A long-standing note organizer with web clipping and cross-device sync — built for users who have been storing large archives of notes for years.

What users love

For longtime fans, it's an 'external brain' that keeps everything at hand

Long-term users keep notes, lists, and ideas in one place for years and can't imagine work or daily life without it

I used to love this app so much back in 2020 but now I no longer have space for new notes, so now every time I want to make a new one, I have to delete a old one. the user face is also different and less appealing. Overall the pay wall blocking everything has led me to unistalling the app. I've seen other reviews on here and im gonna transfer all my notes out to Samsung notes instead before I lose

wonderful app!

Easy export to competitors is both a lifeline and a death sentence

Built-in export lets users migrate cleanly to Obsidian, OneNote, UpNote, Joplin, or Google Keep

I loved this app, for many years it was my wingman. I've been a paid user since 2016 (when the cost was £22.50 per year), and a free user for years before that. But the price kept increasing a lot, I didn't see the benefits. The recent price rises that take the cost to over £150 per year are criminally insane and IMHO an act of self harm. so I have migrated to Obsidian, it was an easy process with

It's become useless now that they have included unskippable video ads, as well as all kinds of useless AI pop-ups. Try Upnote instead, you can get a lifetime subscription for the same cost as 1 year with Evernote.

The Bending Spoons acquisition has fractured trust

Some users acknowledge gradual improvements and more stable performance since the ownership change

Update 2026: Bending Spoons has greatly improved EN and listens to users! Update Feb 2024: bugs & issues are gradually getting fixed. Thanks Bending Spoons! Update Dec 2023: newer versions are decent, but still have tons of issues. Paid user for 12 years but I use legacy versions. Because the current versions suck (no manual sync, auto features result in losing work, UI is not user-friendly, homep

Overall I'm very impressed with Evernote since Bending Spoons took over. yes it's more expensive, but many more useful and well executed features. Great improvement.

Been a paid pro user for 13 years. Bending spoons has finally priced me out this app and asked for a 110% price increase to renew my subscription this year. This is extortionate and as someone who uses the app for notes the price no longer justifies keeping it live. I have now begun migrating all my notebooks to another app (they are out there). A real shame as I'm a loyal longterm user but it's d

What users hate

The subscription price has multiplied — that's the main reason people leave

Annual fees jumped several times over (from $40–80 to $150–250); the increase is framed as a 'new pricing structure,' and longtime subscribers are canceling en masse

it is way too expensive for what I use it for. Not priced for someone in retirement (not their target group) so I will soon have to let it go. This new company that took it over is clearly not service-oriented. I have tried repeatedly to contact a real person to resolve issues but have not been able to do that no matter what buttons I press. I wish them all the best in their endeavors.

The free tier is capped at 50 notes and one notebook

The free plan allows roughly 50 notes and a single notebook — and the counter hits the limit even when you have fewer than thirty

I've used Evernote for almost 10 years, but I'll be deleting it today. I can't use the app at all without being pestered to death by the upgrade pop-up. And now, the limit of notes you can create is 50. Not the amount of notes you can HAVE, the amount of notes you can CREATE. So the app is no longer usable for me because I've made more than 50 notes. And it doesn't matter that I've deleted things

What a joke. I used to use this app to keep note on things involving work or gaming. I haven't used it in a while so I didn't know how bad it had gotten. opened and updated so I could make a few notes about work since I have a new job and I get a pop-up saying I can only have 50 notes unless I pay. The joke? I only had 7 notes saved! I even deleted a couple, but NOPE! This used to be a helpful and

I'm receiving notices that I'm at my content limit. But I can find no way to delete items.

Your own old notes get locked behind a paywall

Once a subscription lapses, users can't open notes they've accumulated over years; it feels like being held hostage by your own data

Earlier it was good but now this app become pathetic. I have a lot of notes in this app. Now I have to pay unreasonably high charges, just to read my own notes, which I have prepared with years of efforts.

worst experience i have been hearing many time about this app as my senior also suggested me for notes making to go with evernote but when i install this application its lock me out back to back i am frustrated.

