Simple Habit Sleep, Meditation reviews
What users love and hate, from real reviews
A guided-meditation app with short on-the-go sessions and a broad library of teachers — people genuinely love it, yet the Android build is undermined by playback bugs and seemingly abandoned development.
What users love
A rich library of teachers and topics for 'any situation'
Its strongest side: a huge choice of experts and series for almost any situation — anxiety, sleep, pain, relationships, PTSD. Many praise specific guides (Cory Muscara, Matt Young, Julie) and the calming voices.
There are different meditation for different occasions. And that why i love this app alot. It helped me calm my anxiety, has best relaxation meditations, motivation to workout and study, help to relieve pain
They have soundscapes, bedtime stories, and other meditations or series for literally anything.
my kids have grown up going to bed with Cory Muscara's voice, he is a gem
The 'On the Go' section: pick a 5–20 minute length to match your mood
The short-session format where you pick length and topic is the most-loved feature. Five minutes a day leaves no excuse to talk yourself out of it, and it easily turns into a habit.
I love 'on the go' section as you can choose from 5 to 20 min of meditation according to time or mood.
Being 5 mins long, there's really no was to talk myself out of it. I've got time.
Its easy to keep your streak by meditating for 5 minutes a day. That makes a huge difference to my day and mornings! The On the Go feature is great.
The free content is good enough to fall in love before subscribing
Many note the app doesn't force a subscription up front: the free sessions are plentiful enough to try meditation and decide to pay deliberately. That sets it apart from competitors.
Other apps force you to subscribe immediately after downloading. Simple habit's free content allowed me to enjoy meditation first before I can really say and commit into subscription.
The free version is great and offers a lot of uplifting content.
I always come back to this app because of the wide variety of free meditations.
Genuine help with anxiety, stress and insomnia
The most common theme: the app genuinely helps — it calms panic attacks, eases people to sleep, supports them through hard times like stroke rehab. For many it's a daily tool used for years.
It's helped me through panic attacks, it's helped me through every day stress; it's helped me throughout the past year-ish. The voices are so calming.
It got me through stroke rehab, some of my worst moments
This app has helped me a lot in managing my overthinking, anxiety by use of mindfulness techniques.
What users hate
Sessions cut out mid-meditation — the Android version's core flaw
The guide's audio goes silent around the 15-minute mark while the background sounds keep playing; you have to kill the app and start over. You can't finish a single meditation.
Meditation ends in between can't use most of the meditations
Now the player stops after 15 minutes, even if the session is 60 minutes. Another session won't start and I have to kill the app and comeback
The meditations will stop early, usually about 15 minutes in. It's a shame as I used to use this app to help me sleep.
Download button is dead: it asks for permissions that don't exist
You can't download meditations for offline use: the app demands you enable permissions in Android settings, but no such setting exists. Even paying users hit this for months with no response from support.
If I want to download something for offline listening, I am asked to set permissions in Android settings but can't see any storage permissions to set.
The download button isn't functional. Asking for permissions which are non existent. I've reported the issue so many times. No response from dev.
it is no longer possible to download meditations for offline use: it says to change the app permissions, but there is no discernible way to do so
Free meditations keep shrinking — they're being cut over time
Long-time users notice the free tier was trimmed: even sessions not marked premium lock after 1–2 plays, and series became half-paywalled. Without a subscription many good topics are now out of reach.
they have very less range of free mediations now... and even the meditation not shown as premium have all sessions locked after 1-2 free sessions.... not happy u just have to get a paid membership for utility
the only thing that makes dissatisfied is that most of the series are half free and half paid
too bad the free sessions seem to be getting more limited
Support stays silent, and you can't unsubscribe
Emails to support go unanswered for weeks, and cancelling becomes a nightmare: the app isn't listed in Google Play, the help desk won't unsubscribe you, and money keeps being charged via Google Play or PayPal.
I can't unsubscribe from this service. I can't log into the app. The help desk will not unsubcribe me. They say that I need to unsubscribe thru Google play but there is no listing there. This is turning into a nightmare.
No customer service whatsoever. Already sent two emails with no reply, no assistance, no problem solving.
It has been 20 days since I notified Simple that I wanted to cancel. They have not contacted me other than to say they are busy and will get back to me. I am being charged through PayPal.
Streaks and meditation history reset on their own
The app loses progress by itself: the day counter drops from 25 to 2 for no reason, minutes and sessions show 0, and an update wiped people's saved meditations and entire streak. For a habit tracker that's fatal.
the Current Daily Streak can change from 25 down to 2 on its own without cause or warning
the app glitches and loses track of my meditation history and streaks
Why in my app current day streaks and total minutes always showing 0 even after successfully completed 3 session
Audio stops the moment the screen turns off
After an update the app stopped playing with the screen off — critical for bedtime meditations when you don't want a bright screen at night. Pressing the side button pauses the session.
since the update it stops playing once you turn the screen off. Checked all the settings and still doesn't work.
The audio stops when the screen turns off.
after the recent upgrade, I can no longer lock my phone while the app continues to play
Content loads forever even when the connection is fine
Meditations fail to load on the home screen and hang on open: people with fast internet whose YouTube and video calls work fine still can't get through a simple audio track. The app often has to be restarted.
meditations regularly do not load on the home page even if youve paid for the subscription and requires restarting the app
It kept pausing to load for forever, while the background noises were playing just fine. My internet connection is fine
it loads a LOT. Not that my internet sucks, it's pretty fast for YouTube while it loads forever when I open this app.
Sign-in only via Facebook or Google — no guest access
You can't use the app without a Facebook or Google account — there's no guest mode. On top of that sign-in itself breaks: Google login fails with an error, the password-reset email never arrives, and manual login won't recognize your email or password.
I hate that you have to sign in with a Facebook (don't have) or Google account. Why can't you just be a guest user instead of giving out personal info
When I go to login with Google. it says that my login has failed. When I try to sign in manually, it refuses to recognize either my email address or my password. When I go the forgot to password route, the link never arrives in my inbox.
Sign in and login in is failing since last 3 months
Android abandoned: half the content is iOS-only
The Move/Yoga section and part of the library simply aren't available on Android — support confirms it's iOS-only. The team flatly says it has no plans to update Android and tells you to use the web instead.
I reached out to support who confirmed with their engineers that I could only access the rest of the content in the iOS version of the app. I'm so disappointed!!
contacted the team via Facebook to be told sadly they were not planning on doing any updates for android and to use the web instead
Web still works well but the app now sucks.
