Work Log reviews

What users love and hate · 500 reviews analyzed · ★ 4.7

A simple offline work-hours tracker with pay calculation — people love it for being minimal with no cloud or logins, yet that same simplicity turns into lost data and fragile updates.

What users love

Disarming simplicity is the main love

Most happy reviews praise the same thing: the app does exactly one job — count hours — and does it simply, quickly and clearly. No bloat, a true 'less is more'.

simplicity at its best. if you work on the less is more principal, this is for you

simple UI, everything you need, great app

I can't say one bad thing about this app. Great functionality, user friendly. It has one job; to track/total time and it does it. perfect

It works out your pay from the rate

The key value beyond a plain timer: enter your hourly rate and the app works out earnings per day, week and pay period. People use it to check their employer's math and avoid being short-changed.

Absolutely love this app. It's straight to the point and the fact that I can add my hourly rate and it works my wages out so accurately

helps me ensure that my job is accurately paying me for my time

love that I can factor in my hourly rate and I can see how much my check is going to be

Editable shifts save the forgetful

A strength for people on manual time-keeping: even if you forget to clock in, you can go back and set the real time after the fact and add a note to the shift. That's what makes it a reliable replacement for paper timesheets.

Even if you forget to punch in you can go back in and edit your time to when you actually went in.

Easy and great! Siimple functions and an easy layout I love how easy it is to make corrections.

I like the note feature. I use it to keep track of what jobs I've worked on through the week.

No ads and no cloud clutter

People specifically value that the free version doesn't bury them in ads and demands no accounts or logins: install and go. For many that's the direct reason they pick it over dozens of other trackers.

So easy to use......very customizable and not hidden behind a paywall or annoying ads

I need something to keep track of my hours and days I work. This app is easy, no ads, straight to the point.

I especially love how I am NOT bombarded and annoyed with ads to be able to enjoy and use the app as intended.

What users hate

Shifts vanish on their own

The most common pain: logged shifts disappear — after a reboot, after a new entry, sometimes just overnight. For an app people use to track money owed for hours worked, this strikes right at trust.

there have been many times that I open the app and multiple shifts have disappeared

keeps deleting the previous shift every time I record a new one. not helpful at all

App tends to delete shifts rendering your totals inaccurate

An update wipes out years of history

An update promises to transfer the data but instead erases everything or breaks the migration. People lose months and years of records — for long-time users this is the most painful scenario of all.

now there is an update that should transfer the existing data. Nope, it didn't happen

Lost ALL shift due to new update. Cannot retrieve any shifts from last 3 years.

I went to clock in this morning and all of my data has been erased

Export and printing locked behind paywall

Without the paid version you can't export a report or PDF — yet sending the log to an employer is the whole point for many users. The free version without export feels like 'just a note on my phone'.

the free version won't export any reports so I can't actually print anything from the app

export data is paid feature. without it, the application is useless.

Would give 5 stars I'd there was at least one pdf export option that was free. Or maybe spreadsheet export. otherwise it's just a tracker on my phone

Too few rates for multiple jobs and holidays

The app caps out at one or two rates, but people's reality is messier: evening, night, weekend and holiday rates, a second job, a day rate. The single most common feature request is more slots for different rates.

only two premium hour options! I would need them for evening shift, night shift, saturday shift and sunday shift; in all of them the pay is different for me

lacking multiple premium rates my 1 job has 3 different rates. no 2nd job option, also with different pay rates

I cant seem to find a way to do 2 different rates for like Christmas and Easter type rates of triple time

The UI redesign made it worse

A recent redesign broke familiar habits: checkboxes on the left gone, notes collapsed into tiny cells, shift view showing every other day. Some long-time users are asking for a 'classic mode' back.

UI update literally made it less usable. Give me back my check boxes on the left.

made it so I can now only see every other day when I go to view shifts

with a recent update it's collapsed all the notes that are long into small cells and I can't seem to edit my notes anymore after saving a shift

Suspicious pop-up sites and 'virus' scares

An alarming signal: pressing 'new shift' or 'punch in' sometimes opens random sites screaming 'your phone is infected'. For a tracker entrusted with work data, this badly undermines its reputation.

Lately this app keeps trying to open random sites when I hit new shift or punch in.

when I use this app sometimes it will randomly open Chrome on a page that says 'your phone has 3 viruses'

Seemed to generate spammy "your Android is infected" popups.

Paid 'Pro' gets lost when you switch devices

The purchased premium is hard to restore: after a new phone, a reinstall or a fresh Android, Pro won't install and people don't know how to get back what they paid for. The lack of cloud bites here too.

why can't I install the pro version I purchased last year??

I recently changed my phone and lost my premium version of this app. I need assistance to recover my purchase.

the reinstall states that the app isn't compatible with my device

Accidental shift reset with no undo

Fragile UX: one wrong tap zeroes out a day's work, with no undo button. Sometimes a manual-entry window pops up by itself, and leaving it erases the punch-in time.

The App let's you reset the day work by mistakenly pressing the wrong button. No regret option. I had 4 days reset already