I've been using this app with the free plan since 2014. I have had issues with messaging, file sharing, and collaboration since 2014. Edit to add: forced me to pay to access my own notes, can't share or collaborate and half the time doesn't work as promised. What am I paying for?

Opening a note means closing a stack of 'upgrade now' windows first

The path to any note is blocked by subscription pop-ups and 'what's new' pages; the 'don't show again' button resets on every launch

Free users sit through unskippable ads and mini-games before reaching their notes

Free users are shown video ads and mini-games lasting 30–60 seconds (sometimes up to five minutes) that can't be dismissed before accessing a note

You make me watch an ad before I can log into an already licensed product? seriously? You gray out the continue button with a progress bar? this is stupid.

unskippable ad

New users see an Evernote ad before they've even created an account

On first launch, the app plays an unskippable promo video about itself — the app you just installed — and sometimes goes straight to the most expensive plan

unskippable ad

When first opening the app, it started with an unskippable ad, then was prompting me to sign up for their premium offerings and trial. I have not even made an account yet, how am I supposed to know if I want these features? after making an account, the make your first notebook guide kept repeating the same steps, so I couldn't even move forward. I decided this isn't the app for me.

3 seconds from downloading it. i get a 30 seconds ad. nah thanks.

Free cross-device sync is gone — it's paid-only now

Only one device works for free; old phones can't be unlinked — the 'disconnect' button doesn't open — leaving users stuck

Only one device for free tier.

Used to be the best notetaking app. But they got greedy. Subscription prices are insane just to be able to access notes everywhere. That's not an enterprise, feature. Cross-platform should just be a given for the everyday user. They're treating every user like an enterprise user with subscriptions like this.

App is unusable. I can't disconnect devices I don't use.

A hidden 1,000-note cap catches paying subscribers off guard

The plan doesn't mention a 1,000-note limit at purchase; anyone over the limit can't create new notes and is forced to upgrade to a pricier tier

I have loved this app for years and utilized it personally and for business to use across devices. Now Evernote wants more money for the very same things I have had for years and I am constantly encountering access blocked to being able to do something as easy as adding a photo. Now I have apparently have a limit of 1,000 attachments so I can upgrade to the some of a 300% fee. It';s all really dis

they clam that personal plan you get 1000 note however i saddly made subscription on this plan and keep geting notification to pay extra for higher plan my total note is 870 but system doesn't allow me to create new one and block note with dump add i try to contact support but no help or respect to old customer

NO⭐️ - Tricked me into a subscription by offering a discount. This sub wasn't for the same thing as my previous one, which had recently ended, & wouldn't allow more than 1000 notes,I already had more than that so I'm unable to create any notes. Evernote knew that when they made the offer. They're refusing to refund me as the ofter was via Google who don't see this as refund issues. They should never

Forced AI features that can't be turned off

Title suggestions and a built-in assistant cover the screen and rename notes; users ask for an opt-out, but there isn't one

It's become useless now that they have included unskippable video ads, as well as all kinds of useless AI pop-ups. Try Upnote instead, you can get a lifetime subscription for the same cost as 1 year with Evernote.

Currently a broken mess. Consider this: Evernote has provided a ton of new AI stuff but simply forwarding emails to your Evernote account is now often rejected by their own server. Please, please, please, get the basics right and I'll keep being a paying customer; but keep stuffing this up and I'm out.

Once an okay app, now it's not. The AI features make it a laughing stock.

People want a fast, simple app — they get a cluttered screen

New features nobody uses keep piling on; the home screen is a mess, and the core job of taking notes is done worse than before

Holding my data hostage behind aggressive adverts and lockout screens is unethical! I will be deleting my account when I am unable to view my own data! terrible and typical money-hungry busibess! Evernote used to be great, now its bloated trash!

has gone downhill. used to be simple quick and easy to use, now it updates all the time to add features nobody wants -- which makes it less and less usable for its original purpose. seems like it's just a play on hostaged notes people have made over the years

Have been a panying user for years. Just tried to increase my subscription fee by 10x. Migrating my notes out as we speak. Has also become incredibly slow as they continue to feature creep things you don't need.

