Pokémon Sleep reviews

What users love and hate, from real reviews

A Pokémon-flavored sleep tracker crossed with a collect-em-up: it gamifies bedtime with adorable monsters, but its core feature — actually tracking your sleep — keeps breaking, and you have to wade through a wall of screens to reach it.

Strengths

What users love

It makes sleep something to look forward to — real motivation to go to bed

The app's biggest strength: people genuinely keep a schedule because they want to see which Pokémon they caught in the morning and don't want to let their little 'goobers' down. Many say it fixed their sleep for the first time.

best sleep app ever, has me getting 8 hours every night just to make my little goobers happy

I'm an insomniac with a pokemon obsession and i'm finally getting sleep

delightful. this app makes me want to go to sleep

Adorable Pokémon and cozy vibe — what people forgive everything for

The art, the bedtime music and the sleeping Pokémon themselves genuinely delight: people look forward to the morning catch, love that there are no ads, and adore the nostalgic movie tracks during events.

very cute, and helpful irl with my sleep schedule

I love how creative this app is. I love that the app is able to record audio when you sleep, and show how you sleep! I love all the data. 10/10 I love this game.

I like waking up to see what pokemon I get and also there are absolutely no adds

Weak spots

What users hate

The core sleep tracking routinely loses whole nights

People go to bed with tracking on and wake up to 'no data' or two minutes logged instead of eight hours. It isn't a rare glitch but a systemic pain: the night vanishes, progress and rewards are gone, and there's often no way to fix it by hand.

i hate it when i sleep for ages rhen the game says " no valid sleep data found" i thoufht this game was ment to track sleep not fail whenever it wants

it doesn't track sleep sessions properly, e.g. a 10-hour sleep session only records 30 minutes.

I slept for 10 hours and it said I slept for 5. Whatever system is in place, it doesn't work.

Bedtime and wake-up bury you in unskippable screens and animations

Just to start sleeping or collect your morning rewards you have to click through a dozen confirmations, cutscenes and slow animations with no skip button. An app about sleep turns going to bed into a 10–30 minute chore.

you are forced to click through a bunch of loading screens and long animations after every sleep session to review your results with no option to skip

i just want to track my sleep, not to click click click click click

So terrible, requires 30mins of clicking to get anywhere. Do not use if you want to track sleep.

Crashes and force-closes right in the middle of recording sleep

The app shuts itself down overnight or freezes on the sleep-review screen, and then the whole night doesn't count — and the game punishes you for it on top. Trusting it as an alarm or tracker is risky.

This app shuts down for no reason after a few hours almost every night. Definitely don't trust it as an alarm or sleep tracker.

Crashes while tracking sleep far too often, and punishes you for it like it was your fault.

game freeze / crash a lot like 80% change on sleep result please fix

Sluggish everywhere: endless loading between menus

Opening your bag, your Pokémon box, or returning to the main screen each means its own long load. Lag, freezes and eaten taps hit even flagship phones, and it kills the urge to open the app.

Loading time between screens is painfully slow.

the app runs like a dump truck. I want to enjoy it a lot more, but why does every menu option need a loading screen?

The app is slow. Slow loading to check your poke box, slow to check your bag, slow to return to main screen. Slow slow slow.

Progress and Pokémon locked behind paid purchases

Without premium and microtransactions the game crawls: biscuits, diamonds and sleep points trickle in, prices are inflated, and catching the Pokémon you want is nearly impossible. Many read it as greedy pay-to-progress.

if you don't pay for their premium subscription and all of their microtransactions, then the game progresses at a snail's pace and you miss out on a bunch of basic features that cost them nothing

It has so much potential, but it's so money grabby that user experience feels like an afterthought.

progress is tedious without Premium.

Watch sync supports only three brands and keeps failing

Effectively only Fitbit, Samsung and Garmin are supported — Apple Watch, Whoop, Amazfit, Huawei are out. And even on 'supported' setups the sleep data often fails to pass through Health Connect, especially after the Fitbit-Google merge.

only works on 3 brands of smart watch so if you don't have a Fitbit, Samsung watch or Garmin then you can't use it

Sleep data import is a constant struggle, and it refuses to import on average several times a week despite my settings and permissions all being correct

does not work with fitbit/google health after the merge

Constant updates and forced downloads get in the way of just sleeping

Almost every night the app demands extra file downloads or a restart, sometimes mid sleep-review. It's annoying in itself and also bloats the app's size with new sound files.

how many updates and how much data could they possibly need. it's so slow and for what

newly updated review. come on guys, a new update every week or so? it's actually getting on my nerves

It keeps telling me to download an update and then telling me I can't, so I can't even begin the game.

Can't turn off the screen, sound or mic — it disrupts sleep and spooks privacy

To track sleep your phone lies on the bed with a bright screen on, loud music and the mic recording. Some find it creepy (audio recording, 'they'll sell our data'), others simply can't fall asleep and watch their battery drain.

why cant I turn my screen off, listen to music and maybe not require a recording? those all seem like fairly basic things to have for an app thats supposed to be about sleeping.

shouldnt have to have the screen open and unlocked to use this app

Wants to record microphone all the time. That's super invasive IMO, and there is no option to manually track sleep.

The algorithm punishes non-standard sleep: shifts, light sleepers, cats in the bed

The two-sleeps-a-day limit and the need for an uninterrupted 90 minutes break the game for shift workers, insomniacs and light sleepers. Any movement, a noisy cat or 'sleeping too long' chops off hours and zeroes out rewards.

The daily limits ruin the game for people like me. I adore Pokemon and adore the game but apparently it is only made for children with regular sleep schedules

Gorgeous game but it only registers sleep if you've slept uninterrupted for at least 90mins. As a light sleeper who wakes & stirs a lot none of my sleep gets registered 😞

No mode for people who work night shift. Not everyone has a conventional sleep schedule due to work and this game is super hard to progress in if you work night shift.

Stuck on the loading screen or locked out after an update — progress lost

After updates or on a new phone the game gets stuck at launch, throws 'you cannot use this app', or loses the account link along with years of progress. Support often 'can't find' the account.

it just won't load. This review would probably change if I could actually play the freaking game.

this pop-up appears: "Unable to use, We sincerely apologize, but you cannot use this app"

The game stopped working after 1000+ days of playing. When I reached out to Support with my ID, email, date I started, and more info, they said they couldn't find my account.

Support is useless and refuses compensation for its own bugs

When a bug eats a night and its event rewards, support replies with templates, refuses compensation and threatens bans when you ask for a refund. It hits paying players especially hard.

we are unable to provide any individual compensation or grant a player any in-game item for any reason.

Instead of fixing bugs support will just, string you along, unable to understand their own data... and when asked to refund for them living up to their side of the transaction they will threaten you with banning you.

Don't expect any actual help if something goes wrong on their end.

Leveling and the level cap stall out: content runs dry, grind is endless

The level cap is held for months, so long-time players hit a wall and lose the point of playing. And leveling a Pokémon or upgrading the pot demands absurd amounts of candy and dream shards — hundreds of days' worth.

Very cute game, BUUUT there has been a level cap for more than NINE MONTHS!! This basically halts any and all progress as soon as you hit that level.

One year without any level update? What's the point even anymore?

At level 50 it takes 215 days of 100 score sleep to level up a pokemon... one level.
