A recorder-with-transcription app for meetings, interviews and calls — its speech recognition is genuinely strong, but silent recordings and the inability to get files out of the app destroy its reliability.
What users love
Best-in-class speech recognition
Users who get to the transcription praise it as the most accurate on the market — better than built-in iOS/Android, handles long recordings better than ChatGPT, and copes even with poor diction. For many it's the one reason they tolerate everything else.
Most accurate speech to text I've tried yet, have tried at least 6 or so.
Transcription is excellent, and arguably better than iOS/Android, and supports much longer recordings than ChatGPT.
The best transcription tool on the market by far
Saves time on meetings, interviews and notes
When it works, it's a beloved daily tool: journalists, researchers, students and doctors dictate thoughts on the go and get clean text back. A simple interface, instant start and good recording quality make it indispensable in everyday work.
It's easy to use, increases my productivity and the AI transcript has been spot on.
very cost effective way to keep notes from meetings without writing everything done or relying on your memory
great tool for my Master's program when interviewing
Clean mic capture — even for music
As a pure recorder the app earns separate praise: crisp sound with no app noise, no ads and no time limit. Musicians capture guitar and vocals, some use it as a journal — for basic recording it's among the best options around.
In terms of a phone recorder this is the best app I have ever tried.
Simple, unobtrusive, no noise from the app itself, and there's no recording limit.
I use it for music guitar playing
What users hate
It records, but the file plays back silent
The most frequent and most painful complaint: the app shows it's recording (duration, meeting minutes), but on playback there's total silence or only the first few seconds of audio. Users only discover it after the interview or important call, when nothing can be recovered.
It appeared to be recording but the file is just silence. I lost a 1 hour interview.
It is only when you go back to listen that it is silence! What a waste!
It recorded nothing. I have 45 minutes of nothing now so thank you for that.
Files are trapped inside the app — no way to export
Sharing, export and backup are broken: email and Dropbox buttons throw errors, leaving only Bluetooth that also fails. Recordings are literally stuck in the app, and hours of work can't be moved to a computer.
They are literally stuck in the app. which sucks.
Unable to save and transfer your files outside of the app.
there is literally no way at all to get the recordings off the phone digitally
Advertises call recording that Android doesn't actually do
The website and store listing promise phone-call recording, but on Android the app only captures the mic. Calls come out silent or last a few seconds, and the Android build is fundamentally different from iOS, which does record calls.
says it can record calls and does nothing of the sort
Stops recording when on a call, even when playing through speaker (FALSE CLAIMS)
I thought it would record calls, I was deceived.
The $10 promo vanishes and the card gets charged anyway
The same script hits dozens of users: a $10 promo on first launch, then after entering a card it says "you've already used this promo" though no transcription happened yet. Money is charged immediately with nothing delivered, and many call it an outright scam.
you are told "oops, looks like you've already used this credit" when you most certainly have not. Garbage.
When I uploaded the recording, it said I already used promo
Offered a discount code 1st login, got my card info, then said code had already been used.
A hidden subscription you can't cancel
The subscription is billed outside Google Play, so it can't be cancelled there, and the app itself has no account management. Meanwhile the website shows a "Free" plan — nothing to cancel, yet money keeps leaving. Deleting the account is blocked too.
I'm being charged $14.99/mo with no way to cancel through the Play store, the app or the actual website.
It gave me an error saying it cannot be deleted. Seems a little suspicious..
tried to close it myself and it won't close
Forced account just to record
To simply use the recorder, the app demands you create an account and hand over personal data. This scares people off at the very first screen — especially the question of why a recorder needs their recordings and banking details — and they uninstall before ever using it.
why do i need to create an account and give information for an app to record calls, now uninstalled before i even used the recorder
Open app. First thing I see: "create an account"
I refused to create an account to make recordings. Why? What are you doing with my recordings?
Crashes and updates that wipe your recordings
The app crashes when the screen locks or on launch and stops working after updates, taking already-made recordings down with it. "Error saving recording" and files gone after an update are a recurring theme among formerly happy users.
it has an error saving my recordings and then they're lost
Crashes and stops recording if your phone locks.
After updating for betterment l found all previous recordings have been deleted.
You pay for transcription blind — no preview
Pricing stings ($1.25–1.5 per minute) and you can't check quality before paying. Many find it absurd next to Google Live Transcribe doing similar for free; the recording stays "locked" until you pay, even when no transcription is needed at all.
$1.5 for a minute of transcribing LMAO. What Google live transcribe does for free
my transcription recording is locked without any way to even pay to get it "unlocked"
Each transcription costs and there is no way to preview.
No navigation in a recording, no copy of the text
In a finished transcript you can't select and copy the text — only share a link, which infuriates journalists and anyone wanting to paste it into ChatGPT. You also can't jump to a point in a recording: you have to listen from start to finish.
exporting (like being able to copy a full transcript) is damn near impossible
it doesn't allow you to download the transcript you can only share it which is kind of silly
after transcribing, users should be able to copy the text, but this feature is not available
