Paramount Plus reviews

What users love and hate, from real reviews

A streaming service with a strong catalog (Star Trek, Taylor Sheridan shows, and now UFC) that users tolerate purely for the content — because the app itself crashes, buffers and throws errors on phones and smart TVs.

What users love

The catalog is the main (often the only) reason people stay: Star Trek, Sheridan shows, UFC

Users genuinely love the content: Star Trek, the Dutton Ranch / Tulsa King universe, Nickelodeon classics — and many keep the sub purely for one or two exclusives. UFC landing on the service is met with delight as a huge saving versus PPV.

I have Star Trek back! All my old friends right in my hand.

unlimited UFC for nine bucks a month literally sign me up

non stop issues, if it weren't for Taylor Sheridan shows I'd have canceled a long time ago.

When it works, users praise the price, convenience and "watch anywhere"

For a slice of users it just works: they praise the affordable price, smooth streaming, simple interface and the ability to watch anywhere — phone, on the go, at home. To them Paramount+ is a reliable daily service they recommend.

Fast streaming and top show, my daily app to use at home or on the go!

Runs smoothly on Galaxy S24. Great quality and easy to navigate.

this is the best app in the streaming world. I have never had any problems what so ever.

Weak spots

What users hate

Black screen on Play — the app opens but playback dies

The single most common pain: the user signs in, sees the whole catalog, hits play — and gets a black screen and a crash. Clearing cache, reinstalling and rebooting don't help; support blames a "known issue with Android."

so far I can't get it to play anything. signed in, I can see all the shows I want to watch but when I click play it simply goes to a black screen and never loads then says not responding. restarted my phone, deleted the app and re-downloaded it. nothing

Only a black screen when you select play. Update to reply: Customer service was contacted a month ago. After almost 30 minutes spent with customer service I was advised it was a known issue with Android device.

nothing plays. I load the app I'm signed in, it shows me everything available but no matter what I choose it just ends up being a black screen and telling me the application has crashed.

The app crashes the moment you launch it or pick a show

For a chunk of users the app doesn't even survive to the menu: it crashes on open or right after you tap a title, over and over, across multiple devices. Reinstalling changes nothing.

The app is completely unusable a d crashes as soon as opened. This problem is happening on 6 different devices.

It crashes and closes when starting the app

the app crashes as soon as I try to launch a show to watch.

Constant buffering and error codes (6004, 3004, 3005) break playback

Even when video starts, it buffers endlessly, freezes and spits out error codes — while other streaming apps on the same device and connection run flawlessly. Users explicitly pin it on Paramount's infrastructure, not their own hardware.

errors 6004, 3004 and many others prevents video playback. not worth the subscription.

constant buffering, or a 3005 error for failed connection. Open any other steaming app when this happens and it will run fine.

Getting a 6004 while trying to watch an episode just makes you wonder what these companies have been doing with the money being thrown at them.

Lag and freezing especially hammer smart TVs (LG, Samsung, Firestick)

On TVs the app is the slowest, glitchiest of the bunch: laggy startup, a play button stuck in the middle of the screen, frozen picture. Other services run fine on the same TV, and sometimes the app even reboots the TV itself.

this app is horrible on lg and Samsung tvs. constantly pausing and showing the play button in the middle of the screen.

app is okay. on my smart tv its garbage. laggiest app ever.

but the app doesn't run more than 5 minutes. I only have 3 apps on my TV so it doesn't make sense. I have no issues with any other app.

Downloaded videos won't play offline — downloads require internet

The whole point of downloading — watching on a plane or off-grid — is broken: offline, the app won't open your downloaded videos and demands a connection. It comes up repeatedly and strikes users as absurd.

don't expect to even see your downloads, let alone play them, without internet access. this app needs major improvements.

CANNOT USE OFFLINE! What is the point of downloading videos to watch when you are on the plane or in areas with zero connectivity

Why are you able to download content if you can't even open the app when on airplane mode?

Too many ads — and they run even on the ad-free / premium tier

More ads than regular TV: several spots every five minutes, the same ones on repeat. Worse — users who paid for the ad-free tier still get ads, including during the UFC corner talk.

1 episode of DS9 I had to watch 30+ ads every 5 mins i was forced to watch 3 to 4 ads and almost all were repeating the same ads.

I pay for no ads and you still run ads it's bs

I also paid for a premium but still get an add at the start of every movie or show

Impossible to cancel the subscription — endless loops and dead links

Cancelling becomes a quest: links go nowhere, the chatbot loops you around, you're bounced between Google and the website. People report trying to cancel for months; one says it sent them to urgent care.

It's next to impossible to cancel your subscription. it raised my blood pressure so bad, I had to go to urgent care. It should be illegal to put people through the ringer like this. it's intentional for sure.

I CAN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO CANCEL IT IT KEEPS REFERRING ME TO A LINK THAT DOESN'T EXIST. CANCEL CANCEL CANCEL!!!!!

I can't cancel! I keep being sent on an endless loop that goes nowhere despite doing exactly what the instructions say to do.

Forgets your place and episode — drops you on the wrong one

The app loses where you stopped and serves up a week-old episode — or a different show entirely — as your "next." Every time you have to manually hunt down the right season and episode.

The service will not remember what episode I'm on, constantly recommending an episode I watched days or weeks ago as my next one in queue.

doesn't remember which episode/time you are at. my least favorite streaming app by far

The app loses track of what I was watching and where I left off. In fact it switches to a different episode altogether (sometimes a different show completely).

Can't sign in, and password reset on mobile simply doesn't work

Login breaks across devices: paid on a laptop, can't sign in on the TV; "technical difficulties" for weeks. And the in-app password reset just dumps you back on the sign-up screen — you have to uninstall the app to change your password.

Fix your reset password flow on mobile. cannot reset password when app is installed as it just takes you to the sign up page. I had to uninstall the app to reset my password.

I paid n signed up on laptop. was unable to sign in on vizio smart TV. How???

haven't been able to log in for 5 days. keep saying error try again later. Don't want to keep paying for something I can't use.

UFC replays are chopped up: no walkouts, no full event end-to-end

Users who subscribed for UFC are furious that you can't watch a full event replay end-to-end: instead of one broadcast you get individual fight clips, no walkouts, no commentary, no corner segments. To get the full experience people go to YouTube.

Can't watch replays of UFC Fight Night or any UFC events in their entirety, only clips and single matches.

Stop editing out the fighter walkouts for UFC full event replays. It ruins it. just play the whole thing beginning to end, uninterrupted.

Commentators pre card intro MISSING, walk outs MISSING, in between and end of the card commentary MISSING. I paid for the service, but if you don't watch live, you have to go to YouTube for the full experience.
