Yoga
People come to yoga apps not for "content" but to practice at home on their own time, without a studio and without anyone watching. And almost every review shows where the market splits. The first and loudest split is pace. Generative and "pose after pose" apps (Down Dog, , 5 Minute Yoga, Nandy, , the whole wave of "Yoga Poses at Home" clones) rush so fast that a person has barely entered a pose before the voice announces the next one. People write it word for word: "yoga is supposed to relax you, not rush you", "by the time I get into the pose it is already time to leave it", they ask for longer pauses and a way to slow down. Add to this the problem of "I can't watch the phone and hold the pose at the same time" and a robotic old-Siri voice that irritates instead of soothing. The second split is an honest level for a beginner and respect for the body. "Even on the beginner setting this is not for beginners", a beginner plan drops in bow pose and dolphin pose, people get hurt with no warmup. The app asks about limitations and knees, then ignores them: Chair Yoga for the very people who came because of their knees suddenly demands standing and floor work, Down Dog stretches only the hips for two months and never hears the request about shoulders, Nandy shows a man a female figure. The job the app is hired for is to meet the real body where it is, not where the pretty model on screen is. The third and decisive split is attachment to a live teacher. Those who stay for years stay for a specific person, not a library: , Yoga+ by Mary, Find What Feels Good with Adriene, , with Jessamyn, with Saurabh, , DDPY with Dallas. They all get described the same way: a calm voice, the sense of being guided personally, permission to move at your own pace, "saved my life". Now to where the leaders break. The big players break exactly what worked: Down Dog, and keep redoing the interface and killing the beloved parts, wiping saved poses, speeding up old flows, raising the price with no warning, and people loyal for years walk away. Studio apps (, CorePower, , Modo, Yoga Box, Yoga Pod) hold the studio itself, but their app freezes, won't let you book, sends notifications after class has started and buries you in promo pushes. Libraries with strong teachers (Glo, , YogaDownload) get praised for their instructors and sunk by broken search, crashes, and the inability to properly save and organize classes. And the happiest niches are the narrow indies built around a single teacher and , where the main request is simple: show a real human, not a static picture or a cartoon avatar, and give a real voiceover.
Market overview
Down Dog sets the tone as the benchmark for flexible solo practice at home, but the real willingness to pay is created by the personality teachers whose audience follows them from YouTube into the app.

The niche has four types of players. The first are generative subscription engines: Down Dog and its family (Prenatal, Yoga for Beginners, ), Yoga-Go, , , a pile of "Yoga Poses at Home" clones. They win on flexible length and level tuning but sag on pace, on "beginner not for beginners", and on aggressive billing traps where after "free" they charge a full year. The second are premium-quality libraries with real instructors: Glo, , YogaDownload, CorePower On Demand, , . People love the content, but the app lags, crashes, loses progress and searches badly, and CorePower barely adds new sessions on top of that. The third are studio booking apps: , CorePower, , Modo, Yoga Box, Yoga Pod. Here the product is the studio and the teachers, while the app lives its own broken life, freezes at check-in, loses bookings, spams notifications. The fourth, and the healthiest, are the narrow indies around a single person: , Yoga+ by Mary, , , , Find What Feels Good, , plus one-off offline tools and . People love them for the live voice, the inclusivity and the feeling of a personal class, and their weak spot is always the same: the tech (glitches, crashes, TV casting, the inability to unsubscribe) and the price, which people compare to the same teacher's free YouTube. The winner is not the one with the most classes but the one who guides at a human pace, honestly meets the beginner and their body, and keeps the bond with a live teacher.

Followed the teacher from youtube11
They practiced for years to one instructor's free youtube videos, then install that instructor's app as a continuation. The app is sold by a beloved channel, not by store search.
I’ve been with SBY over 7 years, started on YouTube and now on the app. The experience is so wonderful. There are so many options for videos and calendars.
I’ve been following Boho Beautiful on YouTube for years and finally decided to download the app, why didn’t I do it earlier?! It’s the best and easy to use yoga app I’ve ever had.
Switched from another yoga app2
The person already practiced with another app or DVDs and deliberately moved here. They arrive not from scratch but by swapping one service for another.
Was using just down dog. Switched to core power on demand and love it. It’s making me enjoy yoga even more and it’s turning into a treat for myself!
I’ve been using DDPY since 2019. I started with the DVDs and migrated over to the app during COVID. The new app is so much cleaner and easier to find workouts.
Recommended by a doctor1
A treating specialist prescribed the app as part of therapy. It is installed on a direct recommendation from the office, not stumbled upon.
I was recommended this app by my Therapist/Psychiatrist to help manage my problems. However, I found myself using it Pilates to decompress, stretch and give thanks to the Universe.
Followed the teacher from instagram1
They follow the instructor on instagram and save her videos, so they install her app. Same path through the author's personality, just a different platform.
I love this app so far, I haven’t even tried any of the classes yet and I’m already pleased. I have been following Mary for a couple years now on Instagram and currently save her videos.
