Netflix reviews

What users love and hate, from real reviews

The biggest video-streaming service with a catalog people love and a slick app — but the loyalty tax of price hikes, ads on paid plans and draconian "household" rules is turning viewer love into anger.

Strengths

What users love

When it works, it's the benchmark: catalog, smoothness and offline downloads

For a huge share of viewers Netflix stays the gold standard: a massive library of films, series and originals, smooth buffer-free streaming, spot-on recommendations and offline downloads for travel.

K-Dramas, movies, documentaries - all in A+ quality. Can download for offline viewing. Smooth UI, no buffering. Subscription is worth it.

It handles low-speed mobile connections better than any competitor without buffering, and the high-production original series make the subscription well worth it.

Download feature is perfect for travel. Profiles keep my recommendations separate from my siblings and no ads.

Recommendations and a slick interface that "know you better than yourself"

A clean, fast, intuitive interface with the "My Netflix" tab makes it easy to resume on any device, and personalized recommendations reliably hit the viewer's taste.

I love the way how it makes the perfect recommendations for me. It knows me better than i know myself!

The UI is incredibly smooth, and the 'My Netflix' tab makes it so easy to pick up where I left off.

The user interface is incredibly fast, responsive, and intuitive across devices.

Some viewers still believe the paid plan is genuinely ad-free

For those on the ad-free plan, the absence of ads remains the killer argument for Netflix over rivals that still run ads even on paid tiers.

Netflix doesn't give ads if you buy ad free and it supports a great catalogue of films and shows. plus they all are in the 2k or Ultra Hd

the other apps, I use has subscriptions but still show ads but netflix is only app which I loved soo much

Mudah guna, boleh tengok bila-bila masa dan tak ada iklan. Sesuai sangat untuk relax waktu free

Weak spots

What users hate

"Netflix Household" locks the paying user out of their own account

The household check punishes the most loyal: people get logged out on their own phone, the "I'm Traveling" button never appears, and a family member — or the payer themselves — can't sign in, after years of paying.

lock me out of my own account on my own phone that I pay every month for 5plus years

they told me that my device is not part of the netflix household for my account:) wdym i paid to watch

The "I'm Traveling" button doesn't even show up most times to allow us to temporarily watch

Ads crept into the paid plans people bought specifically to avoid them

Viewers pay a subscription and still get 5-6 ad breaks per episode, ads louder than the show itself, and a sense of betrayal — escaping ads was the whole reason they left cable.

6 ads in one episode, ridiculous. Starting to hate this company.

no matter how much you pay for subscription, adds are already there even if you pay not to see it

now has ads in standard purchase pack. are you forgetting the whole reason we abandoned cable?

Favorite shows vanish from the catalog and get cancelled mid-story

The catalog — the whole point — undercuts itself: series get pulled, good shows get axed after one season leaving viewers without an ending, and there's less and less reason to keep paying.

theres no point in paying for a service that takes all my favorite shows off

Stop removing amazing shows and movies for other shows/movies that will not ever be as perfect

Stop cancelling successful shows, Like The Brothers Sun. I'm probably going to cancel my sub on principle.

Video just won't play: endless loading, black or green screen

A widespread playback failure: hit play and the screen goes black or green, content spins on loading forever, and reinstalling or clearing cache doesn't fix it.

every content goes in the loading state, worst experience, can't watch anything

videos are all just blank screen with audio! literally unusable!

after the update on my phone my Netflix screen is green and not actually playing the video

Forcing an email onto every profile feels like data-harvesting

The new requirement to attach a separate email to each profile reads as invasive data collection and selling, the popup blocks profile access, and people threaten to cancel over exactly this.

no one wants to be FORCED to add their email to each account profile...

they force you to add personal information such as email to each profile. another way to collect and sell your data.

Personalised New Ways To Enjoy Netflix popup is blocking me from accessing my profile.

Charges continue after cancellation, payments don't reach the account

A painful money knot: people get charged after cancelling, plans get upgraded without consent, and a paid subscription doesn't register in the app — account on hold, money gone.

after you unscribe you still keep billing me, i already unsubscribe before the the due date. still billing me.

upon auto subscription you upgraded my plan without my permission. That is not fair at all!

payment bhi kr di phir bhi ek bhi movie play nhi hui I'm really feel wasted my money

Prices climb while value shrinks — a growing sense of greed

Steady price hikes alongside show cancellations, ads and capped 1080p (4K only on premium) build a consistent narrative: the company gets pricier and greedier every year.

This app gets worse and worse every year, more and more expensive.

I'm getting very tired of Netflix, increasing the prices and canceling all of the good shows.

subscription with ads? laughable. Also why is video quality 1080p? only premium gets 4k. Not worth it.

Missing regional dubs and subtitles users already paid for

Viewers in India and other regions pay full price but get no Hindi/Tamil dub or subtitles — and language availability isn't shown before payment, which feels like a bait-and-switch.

why am I not getting access to the Hindi dub of viral hit and many other shows and episodes?

Why do most movies not have Tamil subtitles and Tamil audio?

Netflix should make its regional audio and subtitle availability completely clear before forcing users to pay for a subscription.

Signing in and creating an account is a nightmare of email verification

Email-link sign-in breaks down: a link-less email, a loop back to "create account" in the Android app, a demand to verify the device with someone else's phone — kicking people out of their own subscription.

signing in to the app is the greatest hassle ever

there's no way of creating in account via Android app. They send a link to your email to create an account.

I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PROVE MY ACCOUNT IS MINE ON MY PHONE!

Casting to TV got cut, pushing you to buy an extra device

Screen casting was deliberately disabled on ad plans, unlike rival services — so to watch on the big screen you now have to buy a separate device.

Casting does not work (unlike every other streamer).

6/26 they intentionally disabled screen casting for ad versions of the payment plan.

changes were made to not support casting or mirroring to TV and would require me to purchase another device

DRM silently drops HD to SD — Widevine L1 falls back to L3

On L1-capable devices the quality suddenly drops to L3/SD, and the only workaround is reinstalling the app before every viewing; DRM only inconveniences paying customers.

have to reinstall app every time to play hd content (widevine L1), if i close the app and open again, it goes back to standard definition playback (widevine L3)

pls fix the widevine problem, my device support L1 but always suddenly changes to L3 in the application

Regularly having widevine L3 downgrades on several devices. As is always the case DRM does nothing but inconvenience paying customers.
