One screen, every way to get there — including routes you'd never think of
The core value: it lays out train, bus, ferry, taxi and flight between any two points on earth and surfaces non-obvious combinations you'd never have considered on your own.
used multiple times, comes up with multiple options plus ideas to get from A to B that you would never consider. Example UK Manchester to Albania gave idea to fly to Crete and take short ferry to Sarande
It's amazing how R2R shows every conceivable way to get from Point A to Point B, including approximate costs and even timetables.

Indispensable for car-free, self-guided travel
For solo travellers and non-drivers it's a pocket travel agent: it gives them the confidence to use public transport in unfamiliar countries and plan a trip from their own doorstep to anywhere in the world.
Amazing app, great tool and lifesaver if you're traveling and not looking to rent a car. Highly recommend!!
This app is very handy for people like me who don't drive a car and travel using public transport here at home or whilst travelling interstate.
As a 62yr old first-time single traveler it was invaluable.
Prices, timetables and ticket-buying links right in the results
Beyond routes it shows approximate cost and journey time and links out to buy tickets — users note prices are often spot on, occasionally the best they've ever found.
it gives you every mode of transport, how long it takes and approximate costs. it also allows you to book tickets for buses etc. absolutely great app
the prices was the best I've ever had in my whole life, I thought they was playing so I make sure check in early and it was real

Beats Google Maps where Google Maps gives up
Users directly compare it to Google Maps and pick Rome2Rio for ferries, intercity buses and places Google doesn't cover; its public transport integration is called superior.

What users hate
The data lets you down: phantom routes, wrong timetables and non-optimal paths
The most dangerous complaint: the app confidently shows buses and routes that don't exist, timetables that don't match reality, and far-from-optimal paths — risky to rely on when planning.
Gave me lots of options for a bus trip. After going to buy tickets, none of them exist. NONE! Worse still, that bus route doesn't exist.
Giving bus routes that don't exist and timetables that aren't correct.
The bus times are different compared to the actual website.
The app is a stripped-down website with key features missing
Many love the website but stall on the app: missing route prices, missing ferries, no experiences or trips search, clunkier navigation — on the phone you lose almost everything the website is loved for.
app is missing key features that the website has including showing prices of various routes and doesn't include options to search experiences and trips. Interface was also harder to navigate via the app.
While it's a lot more stable than the website via mobile, it's lacking almost all the features the website has.
Computer you get choice of ferry and on phone app ferry does not even show up.
Input is broken: can't change endpoints, reverse them, or enter coordinates
After the first search the app gets stuck: you can't change origin/destination, there's no reverse button, you can't paste GPS coordinates, and the only cure is a reinstall.
once i search origin and destination, trying to change or research new ones becomes impossible. have to uninstall and reinstall.
No option to reverse the destination or from.
If I am unable to choose "from" and "to" by manually entering (pasting) GPS coodinates, this app is useless.
Constant crashes, freezes and "check your connection" with the internet working
The app freezes and crashes, goes unresponsive on some Android devices, and throws a routing error even with a working connection — long-loyal users are leaving precisely because the bugs go unfixed.
It constantly keeps crashing then it just closes. Very frustrating. It used to get me all over the world...

Great when it works but it keeps freezing only solution is to uninstall and reinstall
Abandoned by the devs: last update ages ago, bugs are known
Users point out there have been no updates since November, the devs know about the bugs but don't fix them — an app that was number one for years now looks outdated and abandoned.
They know about it, but have done ZERO updates since November. Was always the no1 go to for travel app for many years. Time to move on !
Last update November 24 sounds like lack of innovation it was so good sounds outdated

Can't book, can't save: no login, no sync, no multi-stop
You see the route but there's no buy button — it kicks you to a browser; you can't log in, save a route or sync with the computer, and you can't add multiple stops — which defeats the point of a planner.
I see routes and prices and alternative routes and prices but I see absolutely no link or button to actually book anything.

Can't sync itinerary with computer to app. No sign in so all info you input on computer doesn't carry over
Opens Google Maps instead of itself — so why use a Google Maps alternative?
For directions the app hands you off to Google Maps with no option to pick another navigation app; users fairly ask what the point of a "Google Maps alternative" is if it just launches Google Maps.
