   I don’t want to do the free trial. I can’t even use the app until I sign up my credit card for a free trial that I don’t want! This is ridiculous

   A Rip-off!. A Rip-off! The first thing that catches your eye is a bunch of spelling and stylistic errors that are presented in your own language. I think other languages are no exception. 2. If no one answers your question, then you will be given a bot under a person's account, their bots are stupid and can transfer such trash to you that it will not match your request at all. Cheap bots, worse than macaques with a grenade. And it's for your money. If you prefer to believe a Toothless dentist, then of course it's your choice. But if you really came to find out something, you're not here - that's a fact! 3. You are forced to pay immediately, even though the AI says that this is a free platform with a free feature. From which we conclude that it was free, now its time has passed and most likely the owner has changed and everything is going in the direction where it smells very bad. 4. You can find the rest of the disadvantages yourself for your own money, if you feel like it or if it's bad luck. 5. Hinative only for you with love. Сразу возникает вопрос на других вряд ли будет лучше! 2. Если никто не ответит на ваш вопрос, то вам подсунут бота под аккаунтом человека, их боты тупые и могут вам перевести такую помойку в которую можете поверить. Вы же заплатили. Если вы предпочитаете беззубого дантиста это конечно ваше дело. 3. Вас вынуждают платить тут же, хотя ИИ говорит, что эта бесплатная платформа с платной функцией. Из чего мы заключаем, что эта платформа бесплатной была, но теперь её время прошло и скорее всего хозяин поменялся и всё идёт в ту сторону, где очень плохо пахнет. 4.    WHY MARKET YOUR SITE AS FREE WHEN ITS NOT. WHY MARKET YOUR SITE AS FREE WHEN ITS NOT. I SIGNED UP AND IT ASKED ME FOR A FREE TRIAL WITH NO WAY OF GETTING OUT OF IT. I OPENED AND CLOSED THE APP AGAIN AND IT NOW SAYS I NEED A PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTION TO USE THE APP. I DONT NORMALLY REVIEW, BUT THIS IS PRETTY GREEDY.

   Deceptive premium. This app does not inform the user that a premium account is required to use it before they sign up. I would have been willing to pay if I had been informed ahead of time that premium is mandatory for access. But because the owners decided to play a nasty psychological trick instead of being honest upfront I will be taking my business elsewhere. Don’t play games with your customers.

   Greedy Greedy. I only got the app because I didn’t want to read on the website all the time. When I got this app, i have to PAY to use which is ridiculous! I don’t care about the free trail! I just wanted to read similarities questions I have in my target language! That tells me this company only cares for money. You’re just greedy.

   Used to be really good. This app is genuinely helpful but im writing a 1 star review due to the ai slop they integrated as part of the “premium” subscription. Every time you ask a question you get a huge wall of AI garbage thats usually wrong, before any real person can reply. The other features are useful but you really think people wanna pay for something that only worsens the experience? I dont even remember being told that was part of the subscription when they added it. Absolutely delusional behavior.

   Money Trap. The app literally won’t let you use their platform without signing for a “free” membership trial first; which is really just a way for them to get you to sign up for their subscription service hoping you forget about it before the free trial is finished so they can bill you. Sure you can “cancel anytime” as they advertise but I don’t see why I should be FORCED to sign up for their subscription plan in the first place. There should be a button that allows me to bypass signing up for their subscription service but, to my knowledge, no such button exists.

   Why am I required to do a premium free trial?. I think the app is a good concept, I use it on my phone and don't have this problem, but on my iPad I can't get past the screen begging me to join premium. As it seems from other reviews, I'm required to do a free trial and give my card number if I want to use the app. I will absolutely not be doing that, I'm not interested whatsoever. I loved this app years ago and wanted to give it a shot again, but it's majorly gone downhill with this and the AI. Will probably be deleting it.

    Used to use app years ago, had a reason to start again and I am instantly angry. I do not want to sign up for a free trial or agree to payments off the bat. You cannot avoid the “free trial” button after logging into the app. When you finally accept “free trial” it tries to get you to log in a payment agreement. I feel like this is such a scummy way to run a business. I am honestly disgusted. I used to enjoy this app.

    Sad it‘s become disappointing. Sadly, this app/company has gone the way of so many and over-relied on AI. The AI as an option was annoying, but fine. However, now it seems all user answers are gone, and the only choice is to interact with an AI system that simply does not understand nuances in languages. This is why user and native speaker input was so critical. It‘s unfortunate, as this was my absolute favorite app for fine tuning languages. Especially in terms of everyday and colloquiaöl speech.

    If I wanted to use an AI, I would’ve used a different app.. This app used to be more helpful because I could easily find answers from real humans who know what they’re talking about. Now I have to sift through incorrect AI answers. There’s no reason to use an AI for this stuff, the whole point of the app was to get answers from other humans.

    stupid app. this is the dumbest app ever. it would be so helpful if you didn’t have to pay for everything. but you can barely use any of the app if you don’t have premium. stupid.

    I want natives’ answers not AI’s. I used to love this app. Even before searching a dictionary, I would come here and search my question to see if someone has already asked it. Especially when searching for differences between words, who can explain it better than a native? But then there came the AI. I understand the business-wise importance of AI but AI messed up the app. Now I can’t even search among asked questions and I have to ask AI first? And AI doesn’t even gives me a correct answer. I wish at least I could change the AI language to English not my native language so maybe I get a more solid answer. After not using this app for months, I still feel the need for the old HiNative, that’s why I’m writing this. Give me my search bar back :(( Thank you.

