Free trading and low fees are a genuine plus
Many value the lack of trade commissions and the overall low cost; for the small investor it removes the entry barrier, though crypto fees are called high.

What users hate
Money held hostage: getting funds out is nearly impossible
Dozens complain the app holds their money — suddenly demands re-verification, restricts the account, or simply won't let you withdraw funds you deposited yourself.
They will hold your money hostage. Tried to take money out of Robinhood and return it to the same account I had deposited the funds from.
there is a verification in place (that I already went through) that does not work and will not allow me to withdrawal funds
Funds Inaccessible, Zero Customer Support
Support is effectively nonexistent — just bots and automated menus
The most recurring pain: when something breaks, you can't reach a human. Chatbots are useless, queues run 2-2.5 hours, and phone support is either unavailable or leads nowhere.

Signup and login break — locked out of your own account
Many get stuck at the door: the signup form glitches, the system says your account «already exists» or conversely «doesn't exist», codes go to an old phone, the camera won't open for the ID photo.
it is stressful trying to create an account. I created it stressfully, but it says that I already have an existing account (which I don't)

Pushy Gold ads flood the app with pop-ups
Users get bombarded with Robinhood Gold ads: every launch you have to dismiss pop-ups, and no matter how many times you hit «X» they come back — driving away even people who used to love the app.
Stop pushing me to get Robinhood gold. When entering the app it will bombard you with ads and pop ups regarding gold. Doesn't matter how much you press x or decline.
There are way too many ads on this app. I have to X out of some popup everytime I open the app
constantly getting begged to subscribe too a monthly fee so you can get a little interest is the most annoying part.
Prediction markets on the home page — gambling instead of investing
A growing complaint: the home screen forces a «prediction market» (bets on weather, elections) you can't hide without contacting support. Users see it as encouraging gambling, not investing.
no option to hide the 'prediction market's' section in the app from the home page, it's essentially gambling on everything from elections to the weather, it really cheapens the feel of the app.
Needs an option to hide the prediction market or anything not relevant to the individual user. This strikes me as an intentional design choice that benefits RH but not the end user. Encourages gambling, not investing.
Give us an option to remove crypto, prediction markets, and other bs from the homepage! Not all of us want to throw their money away!
Deposit «pending»: money debited but you can't trade
A frequent mechanism: money is instantly pulled from your bank but sits «pending» 5-7 days, while the instant balance triggers an account restriction for «unpaid purchases». People miss trades and lose money because of it.
I deposited 10k and they gave me 4k instant cash to use while my transfer processed. The 10k was immediately deducted from my bank acct. So that means Robinhood has 6k of my money hostage for 5 days

Accounts frozen without explanation for «suspicious activity»
Several users describe accounts suddenly locked over a «security trigger» or «suspicious activity», with support refusing to even explain why — and the money inaccessible meanwhile.
My assets were frozen for "suspicious activity" 5 hours for a call back after numerous requests only for them to tell me that they can't tell me what suspicious activity has occurred to freeze my account and assets.

Disabled my crypto account and they won't give me the reason for it.
Lag and crashes, especially on charts and during volatility
After recent updates the app freezes and crashes; advanced charts update slowly or are broken, and during volatility prices load slowly — causing traders to miss trades and lose money.
Horrible app that is constantly slow and crashes.
This graph doesn't update rapidly I'm just sitting here watching it and didn't notice it didn't update for like 5 minutes.

Forced Plaid and data leaks raise privacy alarms
Users are unnerved that to trade you must log into your online bank via Plaid, granting access to all your accounts — and some received a crypto scam right after signup and suspected a data leak.
they use plaid and force you to login to your online bank account and give them access to all your information. otherwise you are not allowed to trade.
I got a crypto scam message within a day of registration.
it is very weird that they now have access to one of my bank accounts and can see everything. even in my savings what I owe on a monthly card.
Hidden monthly fee that's hard to cancel
Some users discover they're quietly charged 5-10 dollars a month, even after they stopped using the app, and closing the account or cancelling is made deliberately difficult.
4 months later I found out they were charging me 10 dollars a month???
they charge you 5.00 month, If you want to cancel right away, they don't .

IPO access is advertised, but regular investors don't get shares
There's heavy frustration around IPOs (especially SpaceX): pre-orders don't execute without notice, orders get cut to a single share, and priority allegedly goes to Gold members — leaving the regular investor with nothing.
I went online over a day before SpaceX IPO went on for sale and put some money in to pre-purchase a stock. only to find out in the morning when the stock actually went on sale they did not purchase the stock for me nor did they notify me
only asked for four ipo shares, that's too hard to do, prioritized gold members to fill their orders first. 2nd class investing do not trust.
My friends and family with a much higher net worth had no issue getting SpaceX stock but the few as a novelty gift for my new grand baby didn't go through
Gamification: a pretty facade that feels like a casino
Even well-disposed users note the pretty interface is a «casino dressed up as investing»: the app nudges you toward trades and «rewards» and profits by holding your money, which keeps them from fully trusting it.
Beautiful interface and really easy to use. Sadly that's not enough for me to trust them completely, as they love gamblify and gameify trading way too much.
This app is just the gameification of gambling on the game. They will offer you nice little opportunities to Buy/Sell and "earn" "rewards".
Terrible app wrapped in a nice design.
