What users love
When it works — it's the best way to keep a whole trip in one place
People genuinely love the core for years — 10 to 15 of them: forward confirmations to an address and the app builds a clean timeline of flights, hotels, cars and activities by itself. Everything in one place, available offline, no ads — many call it indispensable and "more important than my passport".
I love that I don't have to look around for several different emails to find all the confirmations for hotel, rental car, and flights. All of them are in one place for the whole trip.

Pro pays for itself in real money — but the ~$50-99/yr price scares people off
The best Pro reviews are concrete: it tracks price drops and refunds the difference, wins compensation for delays, updates info at the airport faster than the boards and airline apps, and shows the baggage carousel. For frequent flyers it pays for itself many times over.
It has paid for itself several times over by notifying me when prices drop on one of my travel plans and I've been able to get a travel credit or refund for the difference.
Tripit keeps me up to date on my trips and has successfully negotiated compensation for me in the case of excessive flight delays!

What users hate
Login breaks exactly when you need the app most — mid-trip
The single most common complaint: after an update, login stops working — "An unexpected error occurred", endless auto sign-outs, a dead Sign in button. Reinstalling doesn't help, the website sometimes works while the app doesn't. Users lose access to years of trip history right when traveling, standing at immigration.

The app silently signs you out in the middle of a trip
A distinct bug from the broken login: the app signs you out by itself every few days or right in the middle of a trip, sometimes crashing too. What infuriates many is that data isn't cached locally — with no connection and no login the itinerary is simply gone, even though that's its one job.

Why the app isn't designed to locally cache your info to always be available is beyond me. if you can't depend on it, what is the point?
The headline feature — auto-building trips from email — stopped working
Email parsing of confirmations — the whole reason people install it — now regularly fails even for major vendors (AirBNB, Cathay Pacific, Accor, Expedia). Travel-agent PDFs aren't read, many emails land in Unfiled, and everything has to be entered by hand. At that point the app loses its purpose: a spreadsheet is easier.
The srvc is supposed to autoparse trip plans sent by email. That often FAILS; even from 'wellknown' vendors (e.g., AirBNB). Manual (re)entry is required.
I forwarded 8 emails with various transport, accommodation, and events and Tripit didn't recognise a single one of them!

Doesn't update flight statuses — which is the whole point of paying
Pro subscribers pay mainly for delay, gate-change and reschedule alerts — and that's exactly what fails. The app shows a flight "on-time" while you sit delayed on the tarmac, misses reschedules, and won't show gates. For a paid travel service this is fatal.
Sitting here after 5 emails regarding weather delays from my airline over the last 2+ hrs, not a single update from TripIt, and app still shows flight as "on-time".
I'm currently delayed on the tarmac for a United flight that's more than an hour late departing SFO, but Tripit thinks the plane is in the air.
On the day of our flight, I didn't get a single notification about flight status or gate assignments. What is the point then?
Sign-up dies on the password — users never reach the app
A barrier at the very door: creating an account demands a draconian password (15+ chars) and rejects even strong generated ones, or absurdly says "email/password doesn't match our records" — on the new-account screen. People burn minutes and leave for competitors without ever trying the product.

I select CREATE AN ACCOUNT, and when I add my information, it says my info doesn't match their records. ITS A NEW ACCOUNT !!!
Couldn't get past the create a password. Everything I tried returned a use a stronger password message.
Demands personal data and reads your whole inbox — privacy backlash
The app suddenly demands date of birth, full name and address to continue, and for parsing wants access to your entire inbox, even firing notifications on non-travel emails. Many call it "intrusive" and "malware", threaten a regulator complaint and delete their account — clearly excessive for a map organizer.
This is the most intrusive app I have ever used. Be advised that it will read every single email you send and receive.
started using it and two weeks later they are forcing me to add dob, full name and address to keep using the app. Why does an app that organizes map locations need to verify my identity?
It used to be an excellent app, but is now mostly invasive malware. I can not use the app without being harassed to let it have access to my email.
Region-locks you out — even at home in your own country
A bizarre geo-blocking mechanism: users in the US, Canada, Asia are denied "from a region where the service isn't available" — with no VPN, sitting at home. For an app whose whole point is traveling the world, refusing to work abroad nullifies its value.
Can't log in anymore because apparently the app does not allow users from the United States to use this app despite the app developer being in the US.
it said I'm in a region that the service is unavailable. I paid for pro. what's the point in a travel app that doesn't work when you travel.
Access denied for several months... Why? Your website/app don't work in Asia
Duplicates and conflicts: an updated import spawns copies you can't delete
When importing an updated itinerary the app can't tell it's an update and just adds a duplicate; conflicts can't be merged, can't pick the latest, can't even be deleted — you have to wipe the whole trip. Plan management is crippled overall: you can add items but can't delete or reorder individual ones.
When importing updated itineraries it's unable to see that it is an update, so just adds the update.
Syncing doesn't work a lot of the time. I had to delete an entire trip because changes to the original flight couldn't be updated or even deleted without deleting everything.
I should be able to delete any part of the itinerary. Currently I can only add parts to the itinerary.
Trip sharing is broken exactly where it matters most — couples and families
Shared travel is a core use case but it fails: an invitee can't add themselves as a traveler, sharing is email-only (still no link in 2026), invites don't get sent, and a spouse can't see the shared trip in the app — only in a browser. So everything ends up entered by hand again.
when someone else books for you and sends you the itinerary you cant change your own status to one of the travellers.
how is there still NO option to share your trip itinerary from the app with a link? Only option is to email people, which is so archaic.
my wife created a trip but I can't link it to my account in the app. yes, she has shared it with me, etc... This makes the app useless.
Android is a cut-down iOS: no search, broken Notes field, calendar bugs
Android is clearly poorer than iOS: no search, the Notes field is one unreadable line, Google Calendar sync either fails or sets the wrong time zone, the widget drops out, and times show with no AM/PM. For the same price users get a visibly second-class product.
No search function (iOS has it). Flighty level details would be nice.
the app only shows one looong line as I type. So basically I am unable to read my notes while typing. Major flaw.
Trips take almost a whole day to appear in my Google calendar. Far too long.