Lags and freezes even on new phones with a paid plan

Opening notes and typing noticeably stutter; large notes (20,000+ words) and offline mode degrade badly, even on premium

I am deeply disappointed that, with all the complaints about the sluggishness of the app, for over 6 months, nothing has been done to improve it, and I can no longer use the previous versions 😡😡🤬 Came back in 2026 to see the app has only gotten worse and costlier from the reviews. You can port to Zoho notebook did the same and it was seamless. It is a shame what Evernote became, so much promise

Too expensive...going up £40 in 2026. Too slow offline despite paying for premium. Too many annoying bugs and defects to describe in 500 words but including continously shutting down when you haven't asked it to, prevents screen time out if you leave the app on screen, no search facility in Trash, search options don't automatically return most recent changes, can't properly insert or delete rows a

This is by far the worst app I have ever used. The interface is confusing, the performance is terrible, and it constantly wastes users' time. Features barely work as expected, and the overall experience is frustrating from start to finish. The app feels unfinished, unreliable, and poorly designed. I would not recommend it to anyone. There are countless better alternatives available. Downloading th

The delete button and text selection misfire constantly

Selected text often isn't deleted when you hit 'delete,' and instead of highlighting text the 'copy note' screen appears; editing older content has become a chore

The changes have made it extremely difficult to edit existing text. it was once a useful app. now it is a mess.

app is literally trash now in android, editor option vanished to bold and highlight, doesn't open, doesn't sync 100mb files ,

Was a great app. But is now giving me "View Only" most of the time when editing a note. *Update 2026, it's even WORSE! I simply went to highlight a note and now this stupid copy note edit screen pops up. I don't want to copy! Just want to highlight. I advise everyone to stay away or delete.

A note closes the moment you switch to another app

Step away to copy text from another app and come back — the open note snaps shut and you have to find your place again

app is literally trash now in android, editor option vanished to bold and highlight, doesn't open, doesn't sync 100mb files ,

I'm going to sign in to anything for notes.

Am a long time user with lots of info stored on Evernote during the last 15/20 years. Am unable renew subscription due to issues at Evernote back end. This is crazy - have been using this for 15/20 years

No way to save or print a note as PDF

Notes can't be exported as PDF or printed from the app — the only sharing option offered is an Evernote link

there is no option to save your note into pdf form

I've used this app for 10 years and loved its earlier, simpler days. However, ongoing additions and "improvements" have actually cluttered the platform (more is not always better), and the HUGE price increases the past two years are ridiculous. Last year, it jumped from $69.99 to $119.99. This year, the price has increased to an unbelievable $179.89. I've also run into snags with the phone app: 1)

ARGH! once you start, you'll get stuck... price keeps going up. use something else. 4/26: My notes have gone missing and their recovery process does not work! 2020: Can't print your notes to PDF from the app! Forces you to share a Evernote link...

Users want simpler pricing and an affordable mid-tier plan

People are willing to pay a moderate amount (a few dollars a month or up to $50 a year) and want tiered options instead of jumping straight to the most expensive plan

I'm receiving notices that I'm at my content limit. But I can find no way to delete items.

Loved this note app for years but they leaned in hard for premium at $187/year?! Lock notes. Lock devices. Enshitification.

I have been priced out. I can't afford to spend $22 a month on a notes app i only sometimes use. i have well over 20 notebooks so downgrading to the more affordable starter subscription plan would not work for me. Pretty sad considering how long I've had it. I barely use any storage. their pricing model makes no sense unless you use it like crazy. it shouldn't cost a fraction of what i was paying.

Screen rotates while reading in bed — no way to lock it

Reading in bed is awkward: the screen rotates even with device rotation locked, and there's no toggle inside the app

I love the app. My only problem is with the fact that I can't switch off the auto rotate mode. Making it really difficult to use the app on the bed.

screen keeps rotating even though I have the settings locked

could not switch off auto-totate.

Twenty years in and still no right-to-left text input

The text editor still doesn't support proper input for right-to-left languages

no right to left support? what a text editor. just backwards

21 years in the making and still can't write right to left languages correctly. what an incompetent team. no wonder why your ratings keep declining.
