Momo: AI Photo & Video Maker reviews

What users love and hate, from real reviews

An AI avatar, headshot and video maker that turns your photos into portraits and clips, where nearly every review hits the same wall: you pay for a subscription, then still can't use it without buying coins on top.

What users love

When it does work, the portraits come out genuinely good

The few who get all the way through praise quality, accurate images and videos; for some the output is good enough for a professional headshot or website photo. The product itself can deliver — the problem is how few people ever reach that point.

The app is very good. Produces quality and accurate images and videos.

Love this app! Perfect for using as a professional headshot!

This app produced great photos, but it has a terrible pricing model.

Weak spots

What users hate

The subscription doesn't unlock anything — you still need coins on top

By far the loudest complaint: people pay for a weekly, monthly or yearly plan expecting "full access," then get a handful of coins good for one or two generations before the app demands they buy more coin packs. The subscription feels like a cover charge, not the product.

SCAM. YOU PAY FOR "FULL SUBSCRIPTION" THEN THERE ARE ONLY 60 COINS AND ONE GENERATION WILL TAKE 50 COINS, SO YOU'LL NEED TO BUY MORE. SCAM

This is a nothing but a scam. You pay the subscription and then have to pay for everything in it if you want to use it.

utter rip off, you still have to pay for each generation of images even though you also have to pay for a monthly subscription.

One result per weekly subscription, then a wall of waiting

After paying for a week you genuinely get just one photo or video, and the next free batch of coins only arrives in ~160–167 hours — exactly when the subscription auto-renews. Users explicitly call out the timing as a deliberate trap.

you pay for one week then you can only make 1 video without buying coins?what a ripoff

Paid for a subscription, then prompted to buy more coins or wait 127 hours after only creating ONE photo!

I was shocked to see that I now have to wait 163 hours just to generate a second image

No way to try it — you pay before you ever see a result

The app offers no free sample or demo at all: payment is required before you see a single generated frame. Even the "free trial" is paid. Many back out and uninstall before ever reaching the product.

A demonstration is not available. Payment is required upfront.

why would I pay before I can even try it out. stupid marketing

First off, you have to PAY for a trial.

Begs for a 5-star review on launch, before you've done anything

The review prompt pops up the instant you first open the app — before any feature or paywall. Users read it as rating manipulation and openly explain why the score is high while every written review is negative.

App just opened and they are already requesting a review.

asks for a review before it asks you to pay 🤦

It asked me to leave a review before I could even do anything, that's 1 star behavior.

The gallery won't open — photos from it won't load

Even after paying, the core action — picking photos from your gallery — often just fails: the button does nothing, the screen loops back to "camera or gallery," the app crashes. Permissions granted manually, cache cleared, reinstall — none of it helps.

you click on gallery to add pictures and it does nothing. added permissions manually still doesn't work.

the app will not let me connect to my gallery for photos

crashes when I try to add photos so it's basically useless

The output looks nothing like you — wrong face, wrong race, wrong hair

When generation does run, the portraits often look nothing like the person in the uploaded photos: the face, age, hairstyle, even race come out wrong. Bald users get hair added, grey-haired ones ignored, heads out of proportion to bodies.

I'm white with a 6 inch beard and they made me Asian with a mustache.

the app made me look nothing like me

I have been shaving my head for years now and keeps giving me hair. also it either ages me too much or makes me too young.

Generation drags 30+ minutes or never finishes at all

The promised "one minute" stretches to 30–45 minutes or even hours; the timer only climbs and the photo or video never arrives. Coins get deducted anyway, and a retry costs coins again.

Tells you the video will be ready in 1 minute. But here I am, 32 minutes later, and it's still "ready in 1 minute"!

time kept going up and up, never got my photos.

24 hours still waiting for 6 ai pics to be created and its still thinking.

Charges your card without consent and after you cancel

People report hidden and repeat charges: a one-week fee turns into a weekly one, money keeps coming out after cancellation, and some are billed for an app they never even installed. Cancelling and getting a refund is its own ordeal.

Charged me $300 for an app I had never even downloaded and stole my money

I canceled my subscription and they still charged me so if you cancel your subscription days ahead of time they will still charge you.. that is dishonest

I was charged a 6.99 fee and then every week after I was charged 9.99 until I finally caught it.

Support goes silent and refund requests get denied

When something breaks, support tickets go unanswered for weeks and refund requests get a canned denial with no explanation. Some users end up disputing the charges through their bank instead.

I contacted support, shared a screen recording, and followed their troubleshooting steps, but the issue was not resolved. Unfortunately, my refund request was also declined.

I emailed customer support about the issue. Their response was that we can't give a refund.

I messaged on IG and Email for support and have received no corraspondance back in roughly a week.

Ads promise free videos the app doesn't actually deliver

TikTok and Facebook ads show flashy dancing videos and free access, but in reality there are either no video features at all, or the result is a weak three-second clip for real money. The gap between the ad and the product is its own source of anger.

It also advertises AI video (e.g., dancing dogs), but there are no video features — only seems like AI photos. Very misleading

It's NOT what the ad shows it was some weak 3 second video

adverts shows its free and then when you download it its monthly !!
