Tinder reviews
What users love and hate, from real reviews
The biggest swipe-based dating app, where basic features increasingly hide behind a paywall, and users swing between "plenty of likes, zero matches" and the suspicion that half the profiles are bots.
What users love
When it works, it really connects: people find friends, relationships, even spouses
A share of users do meet real, interesting people, make friends and find serious partners — up to marriage and a kid years later; for them the app is simple and pleasant to use.
met so many new friends, and new connections if you use it for what you intend for you'll find the right group
We have been married for almost 10 years now with a kid. We are so well matched we dont even fight. Never let anyone say Tinder is just for cheap hookups. You can meet your soulmate here.
even without premium shizz found my perfect girl didn't even expect that to happen
What users hate
Paywall on basic features: without a subscription the app is nearly useless
To see who liked you, message first, or set filters you have to pay — users call it extortion and treat the free version as a shell where only the like counter goes up.
if you're a man you have to pay to get matches, simple as. I have 20 likes but after days of swiping right on everyone I don't get a single match. it's basically extortion.
Core features are locked by paywall. The app is useless without paying
if you dont pay then you dont get matches. you just watch the number of people that like you go up.
Likes but no matches: the feeling that likes are fake bait to push you into a subscription
People swipe for months and get no real matches, suspecting Tinder itself sends fake likes to make them pay to see who liked them.
only thing worse than the fake profiles are the fake "likes" issued by tinder to bait you into the paying their over the top prices
no matches whatsoever, it's a bummer
I have 20 likes but after days of swiping right on everyone I don't get a single match
Bans with no explanation and no real appeal
Accounts get banned suddenly and for no stated reason — often right after a paid subscription or after reporting someone else, with appeals going nowhere and no refund.
banned for 0 reason literally. never was rude, shared any external social media apps or sent nudes, yet tinder decided to ban for no reason without an option to appeal.
shortly after I reported a user for harassment my account was banned.
I made a gold subscription payment and in few weeks I got banned. too sad
Selfie verification is broken and loops: approved, then demanded again
Face verification rejects clear photos dozens of times, and even after "approved" the profile is locked again or hidden — there's no way out of the loop.
did the face recognition 15 times - can't even unlock my account.
I have done the face proof. 27 times and it keeps telling me. no lights not glare. I turned the lights off. shut the TV off. yet it still says the same thing
should be negative stars tbh, the facial verification is straight up broken and it's made me do it several times even after getting approved
Fake profiles, bots, and "content" sellers instead of real people
The feed is full of bots, inactive and fake profiles, and matches often fire off a scripted "check me out on [adult site]" — yet Tinder doesn't remove the obvious scammers.
all matches get a scripted "check me out on [adult website]" message. 0/10 would recommend
they won't take the time to remove obvious scammers or women selling "content" they also actively hide people that swipe right on you
too many spammers and fake profiles .. you staff pretending to be people need a better varied script.. it is so obvious
Upsell on top of the subscription: buy Gold, then they beg for Platinum, boosts and super likes
Even after paying for a subscription the app endlessly nudges you to pay more for Platinum, boosts and super likes, implying nobody will see your profile otherwise.
Bought Gold and experienced constant begging to buy platinum, boosts (that are pretty useless), super likes.
as soon as I got Gold, they started letting me know that if I JUST would get Platinum... or I spent another $50 to get boosts and super likes...
you pay for plus, so they make you keep paying for other features while they intentionally shadow ban you
Location and filters ignored: it shows people thousands of miles away
The app surfaces profiles hundreds and thousands of kilometers away despite the settings, and ignores filters for age, kids and relationship type.
Absolutely useless app, when u don't take subscription they send you nearby profiles & after subscription they send you matches which are more than 1000 kms away even when we change the settings to show nearby profiles
Ignores literally every single preference and filter. From distance to children to relationship type, etc. 90% of feed is people outside of my filters.
It matches with people 300 miles away but says they are within 100.
After an update profile photos won't load — endless "loading" and black screens
A recent update broke photo loading: swipes show black screens and endless loading even on a working connection, making it impossible to swipe.
profile photos are unable to load in swipe after the latest update. All the photos in others profiles show black screens and they keep loading forever.
After updating it can't see anyone. Photos are just continuously "loading."
photos of people aren't loading. internet connection is fine, have made sure app is updated, restarted phone.
Support is bots and silence: emails go unanswered for weeks
Support requests either get no reply for many days or get answered by canned bots — even when the problem is a paid subscription.
Reached out 3 times with some issues and gotten 0 response.
I’ve had no response to my emails for almost 10 days because of a problem with my paid subscription. Completely unacceptable.
If you contact support, you'll only speak with bots.
Charged without consent, and unsubscribing or getting a refund is hard
Money is taken early or without permission, cancelling is made hard, and refunds for services never delivered simply don't come.
terrible charged me 60$ without consent or permission and this is the worst app ever
want unsubsribe and theybhave made it hard
Took my money and didnt give me what I paid for. Countless emails and nothing. Stay clear!
Prices bite: tens of dollars a month, and everything is split into separate charges
Platinum and Gold run $30-60 a month, weekly passes cost even more pro-rated, and every little thing like "who liked you" is billed separately.
too over priced, platinum should be at most $30-35 *per month* if not $25 at minimum.
Literal garbage. You can't set any preferences or details without paying $40/mo. 9/10 things in this app now? $40/mo.
would rate higher but everything is way overpriced, should be half, even a third of what some of the prices are. Over $30 for one week of platinum or whatever
The "carrot on a stick" algorithm: the app is engineered to frustrate you into paying
Users describe the app as a deliberately built trap: an algorithm tuned to maximize spending, engineered hopelessness, and a swipe simulator with no real connections.
It's trying it's best to make you hopeless to make you pay.
Carrot on a stick model made for the bottom 90% of men to feel like they need to pay for connection.
The platform appears to use an algorithm that prioritises maximising customer spending. Not worth it.
