PetDesk reviews

What users love and hate, from real reviews

PetDesk is a bridge between a pet owner and their vet clinic — appointment booking, vaccine reminders, prescription refills and the pet's medical record in one place; its core tension is that clinics force it as the only access channel while for some users it simply stops working.

What users love

Booking without a phone call is the number-one reason people love it

The most repeated praise is being able to book, reschedule or cancel an appointment at any hour without waiting on hold; for busy people and those who hate phone calls this removes a real pain.

Love the ability to schedule appointments without calling in

User friendly. I love being able to schedule appointments after clinic hours.

absolutely love this app. i can contact my vet or groomer for an appt without calling and being put on hold.

Everything about the pet in one place — records, vaccines, profiles

Users value having the medical record, visit history, vaccines and profiles for all their pets right in their phone: no paperwork to carry and several animals tracked in one app.

Great app for your family pets! Don't have to carry paperwork. it's all in the app!

Love having this app that is a one stop shop for everything for my pet and the vet. All the info, reminders and appointments in one place make it super easy to know anything in reference to my dog.

The app is easy to use and I have all 5 of my dog's info in one place. I can request an appointment, I get reminders, etc. Great app.

Vaccine and appointment reminders keep the owner on track

For many, the reminders genuinely help them not miss vaccines, appointments and medication — especially with multiple pets or complicated dosing schedules.

keeps you updated and reminded of what you need to do for your pets!

I can set reminders to make sure everyone gets their meds on time and it helps me keep track of those complicated dosing schedules (like 2 pills 3x day for 5 days then 1 pill 2x day for 10 days then 1 pill daily, etc...)

this is great for finding out when your pets shots are due!

Messaging the vet directly instead of waiting on the line

A distinct favourite is being able to message the clinic or doctor straight from the app and get a quick reply — it removes the need to call for every question.

No need to telephone. I love that you can send a message, arrange an appointment and get advice.

Love being able to text the office with messages getting directly to the doctor and prompt responses.

I love using this app to keep track of my cats vaccination appointments and can email about occasional questions and concerns with Quick response.

Weak spots

What users hate

Stops working after the clinic switches: all the data disappears

The most painful complaint: an app someone relied on suddenly shows only the pet's name — records, vaccine history, booking and refills vanish, and reinstalling doesn't fix it.

all I get now is the name of my pet. can't reorder meds for the dog. all info from the vet has disappeared. I uninstalled then reinstalled and signed back in. and still nothing.

nothing seems to actually work. when our vet first started using it, i could request appointments and refills through the app, but now everything just does nothing but display old info.

I can no longer access information from my vet. All of my points have disappeared

Booking and refills often break: blank screens, timeouts, dead buttons

The core functions regularly misfire: booking drops to a blank screen, the flow times out mid-way, the refill button does nothing — and the person ends up calling the clinic anyway.

basically unusable. constantly times out in the middle of booking and appointment. extremely frustrating to use.

When I click a prescription to refill it does nothing. I have reinstalled the app, closed and opened it again, etc, and still nothing.

when requesting appts it brings me to a blank screen often so I always have to call the vet anyways.

Access to records and lab results is locked behind a forced login

People complain they can't simply view lab or test results: everything is hidden behind an app login, results arrive a week late, and they have to call the clinic anyway.

This sucks! I just want to see my pet's lab results and I can't get to them.

I can't access my pet's test results without signing into this. The password requirements are ridiculous.

cant pull up lab results and they dont arrive for a week even if I could. I get notifications then have to call vet

App-only, no web access — and it enrages desktop users

A chunk of users simply don't want software on their phone: they want a web portal to view vaccine records on a computer, and killing the website for an app feels like coercion and surveillance.

Forcing customers to use a mobile device app as the only means of accessing your service is lazy. We do not all live on our smartphones.

Stop removing web portals and only having phone apps. I don't want your software on my phone. I need to be able to pull / view vac records on a website on my computer.

Couldn't even download the app to my desktop computer

Password reset is broken, and rules change silently

Sign-in is its own pain: the 'forgot password' form won't accept the email or never sends the reset, and after rules change silently the app lies that the password is wrong instead of honestly saying 'change your password'.

I forgot my password and when I click on forgot my password it takes me to a message that tells me to put in my email but it won't let me so I have no way to recover my password

it could not send me an email to reset my password- had to uninstall

don't lie to me and tell me that my password is wrong after trying every single password I have ever used in existence when in reality the requirements for a password have changed.

Reminders arrive at the wrong time: after the visit, or months late

The very reminder feature works backwards for some: 'past due' alerts come weeks or months too late, or keep firing after the appointment has already happened.

Instead of notifying me of upcoming appointments. it wait till a few weeks/months after to tell me that I'm past due on appointments.

Very annoying reminders. Reminds me after I do the appointment they keep letting me know about.

I like the App, but am confused about an appointment I made to get my cat spayed (may have been done already). The App shows no upcoming appointments?

Out of sync with the clinic: duplicate pets, dead ones shown alive

Data syncs poorly with the clinic: blank duplicate pets appear that can't be merged or replaced, and animals that died years ago stay listed as 'active' indefinitely.

the vet office scheduled the appointment and created another new pet entry, and there's no way for me to replace their blank pet entry with the one that I created and added all the details to. Gotta re-enter all of it which is annoying.

Every one of my dead Pets (over the last 15 years) is showing up as "active".

The app often doesn't sync with the veterinary clinic especially when the appointment gets changed.

Date entry by endless scrolling is torture for older pets

The birthdate field can't be typed in — you must scroll a wheel back from today, which becomes torture for a 15-year-old pet you have to spin back years to reach.

Pet Age field is ridiculous. Just t ry to provide birthdate for a 15-year-old cat.

There is no option to just enter the birthday manually, instead you have to scroll from the current date (as of this writing, it's Dec. 27, 2025) all the way to February 2018
