Period Tracker by GP Apps reviews

What users love and hate, from real reviews

A no-frills cycle tracker that users stay loyal to for a decade-plus thanks to its minimalism and accurate predictions — but its reputation is now being wrecked by a fresh un-closeable white-box bug and a widget that has gone unfixed for years.

What users love

A decade-plus of loyalty for its minimalism and accuracy

The app's core asset is users who've tracked here for 10–20 years and refuse to switch: they're won over by a clean, no-clutter interface and predictions that land within 1–3 days of the actual date.

i swear i have had this app for over a decade. first on iphone and now android. i trust it, its grown with me. and i trust what it tells me-ovulation times, projected periods, etc

this is an excellent app, it's helped me for years and is very accurate within 1-3 days usually. really comes in handy when my doc asks a question, i just show him this

Only period tracker you need! I've been using this for over a decade, maybe 12 or 13 years now. It's the best.

Free and ad-light for basic tracking

Basic cycle tracking stays free with barely any ads, and for many that's more than enough: against competitors that lock everything behind a paywall, people prize this as "the only decent free period tracker left."

If you simply want to track when your period is about to start & don't want a bunch of extras & asking you to pay to get basic features, then I recommend this app. It's the only decent period tracker left.

0 ads simple to use tracker. absolutelt free. 🔥

Been using this app for years. really good and free for basic use, and that's more than enough.

Flexible notes and custom symptoms as a personal health diary

Beyond dates, the app lets users log mood, mark intimacy, add custom symptoms and notes on any day — people keep it as a health journal that bails them out at the doctor's when memory fails.

Very useful tracker. The capabilities to check symptoms, add new ones, and make brief notes about your daily condition are particularly helpful. I have used this app like a health journal. Very helpful for consultation when memory fails during doctor visits.

I like tracking my symptoms and being able to add customized ones I experience.

Love that you can notate stuff and it has buttons to see how your flow is and many other symptoms. You can also track your mood and when you've been intimate for free.

Helps plan pregnancy and follow it week by week

Many credit the app with helping them conceive — sometimes within a couple of months — thanks to its accurate fertile window, and expectant mothers value the pregnancy section with its week count and stage-by-stage info.

this app helped me get pregnant in less than 3 months. it's great

Between 2017-2022 ive planned 3 of my pregnancies with this app by being able to track exactly when im fertile ect 😌 its more accurate than other apps ive used

It's a really good app specially the pregnancy section with the weeks count and the info they provide for each stage of pregnancy, since I'm 7 weeks pregnant it's really helping me.

Weak spots

What users hate

A white pop-up box with a "0" covers the whole screen and won't close

After a recent update, opening the app brings up a white rectangle with a "0" in the top-left corner that no amount of tapping will dismiss; reinstalling and clearing cache don't help, and the app becomes completely unusable.

It was working perfectly until the most recent update. I can't access any of my information except for a big white rectangular box with a 0 on the left corner. i tried uninstalling and installing but still having the same problem.

pop up that fails doesn't allow me to do anything in app. pop up is all white with zero in upper left corner. I've force closed and restarted app many times. nothing allows me past this screen. s23 phone.

App shows a blank white screen with a zero in the top left corner.

The widget has been frozen on a single number for years and won't count down

The widget — the very reason many keep the app — stops updating the day count and freezes on whatever day it was loaded; users have to keep deleting and re-adding it, and can only get an accurate countdown inside the app itself, which defeats the widget's entire purpose.

the widget only displays which day of the cycle you were on on the day you loaded the widget. I don't want to have to keep opening the app to find out so looks like I'll have to find a different app.

The widget stopped updating which is the only reason I use it. Probably going to delete the app if this isn't fixed soon. It hasn't worked in several months.

FIX the widget!! Continuously reinstalling the widget to work a couple of days is pointless. Directly opening the app for accurate countdown defeats the purpose of the widget.

Switching phones wipes out years of history

Moving to a new phone or recovering an account makes years of data vanish: the backup either fails to transfer or only pulls the last couple of months, leaving people to manually re-enter a full year of symptoms and temperatures.

I was using this app for YEARS. logged into my account on a new phone and EVERYTHING is gone. Why??

Tried to port the data over from this one (I paid for the one year premium subscription). The files were listed, but no data came over. What am I supposed to do, take two solid weeks to manually input my temperature and all other symptoms from the last year? No way.

Does not save past cycles when you log into new device. I tracked for months/years then got a new device and lost all of my previous cycles

A "lifetime" purchase suddenly turned into a subscription

People who years ago paid a one-time fee for the ad-free "lifetime" premium now hit a paywall demanding a subscription for the same features they already had; they'd accept a one-off purchase, but the forced subscription feels like a betrayal and a reason to leave.

Been using this app for 13+ years and had previously paid to remove all apps for life. I now am looking at a pay wall to remove ads with a subscription. I'm so disappointed and will not be paying again.

Well I paid for this app years ago and won't give me the paid version anymore. Joke that it wants a subscription

Now, like everything, it demands an oppressive subscription to have the same features I used to have. I don't mind a one time purchase but subscriptions? time to move on.

Predictions fall apart for irregular cycles and perimenopause

The app forces irregular data into an average cycle: it silently rewrites the days you log into "prettier" numbers, flags everything past a certain point as spotting, and predicts a week off — so people with irregular cycles or perimenopause stop trusting it.

I put the information in and it will change it to something prettier like 'you bled for 4days and were off for 24days🌞'. it's making it a lot harder to keep track, especially when having to explain to my doctor

The app marking everything after a certain time as spotting is inaccurate & frustrating. Please give the option to turn that off.

this app will be a week off for me. where's the flo app it's either right on or a day off.

Notifications are set up but never arrive

Despite notifications being on and double-checked, the app fails for years to send any reminder that a period is coming — the exact reason many switched to it — and complaints and support emails change nothing.

as long as I've had it (at least 8 years and on 3 different devices) it has NEVER sent me a notification. That was the reason I moved to this app.

notifications are on. doesn't give notifications. trash.

Helpful app, however I am not receiving the period notifications even though I have several set and have made sure that my settings allow for notifications from this app :(

Login and sign-up fail with a server-communication error

Creating an account, logging in, or resetting a password often fails with a "can't communicate with server" error, after which the startup pop-up can't be dismissed and access to a years-long diary is cut off entirely.

Can't even create an account, keep getting problem communicating with server.

Unable to sign in due to a server error! :( especially with my Gmail account. not able to reset password either. please fix!

Installed app and tried to register. I just keep getting a message that says cannot communicate with server.

Partner mode shows stale status and can't be disconnected

Shared tracking for a partner/husband has long been broken: cycle updates don't come through, the app reports the partner is hundreds of days "late," and there's no way to disconnect and reconnect — even uninstalling won't clear the link.

Was working well until Jun 2025 where the data between partners are not synced or updated. So the partner mode is now effectively useless.

My partner's updates do not come to me, so it's always reading nonsense.

My wife re-invited me, i uninstall and reinstalled the app mamy time, still 740 days "late"
