Nomo - Sobriety Clocks reviews
What users love and hate, from real reviews
A free, no-nonsense sobriety tracker built by a single passionate developer, beloved for its heart and counters yet plagued by bugs and a forced sign-up on Android.
What users love
The clocks are the core value that works even when nothing else does
The sobriety counters are what keeps people coming back. You can run as many clocks as you need across different addictions and habits, and for many it's the one reliably working part.
you can put multiple clocks and connect with others in sobriety. No ads at all!!!! recommend <3
Very useful for keeping track of any type of progress on a clock system.
Still, the clocks themselves work well, and I use the refocusing tools often.
Free with no paywall — its standout competitive edge
Users love that it's entirely free, with no subscription and no ads, while rivals charge 8–10 dollars a month. For many that's the deciding factor.
this app is great and the only truly free sobriety tracker
every semi decent addiction app that made you pay at least 8 to 10 dollars a month, but with nomo you don't have to.and that is what sets this app from all the others.
An app that doesn't string you along with empty promises only to throw a paywall in your face? what a novel concept!
Money and calories saved — the most motivating feature
The tally of money, time and calories saved genuinely stuns people and keeps them going on hard days, making it vivid how far they've come.
the money saved feature has been the most eye-opening for me. Seeing both the time and money add up reminds me how far I've come
I love the money saved option. It's scary how much we saved
Nearly three years using it and still shocks me on the money saved and the calories avoided, totally recommend
The solo author's heart builds real trust
People especially value that it was built by one caring person (Parker), himself in recovery, rather than a big company chasing money. It earns warm trust and a wish to support him.
Especially knowing that this isnt made by some rich company but by a guy that cares, and has his own family,is so much more comforting.
An app made by a real person making a real difference to so many lives. thank you Parker.
The app works perfectly and the developer is a very fine person who deserves your support
No nagging notifications — the calm former addicts want
For many it's precisely the absence of daily pushes and pressure that worked, where other apps' endless reminders made things worse. You check in only when you choose to.
finally a sobriety clock that doesn't send you notifications every day
other apps will give you endless reminders and notifications, and that made it worse for me. this one is really minimal
doesn't force motivational quotes if I don't want them. highly recommend this to those who want to track sobriety in an easy and hassle free way
The community and support make sobriety less lonely
The encouragement wall, accountability partners and a sense of 'one big family' help people ride out cravings: they read others' posts in a hard moment and draw inspiration.
it's a great app with people that actually care about you. it's like we're all one big family ❤️
when I'm not doing great it's really helpful to flick through others' posts and get some inspiration. everyone who has given advice and encouragement has been so incredibly helpful.
It helps me stay connected to my recovery! Being able to relate with other people that have the same struggles and strengths in life that I do!
Recognises any addiction or habit — flexible tracking
You can track anything from substances to behavioural addictions, and even new healthy habits. That breadth and the customisation to personal goals is a strength in its own right.
I use this app to track many things I've removed from my life. I also use it to track things I've added to life, like beginning a health regimen and new habits.
The app recognizes the wide range of addictions from substances to behaviors and offers options for accountability and support.
I can tailor it to my personal addictions, it has many useful features
What users hate
On Android the app barely runs: black screens, freezes, crashes
A constant stream of Android complaints: the app hangs on the splash or logo, shows a black or white screen, lags and crashes. Many never even reach the home screen.
have heard good things about this but it doesn't load. just a blank black screen.
app just stopped working the app opens and stays on a blank screen
This app barely worked on my Android phone. T screen would go black and freeze and resulted in me having to delete this app.
A mandatory account requirement scares people off at the door
Plenty of users can't see why a time counter needs an email account with verification, and uninstall before they ever start. Some even read it as a risk of leaking sensitive addiction data.
Wants you to create an account to track time? Yeah, right... This is one of the worst apps there is.
I don't want to create an account
Don't need to make an account for something like this. Boo.needs way too many permissions too.