    Awful AI garbage, flashing banners, and begging you for money. I was familiar with HiNative back when it was called Lang-8, it used to be a nice blogging platform where you would help people learn by correcting their blog posts. HiNative is now is just an annoying, noisy, chaotic app that begs for money. AI bots - The app promotes it's AI chatbot (which it wants you to pay for) and talks about how you can by corrected by AI. AI is often wrong, hallucinates answers, and wastes massive amounts of energy to do so. If I wanted to talk to an AI bot I would not use an app that wants to charge me money to do so. The draw should be connecting with other human native speakers, the fact that AI is promoted as a benefit is bewildering when you have a userbase that wants to learn from other people. AI bots are rampant and not hard to find, native speakers of a language you're learning should be the ONLY draw to your app. Streaming - The app REALLY pushes streaming on you. As soon as you open the app you're greeted with a notification that someone you don't know is streaming, and when you close that, the entire top bar of the site is icons of people streaming, with multiple flashing LIVE buttons on each user. It's EXTREMELY annoying and obnoxious. You're constantly forced to look at the flashing icons that never go away. Streaming COULD be beneficial for language learning, but once you go to the actual streaming page most of the space is taken up by rotating ads begging you to buy streaming currency. If you're familiar with the failure that is the Tumblr streaming service, which was so bad that the users bullied Tumblr into removing it completely, this app is using the exact same one. Again, it COULD be very helpful to have streams for language learning, but as far as I can tell there's only a handful of actual people live at any given moment (when I checked just now there was only three people live), and the rest of the page is taken up by ads or by past streams. The biggest issue I have is the annoying and obnoxious way they're pushing the streaming part of the app, with constant notifications, flashing banners, and ads. Which is really a shame because if it wasn't so annoying it could have real benefits for language learners. But it seems their priority is pushing streaming so you can buy their currency. As stated at the beginning, I've been using this service since before it was even an app, and it's really sad to see how it gets progressively worse and worse over the years with things no one wants and begging for money in all the wrong ways. The obnoxious flashing ads and icons are an eyesore, the AI chatbot is antithetical to what the focus of the app should be, and around it's hard to use the app without getting irritated.

    Remove or have option it remove chatbot. This app was very important to my language learning journey but the new chatbot ruins the functionally and usefulness. Please remove the bot or at least give me the option to remove the bot.

    App functionality is locked. Honestly, I can’t even use this app without being forced to asks a question first? I came to use it to help answer a question I saw on the website in Spanish and wanted to help with a native English answer. But the nav bar is locked until I’m forced to ask a question? I can’t search for topics or do anything else. Terrible UX for a first time user, I deleted the app. Make it easy to use

    Option To Search is No longer available. I used to absolutely love this app, to be able to search for questions answered by native language speakers. However, the search option has been completely replaced by an AI chatbot, which does not give as accurate of information. Please bring back the search tab, or make create a separate tab for the AI Chatbot itself so that users can still search! Thank you!

    English( US) farce. Not a good place to learn good American English grammar, as informal midwest colloquialism overpowers proper American English grammar rules. I deleted my account. I used it for a week, never asking a single question only answering questions. I rose substantially and very quickly in the "chosen answer" rank, which made regular "instructors" jealous.

    Too costly. I tried the app, found out it's not useable unless you pay a subscription charge. Free searches on google way easier, cheaper, and satisfactory for me.

    I used to enjoy this app…. I used to enjoy this app a great deal and spent lots of time on it helping English learners. About a week or so ago there was an update that will not allow me to use the app in landscape orientation. (This was done to facilitate Live Streaming, which seemed to work just fine before the update.). This is an important issue for me because I use an iPad Pro with an external keyboard as if it were a laptop, so portrait orientation doesn’t work for me at all. The website is not a good alternative, as it is more difficult to use. I contacted the support team, and was advised they are very sorry, but I cannot revert to the previous version of the app. It’s just too bad for me. They thank me for my understanding, which they do not have.

    Putting trust in people who may not actually know what they’re talking about. So I haven’t actually asked anything on here yet, but I have tried to answer a few of the questions for English myself since on studying a few languages I do know a fair bit about grammar and how to point out and explain things. What I’ve noticed immediately is others who claim to be native level may not actually know what they’re talking about or give accurate solutions. Yes, English can be hard, but the amount of errors that can be spotted in “native” level solutions makes me hesitant to ever ask anything in another language on here. Yes, English is my native language and there are things that I second guess myself on constantly (it doesn’t help that I’m dyslexic) but giving somebody just starting out a solution not only riddled with errors but also with WRONG information as to why it’s done that way can set them back YEARS in learning (I know that can sound hyperbolic, but it’s true in many cases) I’ve seen SO much of this littered in this app. I really don’t trust it, and the fact that I see so many people suggest using it is just disheartening.

    Posting ANYTHING in this costs money. You can answer questions and help all you want for free — and I do like to help people — but you cannot post any sort of question without paying money, regardless of your contributions. This was not made clear up front nor even when selecting any of several post types; instead, it let’s you type out what you want to ask or say and only when you click to post it does it tell you must pay. I realize that the companies that make these apps need to make money, of course, and so I would expect added value for money — prioritized questions, extra features or helpful templates, things like that. This app is very good at encouraging you to contribute your time and expertise to it while obfuscating that you won’t be able to ask for anything yourself until you cough up $$$. Again, I really enjoy helping people with editing and language but now knowing everyone paid this company for every question they asked while the help was from my own freely provided time and expertise. I feel used.
