Postmates reviews
What users love and hate, from real reviews
A restaurant and grocery delivery app long since absorbed by Uber, where convenience comes at the cost of bloated fees, cold food, and support that refuses to refund you.
What users love
First-time promo codes actually work and are genuinely generous
Many users single out the welcome offers: $20–25 off the first order, up to 30% off — and unlike later promos, the starter codes actually apply at checkout.
Phenomenal starter promo code that actually works!
I was eligible for $20.00 off promotion so I love Postmates so far
the deals you get at a first time user are crazy
For loyal users it's convenient, fast, and a lifesaver without a car
A core of long-time users is genuinely happy: ordering is simple, deliveries arrive on time, the restaurant selection is wide, and it's indispensable when you can't or won't drive for food yourself.
Love Postmates, never have had a problem with my orders. I highly recommend it.
easy to order with and if there is a problem, they handle it quickly
Love using it after dialysis. Since I don't have to make any food
What users hate
Support was replaced by an AI bot that loops endlessly and helps with nothing
When something goes wrong, users hit a chatbot that won't let them type the actual problem, gives inconsistent answers, and routes the «live agent» to yet another AI. Reaching a real human or phone line is nearly impossible.
the new AI "help" option is an oxymoron. trying to get assistance with an order where you can't just type in your problem is headache inducing and the chat bot is inconsistent with its responses
the customer service is awful because its now all Ai even when they say its a real person
Ai chatbot that cant help me and when I get connected to a "live" agent its another Ai bot
They deny refunds even when the order never arrived or items are missing
The single most common pain: items missing, order never delivered, or wrong order — and support declares it «not eligible for a refund». «GPS says they stopped at the right spot» becomes the universal excuse to refuse, even against photo proof.
the GPS says they stopped at the right spot so there's nothing we can do
unreal that I can order $80+ worth of food, get half of it, and get refused for a refund
It is impossible to get a refund for items not included in your order and Postmates makes it difficult to reach them
Fees and service charges routinely exceed the cost of the food itself
A $7 sub picks up $9 in fees; a $10 meal becomes $20+. Charges stack up (service fee, menu markup, delivery), and users keep concluding that ordering directly from the restaurant is cheaper.
the Sub sandwich that I wanted was about $7 and the service fees came up to more then $9, more than my actual food
you guys overcharged way too much for $10 meal it comes out to 20 something that's ridiculous
the app shows the delivery fee is $1.49, but they charge you $11+ in fees and taxes
Food arrives cold because drivers stack multiple orders along the way
Once Uber let drivers accept multiple orders at once, hot food consistently arrives cold and frozen goods melt. The «priority» upcharge feels like ransom for what the subscription used to include.
Due to Uber allowing drivers to accept multiple orders, my food always arrives cold
Too many orders arrive cold because the drivers make multiple stops along the way
you also have to add on up to $3.99 for "priority" or your driver is going to pick up other orders on the way and yours will be delivered last
Promos and discounts vanish at checkout, leaving you paying full price
A discount applies in the cart, then silently drops at payment and the full amount is charged. Support later claims the user «wasn't eligible» for the very promo the app advertised to them.
I have applied a promo offer in my cart and then I got charged the full amount upon delivery
when I went to pay the promo was removed and I paid full price
offers a bunch of discounts then adds a service fee at the end so its just as expensive as it would have been without the discounts
You can't cancel without a penalty, even seconds after placing the order
There's a «cancel» button, but using it charges the full price plus a cancellation fee with no refund. Support replies that you «should have contacted them before cancelling» — making the button a trap.
you need to contact support before cancelling orders
there is no cancellation from this app at all. they still charge you the full price if you do and they refused to refund you
they charge you for the order plus a cancelation fee with no opportunity for a refund
Tips can only be raised after delivery, never lowered
You're pushed to tip before delivery and then blocked from reducing it, even when food is dumped at the wrong door in the rain. The tip field is also calculated on the total including fees and taxes, inflating an honest 20% by half again.