Sign-up and login are broken: email won't type, verification never arrives
Even those willing to register get stuck: the email field won't accept input, the verification email never lands with no resend button, and login loops on a wrong-password error.
Trouble with creating an account. I can't type my email address here, when I try to write down my email address the keyboard is showing. How do i type?
No verification email had been sent to my email address (yes I checked spam) and there was no button to resend the email. This app was useless and I had to uninstall.
The email verification step seems broken, I can't get in.
Creating and resetting clocks often just fails
The core function lets people down: they go through naming and time setup, reach finalising, and land on an empty 'My Clocks' list. Some can't even reset a clock.
I can't create a new clock. I go through the naming and time process and it starts finalising, then goes to My Clocks with a blank list. Most disappointing.
Clocks cannot be created. Tried with 5 attempts, restarting app etc. Good luck.
this app fails to create a new clock. pls fix this bug
Setting the time is agony: minute-by-minute scrolling and wrong timezone
The non-standard time entry forces minute-by-minute scrolling, taking minutes to shift a few hours. There's no timezone option, so the day count is off for users outside the US.
When setting the time you have sober you have to scroll through minute by minute to get to the correct time ie- changing 12:15pm to 12:00am, which takes about 5 minutes.
Last straw was that the time entry isn't standard and you can just change it by advancing 1 minute at a time.
You cannot enter your local time region, so even though I've been sober 32 days it says I've been sober 31 days
The bottom ad covers the control buttons
The bottom banner partly covers the toolbar and settings button, making it impossible to reset or edit a clock. When dismissed, Google blacks out the area itself, so the controls stay out of reach.
the ads at the bottom keep blocking the settings button making it impossible to reset the clock, ask for help, or edit it in any way.
The ad at the bottom overlaps partially the bottom toolbar making it hard to use the toolbar.
The ad at the bottom is partially obscured.
A dated, neglected interface and navigation with no back button
The design feels like 2005–2010, navigation is unintuitive, the back button closes the whole app, and by users' accounts the developer hasn't updated it in a long time.
It seems like an early 2005 - 2010 interface and my brain has a hard time using it.
Keeps exiting the app when I press back no matter what page I'm at. Also, not very user friendly. Developer seems to have gone mia
The only thing that worked for me was the clocks but when I would hit the back button the whole app would close.
No home-screen widget — a frequent request
Users repeatedly ask for an Android widget so they can see the counter and milestones right on the home screen, especially when a craving hits, without opening the app.
No widgets for home screen.
Would like it see an update with android enabled widgets for home screen, making it easier to see how far you've gone with out it, when a craving starts for example
There should be a widget for tracking as well
Text fields and the journal don't work: the keyboard won't appear
In the journal and input fields the keyboard won't pop up, you can't place the cursor or paste, and the encouragement button sometimes never appears, leaving whole sections unusable.
In the journal a keyboard doesn't pop up so the journal option isn't functional whatsoever.
Can't write encouragement the button doesn't appear!
The text box won't let you touch to move cursor, can it change upload photo.
Touch misfires: scrolling registers as a button press
While scrolling, the app mistakes a finger drag for a press and opens a random option, and the bottom of windows gets cut off, making it easy to misclick and hard to control.
I don't like when you scroll through it automatically selects where your finger is on the screen and pulls up that option
The sensitivity of the buttons. So many times has it thought I am pressing a button when I'm actually trying to scroll up or down.
When you drag the settings menu up or down it registers the action as a button press instead of a drag.
A pushy rating prompt blocks you from using the app
The 'rate this app' screen loops on startup: you can't get past it, yet you can't actually leave a rating either, rendering the app useless.
i initially rated as 4 but now it wont let me go past the rate this app page which has niw rendered this app useless to me so disappointing
won't let me actually use the app because of them asking for a rating
Keeps asking me to rate it on startup but it never lets me actually rate it, so - here goes.
