The Galaxy-preinstalled notepad that wins on default habit and seamless phone-to-phone migration, but as a product it's stuck between «fast scratchpad» and «serious handwriting organizer» — and every update risks breaking the very simplicity people keep it for.

What users love

Seamless note migration to a new phone is the real loyalty lock

The strongest reason to stay: people accumulate notes for years and know that switching phones just pulls everything back via the Samsung account. It's not a feature, it's a reason not to leave the ecosystem — for some it's the deciding argument to keep buying Galaxy.

as long as I can carry my notes to my next phone it's cool

I love that when I get a new phone I can still access my old files by loggin to my account, absolutely beautiful

Perfect app for quick notes. I Love how all my notes transferred to my new android from iPhone.

«Open — jot — close»: people prize it for what it does NOT have

The retention core is speed and an empty interface. Users explicitly praise the absence of extra features and instant launch: the app wins as the shortest path from thought to note, not as a feature pile.

simple and functional, no useless features shoved in my face, I open the app, write notes and close the app, beautifully simple design

runs fast and easy to store notes and reminders

Great for copying, pasting, writing and jotting things down quickly for accessing later.

PDF export turns a note into a document — an underrated work job

A quiet professional job: people draft in a note, then hand it off as a PDF/.docx — to share, to print, to move into «real» office software. That makes the notepad the first stage of a work-document pipeline and anchors a business audience.

good for notes taking , coz it easy transforms to pdf

I also like that it is possible to convert the .txt file to a .docs file which is more compatible with more powerful computer software applications.

ek number aap hai sare daument aur parsnal details sab pdf mai share ho gaye

Shopping lists and quick checklists are the real daily habit engine

The most frequent live use isn't «notes», it's grocery and to-do lists with check-off. Quick-ticking an item right in the store turns the app into an everyday household tool people open daily — and that's what drives retention.

I do my grocery list, bdays, anything I need to remember. Absolutely awesome.

Great tool for shopping 🛍 and making lists to do or buy

quick to mark off items done or retrieved at the store

«On the device, not the cloud» — privacy as a deliberate reason to choose

Some users deliberately move sensitive data here because notes live on the phone rather than syncing through the cloud. On-device storage reads as protection — a segment that values the product not for features but for data not leaking across devices.

Took sensitive information off Google Notes as I read that Notes can be hacked going across other devices. Samsung Notes are on the device.

for what reason do they want to see my information for. B.S.

the best keeps my important details safe n good for opening files

Notes as an emotional release valve — an unexpected retention job

Some users open the app not for tasks but to write out feelings, poetry, to vent instead of confronting someone. This emotional job builds attachment stronger than any feature — the app becomes a «friend», not a utility, and they keep it for years.

the amount of times I have used this app to crash out on people without actually facing them is concerning. 10/10 stress reliever fr she's my bestie

I love Samsung notes because it help me fell happy whenever I'm sad

I love my notes. It allows me to write my poetry when the mood hits

Zero friction — no ads, no payments — reinforces trust in the default notepad

Users specifically call out the lack of ads and subscriptions as a reason to trust it and not seek alternatives. For a preinstalled app that's a strategic moat: while rivals monetize via paywalls, the clean free experience cements the habit and removes any reason to leave.

works perfectly with zero ads and zero subscriptions

Best Notes APP FREE and fully customizable

Thank you so much for this app and I really liked it, just don't put the purchase option on it.

What users hate

Updates break the exact simplicity people keep the app for

The most dangerous pattern: loyal fans, after updates, can't find their own notes and threaten to uninstall. Redesigns shuffle the familiar layout (folder name moved to the bottom, «blocky» notes), and the breakage hits not the periphery but the core job — where is my note.

I was loving it but the newest update oh my gosh I can't even find my notes how blocky notes are.. the newest update makes me want to uninstall notes.

The name of the folder is now on the bottom, rather than the top - worse than it was before.

Disappointed to see Live Notes go - it was incredibly useful and set this app apart. Please consider bringing it back.

Forced page-breaks fight against long-form writing

For long-form writers (scripts, poetry, stories), the imposed page structure tears the flow apart for no reason. The app is implicitly optimized for short lists, so it loses exactly the segment that uses it as a real text editor.

I miss the unbroken note option. The page structure breaks things unnaturally and unnecessarily. Why is it mandatory?

Helps me log my YouTube video scripts entirely in notes before exporting the rough draft

The infinite scroll doesn't always work. Sometimes, it does, and sometimes, it doesn't.

Copy-paste became a minefield after the update

A quiet but painful core breakage: pasted text drags a white background or changes font and size, and the «paste as plain text» option was removed. Since pasting is a fundamental gesture, it erodes trust among the very users who praise the app for copy-paste.

copy and paste is completely unusable. There is either a white background behind the text you paste that you cannot remove

Good idea, except they removed that function for whatever reason.

excellent!!! clipboard paste much longer than google notes can handle.

Stylus and handwriting — a promise the product half-keeps

Handwriting and drawing pull in tablet-and-stylus owners, but this is exactly where the product stumbles: drawing is called a problem, there's no infinite canvas, you can't set an image as a watermark. The segment willing to pay for serious handwriting gets a half-built tool.

Very good for making notes, but however the drawing is a problem, but still good

tables are not horizontal and vertical and i can't put image as watermark

Needs an addition to the ability to write or draw with an infinite canvas

No desktop view locks notes to the phone

Users want to edit and read their notes on a computer but can't. For those keeping work documents and drafts, that's a ceiling: the product is strong at on-the-go capture but stops exactly where the note needs to move to a big screen.

good but I wish there was a way to edit or view on computer.

I also like that it is possible to convert the .txt file to a .docs file which is more compatible with more powerful computer software applications.

Helps me log my YouTube video scripts entirely in notes before exporting the rough draft

Auto-purge of deleted notes after 11 days quietly undermines trust in storage

Users assume the note is reliable storage, but the bin permanently wipes deleted items after 11 days with no recovery. For an app whose whole value is «everything always at hand», irreversible loss strikes at the very foundation of trust.

because once you delete them, you can't get them back it disappears in 11 days.

very glitchy. app closes randomly and does not save.

Font and cover customization — an engagement lever the app ignores

A recurring ask: more fonts, colors, templates, custom note covers. It's not a whim — for writers and students, personalization turns a notepad into a personal space and lifts return frequency, while the dull default font «kills the mood».

You need more like fonts for your text and stuff like that.

sometimes the defualt font can feel quite dull. Could you add a "Change Font Type" selection

I wish you'd add more color customization! Overall, best notes app so far

Voice input and dictation are promised but underbuilt

Users look for dictation and a mic for voice notes, but the feature is either missing or admittedly half-baked. For the «hands busy, capture fast» job, it's a missed capture mode that could widen the audience beyond people who type.

can't find my mic icon for talk to text notes

the app still needs to develop it's dictation.

Note sharing is wanted but weak and unstable

The shared-list job (family, rentals, coworkers) exists, but sharing either corrupts shared notes or is limited to Samsung users only. That keeps the product in solo use and hands collaborative lists to competitors with real collaboration.

Recently it's been messing up my shared notes.

would be nice to able to share notes with another Samsung user phone or just other peeps in general.

notes I need to copy and share with people who stay at our vacation rental properties.
