myPurina – Pet Rewards App reviews

What users love and hate, from real reviews

Purina's loyalty program where you scan pet-food receipts to earn points for coupons and gifts — but the technical reliability of receipt scanning and reward fulfilment keeps letting loyal buyers down.

What users love

The core value: points for food you'd buy anyway

The most common reason for five stars: people already feed their pets Purina, and the app simply gives some money back as coupons and gifts. Scan a receipt, points add up, and they turn into things you actually use.

love the app get rewards for products you already buy

always easy to earn points for items that I already buy love theor products for my dogs

I love getting rewards for the items I buy. I'm glad my daughter told me about myPurina

Coupons genuinely save money — especially for rescuers and multi-pet homes

For people feeding cat colonies, packs of dogs and rescuing animals on a budget, the $10 coupons and free gifts are real help. Multi-pet households rack up points fast and praise the savings.

I am a cat colony Mom and have cats in my home. The Purina app saves me money so I can continue to feed them the best I can while on a budget.

As a rescuer, the $10 of coupons are definitely a welcomed, added bonus.

I have 3 dogs, 3 kittens, and 10 cats. the points help me earn coupons and gifts.

Gifts, tips and pet profiles make the app feel like its own community

Beyond points, many love the content: care tips, feeding recommendations tailored to a pet's profile, bonding activities (Happi), free samples and surprises. You can upload a photo of your own pet.

I have been able to get recommended feeding guidelines for all 3 of my fur babies, based on their profile info. There's an activity to help develop a closer bond

In 2 weeks of following Happi's daily advice for productive and purposeful interaction, we are like peas in a pod!!!

it also gives you useful tips, gives information on how to bond with them better, what food is recommended after you answer a few questions

When it works — uploading receipts and getting rewards is easy and fast

For a chunk of users it's seamless: snap a receipt, points post, coupons arrive in the mail fast, and support responds instantly and kindly. For them the app is a simple, pleasant must-have.

It is so easy to upload your receipts to get points. The layout is super easy to navigate and everything runs really smoothly.

Anytime I've had an issue, whether it be my receipt wasn't taken or my reward didn't come through, contacting them through email or by phone has been quick and easy.

Excellent app! I love scanning my receipts and getting stuff for the points. The coupons are fantastic. They send them through the mail but they usually arrive super fast!

Weak spots

What users hate

After an update the app endlessly demands camera permissions that are already granted

The single most common pain: after an update, trying to upload a receipt throws a demand to grant camera and file access even though every permission is already enabled in phone settings. Reinstalling, clearing cache and rebooting don't help.

App is useless if you can't do that would not recommend

It keeps saying I need to grant permission to upload pictures. It has permission in my settings.

current version keeps asking for camera and media permissions when trying to upload receipts even though it already has both in Android settings. Clearing cache and storage didn't fix, uninstall/reinstall didn't fix.

Rewards and points vanish or simply never arrive for months

People save up points, order a coupon or gift, and then wait weeks or months with nothing arriving. Support promises to reship, but nothing comes — and the points are already gone.

I redeemed my points for the collapsible water bowl a month ago, and it never arrived

ordered a fun pet item. It is now the end of April and still not received, despite emailing on March 3 and being told they were reshipping immediately.

I saved up and scanned every receipt for over a year. I saved up all kinds of points for rewards.. I ordered rewards and they never come.

Receipts get rejected as unreadable or duplicates, especially from Amazon and Chewy

The app rejects perfectly valid receipts: sometimes "can't read it," sometimes "duplicate," and it refuses online orders from Amazon, Chewy and other stores. There's no clear way to dispute a rejection.

They apparently don't accept a receipt from Amazon to earn points.

Purina says it's not clear. so I submit a receipt again, then Purina said duplicate receipt!

Chewy receipts fail every time I upload them, despite having ALL the info it asks for.

The app won't load: a red spinner, sign-in errors, an endless Terms screen

Even basic startup breaks: "account cannot be accessed," a red page spinning for days, or after accepting the terms an "Error updating profile" that throws you back to the Terms screen. Logging in is hit or miss.

the app won't open or load now and I've just Uninstaller and reinstalled and the red page just keeps spinning for 3 days now

After accepting again and hitting continue, it says 'Error updating profile' and brings me right back to the acknowledgement again.

refuses to load at all, saying my account cannot be accessed at this time

Rewards are paper coupons that are hard to actually redeem

Coupons arrive on paper by mail and don't work online or in the right stores: Walmart carries nothing the coupon covers, or they send a coupon for the wrong pet's food. People keep asking for digital coupons that work on Amazon.

the coupon rewards (which are paper) do me no good because no stores carry the pro plan. If the paper coupons were digital instead and could be redeemed on Amazon, I would give the app 5 stars.

they give you a 3 dollar coupon that's no good at Walmart because they have nothing in store that the coupon covers so you get nothing

Requested coupon for dog treats but received coupon for Pro Plan food that I can't use for my dog that is on prescription food.

The rewards catalogue is shrinking while the points rate gets cut

Long-time members notice the good gifts (treats, toys) replaced by t-shirts and swag, cat options trimmed, and fewer points awarded for the same $80 a month. It feels like the terms are being quietly downgraded.

Now the selection is pathetic and the free stuff is t-shirts, so essentially for you to provide them free marketing using your hard earn points

I usually spend about $80 a month and it would be about 1.3k points and they dropped it to 800 points. I'll be switching.

I would like this app more if there were more reward options to choose from as the selections are very limited

Support replies with templates, ignores people, and never fixes anything

Emails and calls go nowhere: AI-template replies like "check spam folder," promises to "look into it," then silence for weeks. Some users get no reply at all.

They've been ignoring me for 2 weeks now. Its not worth the headaches.

I've sent messages about this and only gotten AI reply back and forth and nothing is fixed.

keep being told to check my spam folder and the link is NOT in there

Only cats and dogs are supported — other pets and breeds don't exist

Registering a pet only offers cat or dog: owners of chickens, goats, and even AKC-recognised breeds have no option. It alienates people who buy Purina food for non-standard animals.

I have pet chickens and goats which only eat Purina brand food (from Wilco) but when it asked me to enter my pets it requires that I specify if it's a cat or dog with no other options.

He is one of the 200+ official breeds that the AKC recognizes, and it's not even a choice. However, they list tons of unethical mutts as an option.

No tiene; Puerto Rico disponible para colocar la direccion. no importa cuantos puntos recivas no podras usarlos.

Points expire without warning, and there are no notifications

Hard-earned points just expire because there are no push notifications about expiry. Support refuses to restore them — people lose two or three thousand points at once.

definitely needs a push notifications for expiring points! I lost 2,220 points that I didn't know were expiring and customer service says they "can't" replace them.

points expire without reminder. cannot link other online accounts for digital receipts

lost 1300 reward points that have not been replaced
