffering killing interest. though my internet speed is 100mbps line.
Paid in full — but no access, asked to subscribe again
Money debited, annual plan paid — yet the app deems it 'cancelled' and demands a fresh trial. Courses stay locked for weeks while support stalls.
I paid for one year subscription and the app is asking me to upgrade the subscription, deeming my subscription 'cancelled'.
I have done payment, money got debited. but is not working, when I contacted them, they said they can't do anything
I had very good experience with the app from last 3 years however this time when I made the payment of annual renew the amount got deducted but still not able to access any quest from last one month.
Expensive, almost all paywalled, and the 'free' ads mislead
The $299-588/year price shocks, and you only learn it after 20 minutes of setup. Previously free sounds and meditations are now locked too, and the 'free' promised in ads turns out to be a lie.
it's not free it's $399 per year or $49 per month. the add said it was FREE but it's not 😞
Only after you spend 20 minutes getting set up do they drop the bomb that it will cost you a minimum of $299/year to use this app, or $49/month ($588/year).
Earlier many sounds were free but after recent update now they are also behind the subscriptions. It's very low and money grabbing act for them.
They keep charging after you cancel and remove the card
People disable auto-renew and delete their card details — yet still get charged, sometimes on a new card they never provided. Refunds are refused, citing just-updated policies.
even if you cancel the 7 days subscription through Google play or App Store, they still charge your bank card monthly, directly from their website
Despite opting out of auto- renewing membership and even removing my credit card details from my profile, they charged me another years subscription.
After canceling my automatic payments and my subscription online, they continue to charge my credit card.
Support is an AI bot — no way to reach a human
Instead of humans, a looping virtual assistant that can't understand questions, broken WhatsApp links, and ignored emails. One non-committal reply a day at best.
Customer service is hard to reach, and they auto-renew subscriptions
The virtual assistant is useless. it just loops no matter what you tell it.
You can't speak to customer service because there is no customer service. It's just ai.
Streaks reset — meditations don't get counted
Months-long meditation streaks drop to zero after an update or crash, and minutes sometimes don't log at all. For a daily practice that stings.
meditations do not register and breaks my streaks which in the grand scheme of things is not a big deal, but so very frustrating and aggravating.
Then the app wiped my streak record about 18 days ago.
I lost my 151 day meditation streak when the app updated. Apparently, I can't get that back.
No background play or audio-only mode — the screen sleeps and the lesson restarts
Turn off the screen or switch apps and the meditation stops and starts over. For audio lessons and eyes-closed meditation that's killer — and it burns battery and data.
If the screen turns off, the course stops and must be starting from over again.
A MEDITATION APP that allows your phone to go to sleep AND doesn't have a mode that keeps playing with the screen off is crazy.
Don’t stop the Audio if we come off the app, or want to turn off the phone screen... pretty annoying and not efficient...specially on meditations.
Downloaded lessons won't play offline
The download feature is useless: saved videos and meditations won't play offline or crash the app. Plan to listen on a flight and you're left with nothing.
Downloaded videos to play on the plane, but they don't even work.
Now the downloaded videos won't play when it's offline. Which means the download function is again useless.
there is option to download the quest lessons even after dowloading it, without internet it wont open it just crahses the app