why can't I adjust the tip? food was cold because of a 40 minute driver delay
You can't edit your tip anymore, only increase it
the tipping section is borderline fraud
The algorithm assigns a far-away restaurant instead of the one nearby
You pick a chain with a branch 2 miles away, and the order gets routed to one 30 miles out, turning a 15-minute delivery into an hour and a half. The driver-facing maps are outdated and routes constantly go wrong.
why do yall always set the order place across the city
send my order from over 30 miles away when there's a taco bell 2 miles from my job
they'll toss you order to a miles away restaurant if the closest closes
Uber One signup is dropped right next to the checkout button
The Uber One signup button sits so close to the order button that users hit it by accident, and even after cancelling they keep getting charged for months. The relentless join-now screen reads as a dark pattern.
innplacing the Uber One Membership button so close to the order/checkout button that one thumb can UNINTENTIONALLY sign you up
predatory screen every time asking to join uber one
i canceled my subscription to Uber one in September 2025 which they verified but was still charging me for it
Drivers steal or dump the food, and the company sides with them
A driver snaps a «delivered» photo and drives off with the food, leaves it at someone else's door, or eats it outright — and the user still pays. Support believes the driver, leaving the customer out of pocket and hungry.
just had my order stolen by the delivery driver
Driver literally drove away with my food and I had to pay for it because he picked it up
He literally just took the photo and ran away with the order
They charge your card for orders that never reach the restaurant
The card is charged but the order never reaches the courier, hangs for hours, then simply disappears from the queue along with the money. Double charges and phantom payments happen with no way to dispute them.
when you order food through the app it charges your card. but your order never get through the carrier
the order has disappeared from my queue
I was charged 2 times for an order and no way to contact for a refund.
No status updates — you never know where the food is or when it'll arrive
The app won't show where the order is in the process or whether it's ready, yet floods you with spam notifications carrying no real info. The promised delivery time keeps sliding later, then «still on time» becomes the excuse to deny a refund.
This app never provides updates to tell me where my food is in the process and or when it's ready
They said the delivery would take 51 minutes and it ended up taking 121 minutes
will state food will be delivered in 20 min. one hour and 30 min later they state it's in window
Driver quality collapsed after the Uber merger
Long-time users note that since the Uber acquisition drivers stopped reading instructions, don't speak English, won't come to the marked spot, and juggle several apps at once. The app that was «king» in the pandemic has visibly degraded.
the quality of drivers has absolutely tanked
quality has significantly worsened since acquisition by Uber eats
my last two drivers were unable to speak or read ANY English
Payment friction: cards rejected, Uber Cash forced on you
The app rejects working cards, claims «insufficient funds» on a full balance, and auto-selects Uber Cash that then can't be used — turning checkout into a 20-minute fight. Sometimes a new card can't be added at all due to a constant error.
you automatically select Uber cash for me, make me jump through every hoop just to tell me that Uber cash cant be used
indicates that the balance on the card is not enough for payment, but the card has much more than the order is worth
won't even let me add a different credit card just constant something is wrong error
Forced ID verification and robot delivery you can't opt out of
Ordering alcohol or even placing a delivery demands an ID scan the camera won't focus on — and users fear their photo ID being leaked. Robot delivery is opt-out by default, and you can only decline it 8 days at a time.
forces delivery robot with no option to opt out
ID requirement when I'm using a gift card?
The app dosen't focus the camera so it wont accept my picture of my ID
Broken browsing: category navigation gone, restaurants «unavailable»
An update killed browsing by cuisine — without the exact restaurant name you get «We didn't find a match». For some users every restaurant opens as «unavailable», making the app useless even after reinstalling.
now I can't find any place to eat unless I know the actual name of the restaurant. The browse function is gone
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple time. it just doesn't work anymore
no matter what restaurant I click I get a message saying "nothing to eat here. The store is unavailable
