Target reviews
What users love and hate, from real reviews
The app for the big-box retailer Target for online ordering, pickup and delivery — shoppers adore drive-up and the Circle discount, but keep tripping over broken search, sign-in bugs and unreliable stock data.
What users love
Drive-up and pickup are the number-one reason people love the app
The same theme repeats over and over: orders are ready in a couple of hours, you can tap «I'm on my way», and staff bring purchases to the car fast and cheerfully. For busy parents and people caring for elderly relatives it's a lifesaver.
Target has made the convenience of drive up an industry standard that I absolutely 100 % appreciate.
love ordering for drive up. fast and free
I love ro drive up, pick up my items, when I'm visiting my elderly mother, which makes it really hard to go in the store with her.
The Circle/Red Card 5% discount is a beloved perk — when it works
The automatic 5% off with the Circle/Red Card plus Circle coupons are what users name as the main reason to save at Target, especially on bigger purchases. The loyalty program is a favorite for many.
love target. especially the target red card 5% savings every time I use the card.
User friendly app. 5% automatic discount is a nice bonus, especially on larger purchases .
Super convenient money saving app with Target Circle
Easy online ordering: no minimum, a 2-hour window, cart always visible
Ordering from home is easy and pleasant: people call the interface friendly, love the no-minimum-order rule, the two-hour ready window, and that the cart stays visible — handy for the forgetful.
I love using the Target app and I love the no minimum threshold for pick up orders!!
This app so far is the best one for grocery shopping. It's very user friendly and doesn't hide your cart from you, which is a blessing as someone who is forgetful and needs to double check her lists.
live the no minimum online order and pickup!! the 2 hour windows is awesome too!
What users hate
Search returns junk and doesn't show real in-store stock
Users call search useless: it pulls up tons of unrelated items, doesn't show what's actually in stock, and fails to surface pre-orders. By the time you grab a direct link from another website, the item is sold out.
the search feature is absolutely useless. doesn't show in stock items like Walmart does, and doesn't even show store inventory when searching for a brand or item.
what is with their search engine? it calls up way too many unrelated items. maddening.
Cannot use the search function to search for an item. Spins and doesn't retrieve search contents.
Constantly logs you out and forces password/PIN resets
Sign-in is a sore spot: the app spins, logs you out every couple of minutes and demands you re-login just to check a price. Many are infuriated at having to reset their card password or PIN every single time.
Doesn't ever work, logs me out every 2 minutes then always wants me to login again even when I just want to check a price on something. Useless app.
horrible app. never works. always need to reset my pasword EVERY TIME I try to sign in
Every time I use the app I have to reset my card pin.
Third-party sellers and scalpers are turning the catalog into Temu/Amazon
The arrival of third-party sellers is seen as a hit to the brand: cheap drop-shipping and resellers flipping the same goods at inflated prices. A distinct sore point is bots buying up Pokémon cards on drops while real people get nothing.
I go to the Target App to shop from Target and not low quality unvetted trash.
Target allows 3rd party retailers to sell or re-sell merchandise on their app at outrageous inflated prices.
Once again another pokemon drop fed straight to the bots. Happy for the people that actually were able to score but Target needs to do something to deter these bots.
Inaccurate stock: «in stock» turns out to be out, substitutions needed
Stock data lets people down: items flagged as available turn out to be gone, pickups fall through, and substitutions have to be accepted blind. For some nothing shows as available for curbside at all; for others the app won't let them pick a different version of the same item.
apparently the targets near me has nothing in stock. regardless of what item I search or what store I search in nothing is popping up in stock for curbside pick up
Similar item out of stock but didn't give me the chance to select a different version of the same thing
Unfortunately, sometimes the inventory is incorrect and substitutions need to be made. I would say the orders are about 98% correct at pickup time.
Delivery windows and prices don't match what was promised
Paid delivery windows get pushed back without explanation, the 360 membership's «free delivery» is eaten by a «regional fee» buried in fine print, and the cart price suddenly comes out higher than on the listing. Trust in the promises erodes.
Delivery window time is a complete lie. They continuously postpone the delivery time that I paid $10 for.
I signed up for the 360 program and it stated I could get free delivery, but then there's a "regional fee" that information must have been buried in the small print.
in ordering today I noticed discrepancies in the price of items and the price of the item in my cart.
Support is trapped in an AI chat and phone tree with no path to a human
The «report issue with order» feature errors out, the chat is now fully AI with no way to escalate to a human, and calling leads into an automated menu and hold. Reporting the error just ends the conversation — a closed loop.
The chat option is now fully AI (no way to escalate to a human) and if you try to report an issue with an order it just tells you how to access the functionality that errors out.
The "report issue with order" functionality errors out every time and says contact support.
recently the chat option had not been working especially for delivery, pick up concerns.
App glitches: crashes, emptied cart, vanishing coupons
The app randomly jumps back to the home screen, freezes when saving items for later, and mid-checkout the cart empties itself and drops Circle coupons and discounts that then won't reapply.
The cart emptied in the middle of the order; cleared my coupons and wouldn't reapply after adding items back to the order. Circle discounts also disappeared!
The app seems less reliable than it used to be, sometimes randomly goes back to the main screen, and editing the text box to refine the search is hit or miss.
The app freezes on me constantly when I try to save items for later in my cart which sucks but everything else is super super simple and fast!
Pushy recommendations, ads and spam notifications annoy users
Search and the feed push things you never asked for — flavored toothpaste instead of unflavored, ads in results like Amazon. The app forces you to rate and tip the driver with no opt-out, and marketing notifications pour in as spam.
If you don't have wool socks, then say that, don't try to shove products in my face that I didn't search for because I don't want them. So pushy!
The app forces you to tip & rate delivery drivers before you can shop again. No Opt out.
If I wanted irrelevant ads in my search results I'd use Amazon.
Chaos around the Circle/Red/Debit card: lockouts, hidden limits, lost discount
The Circle card is its own pain source: the app locks you out of the card right at checkout, the promised 5% suddenly becomes unavailable for no reason, the debit-card limit is opaque, and paying your bill in-app simply doesn't work (a blank black page).
I just left $100 worth of goods at the store in my shopping cart because the app locked me out from my card.
My card doesn't work for no reason and the app and account changes and additions are confusing as hell. I can't access my usual 5% off and have no clue why.
still can't pay my bill thru the app the page is blank black when I go to manage my red card. garbage
