Smoke Free - Quit Smoking Now reviews
What users love and hate, from real reviews
A quit-smoking tracker that motivates with a time counter, money saved, health recovery and live human advisor support — but locks half its features behind a subscription and greets newcomers with a heavy registration wall.
What users love
The time, money and health counter is the core motivator
People open the app daily to watch their smoke-free days, the money they've saved and how their body is recovering — these numbers are exactly what keeps them going.
Love watching how much money I'm saving and count of my quit days. Very motivating!
Seeing all the stats and the progression of how healthy I'm getting is really amazing
The counter that pinpoints my time smoke-free down to an actual second is thrilling and humbling at the same time
Live advisors and community are the real lifeline
Real people reply within minutes around the clock, and the forum and Facebook group make users feel they're not alone — for many it's this support, not the app, that made the difference.
real people to advise who get back to you in around 3 minutes
The app is very good but the support from the real people behind the app is superb. Always available and with a positive focus and support.
Great app, with motivation, support and community
Badges, rewards and milestones give a sense of achievement
Monthly certificates, ranks, a pet dragon and badges turn each smoke-free day into a small win users don't want to reset with a relapse.
I like the layout and all the badges and certificates.
the pet dragon that we get to take care of us brilliant
when you hit a month they give you a certificate and you can share it to people
Free NRT (patches, spray, lozenges) genuinely cut cravings
Many note the app sends free nicotine-replacement aids, and it's these that got them through the worst cravings in the early days.
5 days in and using the free NRT has helped massively. I've noticed my cravings have gone down a great deal
received my patches & spray 😀 hit the 1-month mark smoke free 💪
brilliant 24/7 support talking real people and free nrt diary and tracking health improvement
The free version is enough as a tracker for many
Even without a subscription people use the app for years simply as a precise quit stopwatch: the counter, diary and health view all work in the free mode.
I've been smoke free for a month now and I've been using this app without paying for it and it tells me how long I've been without cigarettes.
Great app to keep track record with free version
I just have the free portion of the app but it's nice because it has several features that are inspiring. The daily journal is helpful.
What users hate
Registration demands far too much personal data
Just to start, the app demands full name, email, post code and phone number with no way to skip — people abandon onboarding before they even reach the first screen.
Why that kinda app would need your full name, email, post code, and few another personal details. And you cant even skip that step.
why do you need so much information about me. full name post code phone number. Excessive.
gave up after 10 mins of registration... can i just try the app without giving all my personal data??
Email verification loops and blocks entry
The link in the email doesn't activate the account and the page that opens just tells you to follow the email again — people reinstall dozens of times and still can't get in.
click on the email to verify and it just sends me in a loop telling me to open the email over and over
Clicked on the verify link in the e-mail i received on my mobile phone and it did not activate. Webpage that opened only told me to follow the instructions on the e-mail.
I can't even get passed the email is not sent. I have been uninstalling and re installing millions of times and nothing...uff
Half the features are locked behind a subscription
The free version is basically just the counter: advisors, missions and advanced features require a subscription, and it's sprung on users as a surprise with constant upgrade prompts.
Free of charge capability of this app is only a Time smoke free counter, that's it. The rest of things, including some stop smoking advisors, etc, are available only by subscription.
Nothing but ads asking you to upgrade to the paid version.
The "missions" stop on your quit date unless you pay for the pro version. I didn't anticipate this and felt like my support buddy ditched me on the day I needed it most.
The app itself triggers stress and the urge to smoke
Paradoxically, the painful onboarding and nagging notification dots drive people to want a cigarette — even after they'd already gone weeks without one.
App is useless it will stress you out enough to want to smoke 😂
Within 3 mins of dealing with this app, I wanted a cigarette & I already haven't smoked for 4 weeks. A quit smoking app shouldn't cause stress
it will continuously show you notification dots intentionally trying to get you to keep re-opening for no reason...
Paid access gets lost and support goes silent
Purchased Pro and Lifetime suddenly switch off, the premium link sends you back to the sales page, and support emails go unanswered — even for years-long paying users.
I paid for "pro user" status, but I can't even get a return email that isn't an automated reply.
Seems to have forgotten that I bought the lifetime package already and the link in app just takes me to the sales page.
I bought the full version of this app and today my features have been disabled. I can no longer speak to an advisor
Updates and a move to a new app wipe out progress
After some updates the app stops opening, and the move to a new version locks people out of the old one — they lose their quit date and the entire track they'd built up.
Since some update it does not open anymore, therefore I lost track of my progress. Wouldn't start using this app again.
Such a shame they are moving to a new app and blocking me out from the old one.
I can't download the new app for not being available in my country. Lost all my progress and track of the date I quit smoking
Promoting vaping as a substitute breeds distrust
Some users are appalled that the app offers a free vape and advises switching from smoking to vaping — for those quitting nicotine itself it looks like swapping one addiction for another.
Was also offered free VAPE(!) to help quit smoking. Replace nicotine with nicotine? Are you serious?
their number one tip was to just switch from smoking to vaping
this app will remove you from telling anybody that bc they actually promote vaping.....something that can kill you!
