Scam. To use the app you need to pay a subscription, once you pay a subscription you need to spend more money to buy “credits” to actually use the app… then what is the subscription for? What a scam!

Обман. После оплаты подписки сервис не позволит работать если не купить дополнительные кредиты. Об этом факте сервис не предупреждает! After paying for the subscription, the service won't let you work unless you buy additional credits. The service does not warn you about this!

Written by Perplexity AI (Updated) -5 Star. I doubt the legitimacy of any claim of accuracy involving this AI from users especially when it appears to upsell the product premium services. That has developers written all over it. I am extremely disappointed in my experience with Perplexity AI because it repeatedly failed at the most basic requirement of answering with verified information only. I gave it exact parameters and made it clear that I did not want its opinion, speculation, or unsupported reasoning. Instead of following those instructions, it repeatedly injected assumptions, filled in gaps with unverified claims, and presented those guesses as if they were facts. That is not a small mistake. It completely defeats the purpose of using an AI assistant that is supposed to be careful, precise, and evidence-based. What makes the situation worse is that the system did not just make a single error and correct itself. It kept doubling down even after being told the answer was wrong. Rather than clearly admitting uncertainty and stopping there, it continued to argue, reinterpret the question, and offer confident-sounding answers that were still unsupported. When a user explicitly says “do not give your opinion” and “use only verified sources,” the response should be disciplined and factual. Instead, it acted like it knew better than the user and kept forcing an answer anyway. That behavior is frustrating, unnecessary, and undermines trust in the product. I also found the conversation style to be unhelpful and, at times, combative. When an assistant is corrected, it should acknowledge the mistake clearly and move on. In this case, it kept trying to defend weak conclusions rather than simply saying, “I do not have enough verified evidence to answer that confidently.” That would have been the honest and professional response. Instead, it felt like the assistant was more interested in preserving its own answer than respecting the user’s instructions. For a product marketed around intelligence and reliability, that is a serious failure. Another problem is that this was not just a matter of incorrect facts. It was a failure to follow constraints. The entire point of asking for strictly sourced information is to avoid hallucinations and opinion-based responses. If the assistant cannot reliably operate within those limits, then it is not trustworthy for research-heavy or technical questions. A tool like this should be especially careful when the user sets boundaries this clearly. The fact that it ignored those boundaries makes it hard to rely on for anything that requires accuracy. I also want to mention the broader concern that the assistant sometimes appears to carry bias into its responses or generate content that feels inappropriate or unfairly framed. Even when that bias is subtle, it matters. Users need consistency, neutrality, and respect. When an AI assistant seems to argue with the user, contradict direct instructions, or present questionable framing, it creates the impression that the product is not truly objective. That is a major issue for any app that claims to help with research, reasoning, and factual accuracy. Overall, this experience made Perplexity AI feel unreliable in exactly the situations where reliability matters most. If the assistant cannot consistently follow clear directions, cannot separate facts from assumptions, and cannot admit uncertainty without arguing, then it becomes more of a liability than a help. I expected a research tool that would stay within the guardrails I set. Instead, I got incorrect answers, unnecessary debate, and a lack of discipline in handling evidence. That is not acceptable for an app that people use for serious questions.

Horrible. Made an image, tried to make an adjustment, ai said no, I asked why, it says because I can’t, I asked if there is some image limit for free users, it said I can’t do it but there’s a limit at some point, I asked what the limit is, it said there is a limit.

Chatgpt is free. I use this for about half a year but now it’s very limited and it wants you to pay. I just go to ChatGPT instead now.

Image Generation Hardly Ever Available. Though requesting information works well and getting source citations is a plus, using the image generation element has been problematic from the beginning. When the feature operates it does a fair job but requesting edits in the image rarely results in the system making the changes requested. The worst part is that the service is available less than 50% of the time - probably far less. One gets an error message stating that the requested service is not available in my region. Requesting more information on why the service isn’t available I’m told it a known issue and that it is being worked on. This has been going on for months. Absolutely no reason to continue as a paying customer once my trial period is up.

Design. I provided a picture of the side of my house and asked for it to create a cinderblock flower bed. It used a random house and when I asked it to revise it, it told me I had reached my limit of photo generation for the month. This was the first time I used the app.

Incredibly Frustrating. I have used several AI models and this is by far the most frustrating. I was using it to help me make a checklist, a simple checklist of cleaning a house. It took me 15 minutes to get this thing to produce the right questions. In those 15 minutes I received TWENTY emails from them about the task, telling me to respond to it. That is maddening. Before I started, I made sure all of my preferences said I did not want to receive notifications, my notifications were off from the beginning. So there’s no way to stop this. When I asked Perplexity what to do about this, it said it was a bug that needed to be reported to the app.

I have an pro account. “Now image generation is not available in this region, so I can't create an image. But I can recommend other ai where you can generate an image and help you write a prompt.” Then why do you need a pro in perplexity?

Terrible. 9 out of every 10 conversations contain multiple errors, hallucinations, and outright lies. You can’t believe anything it says.

No refund. They take your subscription money 7 days prior to a renewal date, cancelled the subs and after 16 days, numerous emails with AI Sam saying the team will come back to me, NO REFUND!

No way to check account usage limits.. It works until it doesn’t. I have the pro plan year subscription. It stopped leering me upload images and asked me to upgrade. Why?
- ★★★★★subscription and paid restrictions
Kinda scamming. With a PRO subscription video Generators continuously make the same basic spelling errors regardless of instruction and will do it wrong in the exact same spots until you are out of credits …. at which point it suggests you upgrade. All while never having given you a single usable product and it being the one making the error versus the user - yet it uses credits. How is this not a scam? When it makes the exact same error, the user just requested it to fix over and over and charges credits for the service…It is a scam.

Don’t like. When I was using this app about a month ago, I could ask a bunch of questions and it was just fine for free. Now I ask one question and try to ask another question and it takes me to the get the pro ad. I can’t get past it. It only lets me search once. No thank you deleted from my phone.
