Wanderlog Travel Planner reviews
What users love and hate, from real reviews
A trip planner that keeps everything in one place — flights, hotels, map pins, budget, and collaboration with travel companions; the catch is that an exhausting onboarding, aggressive paywalls, and lag stand between install and that payoff.
What users love
The whole trip in one place — and it genuinely delivers
Those who push past onboarding fall in love: flights, hotels, reservations, places, and notes assemble into one day-by-day plan. It replaces the whole Google Docs + Excel + maps + email-folder stack.
Excellent tool! it's the solution for what I used to use - Google docs, AI, Excel, and Google maps. Thank you so much!
I store all info there and now it is easy to find!
It keeps all your trip info in one place. (flights, hotels, transportation etc..)
The map-with-pins turns chaos into a day's route
A favorite for many — seeing the day's places on a map in relation to each other, optimizing the route, and getting travel time between stops. Especially valued in an unfamiliar country.
My favorite feature is adding in all the things I want to see one day then optimizing the route so I can get the most out of my day.
love that this app gives a map overview of your itinerary for the day, plus giving the travel time per transport option.
the map with pins helps me visualize all the places i have been to.
Shared planning lifts the load off the lone «planner»
Planning together with family and friends in real time is a frequent reason for the love. Responsibility is shared, updates show instantly, companions add their own places and notes.
The best feature is being allowed to share and plan with your other travelers.
It has spread the responsibility for everything and made me less stressed out by being the sole planner.
Ive been able to share trip details with my partner & he can add his own notes & places to see as well, and its all updated immediately.
Budget tracking and splitting costs between companions
The budget tracker and the «who owes whom» split are a separately praised plus for group trips. Everyone logs expenses and the app computes the balance.
We were all able to input our expenditures, and it calculates if anyone owes you or what you owe them.
budget tracker is a huge plus!
even expense splitting for groups!
What users hate
An exhausting onboarding: dozens of questions before the first screen
Before you can even type a city, you're forced through dozens of questions, splash screens, and data collection. Many delete the app before ever reaching the planner — it feels like your data is being farmed.
are you guys seriously asking 50+ questions before opening the app! didn't expect this
I got about 10 questions into the intrusive data farming just to log into the thing and then quit
I was forced to answer a whole bunch of irrelevant questions before even using the app.
«Free» turns out to be a 7-day trial that demands a card
Advertised as free, but after install it demands card details for a 7-day auto-billing trial. People call it bait-and-switch; some were charged without consent and then had to fight to delete the account.
dishonest right up front it states it's free, then once you install it, it's a 7 day trial and wants credit card info.
not free, have to "sign up" for a 7 day free test, then they AUTOMATICALLY BILL you for $40 a year if you dont cancel, Gfy!
And they took forty two dollars out of my account.
Lag and freezes make the app unusable as the trip grows
Once you add a reasonable number of places, the app slows, freezes, and stops responding — to the point that Android offers to kill the process. The web version works; mobile doesn't.
Once you add (a reasonable) number of places to a trip, the app constantly freezes and becomes unusable
the app is super slow. are you mining bitcoin with my cellphone?
It hangs and stutters every 5 minutes, most things don't load, and the itinerary creator is supremely clunky.
Constant Pro popups annoy even satisfied users
Banners, popups, and pushy tutorials about upgrading appear at every step, even when the user is happy with the free version. An app that should simplify keeps getting in the way.
constant popups to get premium even though I am happy with the free version. anytime I open the app.
There's a million popups trying to get your attention and check out a new feature.
the UI is overloaded with useless stuff, they're constantly trying to push some AI stuff on you and the amount of notifications and unasked for tutorials are a dealbreaker.
Email reservation import — a promise that often misfires
The signature feature (auto-parsing emails) fails for many: Airbnb bookings aren't recognized, tour and theater tickets are ignored, some entries get duplicated. You end up entering it all by hand — defeating the point.
changing plans or importing emails is a joke. About 1/4 of the emails actually import correctly.
I forwarded by email airbnb reservations which it couldn't figure out. Then when I granted access to my Gmail it figured it out but put it in twice.
having a hard time syncing emails showing up. even after I try forwarding them. They simply won't show up.
AI features break the itinerary instead of helping
Trying the AI leads to losses: it wipes a whole month's plan, dumps every item onto one day, and crashes. The «smart» optimizer can't account for places' opening hours.
When I tried to use AI to start a new itinerary , it erased my whole entire trip although it said I would only water the itinerary page. A whole month's worth of work down the drain!!!
The AI completely destroyed my itinerary the morning of my two week trip after I asked it to move a few items. It just moved everything to Monday and then repeatedly crashed
Pro mode is not worth it. It's unable to really intelligently to optimize route as it can't discern opening schedule
Dark mode and basic essentials locked behind the paywall
What grates isn't paying as such, but that basic things like dark mode require a subscription. And it's annual-only — wrong for people who travel a couple times a year; they ask for a one-time purchase.
something as basic as switching to dark mode shouldn't need a subscription.
To hide dark mode behind the pro pay wall is diabolical. What year are we living in?
I hate subscriptions! let me buy the app or forget it. I don't travel every month why would I pay monthly.
Front-door breakages: stuck language picker and account bugs
After updates the app gets stuck on a language-selection popup where «Continue» does nothing — mid-trip. Plus login failures, being logged out on every launch, and a keyboard that closes itself.
no longer working after update. just showing preffered langage pop up. we are in the MIDDLE of our trip.
it keeps asking for a preferred language & will not continue after selecting a preferred language & pressing the 'Continue' button.
Everytime I close and reopen the app, it will ask me to create a new account and to enter my username.
