Visit A City reviews

What users love and hate, from real reviews

A city-trip planner that auto-builds a day-by-day route by attraction proximity — a brilliant idea split between fans of its auto-plans and users who hit paywalled tours and the inability to add their own places.

What users love

Proximity-based auto-routing is the headline reason people love it

Enter your dates and where you're staying and it lays out attractions across days, sorts them by proximity and calculates travel time between stops. For short city breaks it saves hours of planning.

really clever. pop in your dates and the address where you're staying and it plots out your days. you can skip what you're not interested in. pick and choose what you'd like to do. makes city breaks easy 👌

A really useful website for trip planning. It gives tourist attraction sites in proximity order, but you can rearrange the itinerary as you need. Includes walking times between attractions. Highly recommend.

The #1 feature is its ability to automatically arrange stops by proximity to limit the extra walking back and forth.

Ready-made plans for short visits take the stress out of planning

For the time-pressed, the built-in 1-2-3-day plans hand you a ready list of top sights in the right order. It's easy to pick your pace and just follow the route.

Amazing app that I use every time when I'm traveling. Especially if I don't have enough time to plan the trip, I can just follow one of the built-in plans or add something specific if I want.

It's easy to schedule your vacation to see the top attractions without wasting time. and money

trip planning by day and desired level of activity. 1, 2 or 3 days plans.

A city guide in your pocket: returning users carry it around the world for years

The most loyal use it for years across dozens of cities as a personal guide: descriptions, prices, time-to-sights, offline mode and the confidence to explore further. For them it's an indispensable travel companion.

I love this App. I used it in Italy and the suggested walking navigation and itinery, gave me the confidence to explore further than I would have.

I've used in 10+ cities and it's great for planning day-to-day activities and staying organized, and also finding things to do on the fly.

My go to app for travelling, it saves all the work of planning what to visit, in which order and ticket prices. I love it and I have recommended it to all my friends.

Weak spots

What users hate

Turned into a storefront for paid tours instead of a build-your-own planner

Many come to assemble their own route of sights and instead get a feed of paid tours, excursions and partner offers. Adding your own places often isn't possible — precisely because the app makes no money on them.

It's just a collection of adds for touristic trips, restaurants and bars. Useless.

Before you can customize your travel plans and itinerary using this app. Now it just shows paid package tours and there are no options for customization.

everything in this app was geared toward booking tours. I understand that they need to make money and, if you are looking to book a bunch of tours I'm sure this is great, but this is not what I was looking for. Huge disappointment.

Can't add your own: hotels by name and non-commercial places simply won't go in

A signature pain is the 'add your hotel' feature: searching by name or address returns 'no matches found', and you can't drop in your own address or a sight that isn't on their list. The plan stops being yours.

the biggest irritation for me is the 'add your hotel' feature: not once have I been able to add where I'm staying to a plan, either by using the hotel name or the actual address. No matter what I try, it always says "no matches found".

Tried to enter my hotel and it can't find it but no option to manually add.

Wish there was a way to add your own place you want to visit. I.e. a theatre or specific address.

Pushy location prompt that won't go away after you decline

To browse a distant city the app demands GPS, and if you refuse the prompt keeps popping up over and over — sometimes the app just hangs. The logic infuriates anyone planning a trip from home.

Forces you to switch on GPS location in order to use the app, fafork sake, what if you just want to check a distant city? uninstalled, very weak irrational logic!

this app is so bad, no privacy, keep asking you to open location, so annoying

Permission hogger. If I say no to the location permission, it means no. Spamming it, will not change my mind.

Stale and wrong data: hours, addresses and shut-down attractions

It lists attractions as open when they've long since closed or burned down, gets opening hours and addresses wrong. On the ground this wrecks plans, and there's no way to report the error.

Visit a city still lists attractions as open that were burned down in the fire, such as the sacred Banyon tree, that are no longer open to the public.

the first thing on all the itineraries is the Viking Ship Museum. Seriously, it's closed UNTIL 2026.

I've noticed that a lot of information is inaccurate or out of date, including hours of operation and actual locations/addresses. I wish there were an easy way to submit updated info to the app developer.

The itinerary editor is clumsy: everything dumps into day one, times won't budge

Try to customise and it falls apart: additions default to day one even with day three selected; times and order change themselves and can't be reverted; you can't drag stops around or slot in a lunch break.

Every addition defaults to the first day even of you have day 3 selected. Every added hotel, defaults to day 1 even of you aren't changing hotels until day 4. A frustrating waste of time.

Changes times & days in my plan. Unable to move them back. Can't add ANYTHING that's not on their list. Forced to have events one after another, as if I'm not allowed a break.

Only wish you could drag and drop destinations to resequence them.

Crashes, won't open and fails offline — especially after updates

It crashes, hangs on a white screen or won't launch at all without a connection — and that hits right in the middle of a trip, with plans already built. Offline maps fail to finish downloading and network errors pile up.

This app crushed over my trip to Madrid saying there is a network issue. I made all.my plans using this app and it ruined. I decided to uninstal it. Very disappointing as not even the offline part worked

It is no longer working properly. It does not start without a connection so became pretty much useless to me if you cannot use it offline.

Love the website. But the App is not working. Android 12. Just white screen when I open it.

Thin city coverage: too few destinations, nothing offbeat or smaller

Many open their target city only to see 'coming soon' or nothing at all; it mostly covers big tourist capitals, while smaller or offbeat places are missing or shown only as a list of tours.

There was no plan on the city I wanted Just say "coming soon" False ad It's just a bunch of tour agency listed

Useless for people who want something interesting and non-Western. Major capitals with more than 10 million such as Tehran for example were missing, while a small town near me with 40'000 people was included in the app.

Pointless if you cannot go off the beaten track. It only gives tour operator options and only covers main cities.

Travel times and transport mode are wrong, no public-transit choice

The app decides for you whether to walk or drive, won't let you pick public transit, and travel times are often absurd — up to '19622 min' where it's a couple-minute walk. That blows the day's schedule apart.

The app selects whether to walk or drive and doesn't give any public transit options. It is showing a 15 minute drive between two areas that are right beside each other and there is no way to change it. This makes the itinerary pretty useless.

"19622 min by transit" where it supposed to be only few minutes walk. Please get this bug fix!

it won't let me change the mode of transportation in the app which throws the time off. Even when the browser version has the right transportation, the app changes it.

Paywall and billing: 'free' but everything's locked, plus charges after cancelling

It's advertised as 'free' but everything's locked without a subscription; some paid and still can't use it, others cancelled their account and were charged anyway — while support ignores the emails.

Scam. They say it's free and even before use it everything is blocked unless you subscribe a plan.

I sent email to cancel and deactivate my account but was still charged. I will never use this app again and I will never ever recommend it to any of my friends and family.

So far terrible. I paid the subscription fee,but cannot use the app. I am sending emails asking for help, no respond... I am disappointed...
