  1. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Not as advertised.. I was under the impression that I could do a bunch of stuff for free, jokes on me I guess because I can’t even add anything without paying for it.

  2. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

“A FULLY FREE VERSION” IS A STRETCH… ER STRAIGHT UP LIE!. It’s “fully free” for 7 days then 50$ a year. I don’t care to pay for something once but a subscription for a cookbook that I add things to myself? No thanks!

  3. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Imports. 20 free then you’re limited to 3 a week and most of the features are locked behind Pro. It’s the same app as ReciMe.

  4. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Features gone. No longer able to scale recipes without a high subscription fee, this is a basic feature that is a simple formulate and doesn’t require a llm and ai.

  5. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Bait and Switch. They made a forced update that removed features and turned it into a subscription service. No there is no one time fee, despite this not being an app that in any way requires ongoing support. I wouldn’t mind if an update added paid content. I wouldn’t mind if the update was a one time purchase. But I don’t want to rent something as basic as a recipe app. Clippy wouldn’t do this. Clippy just wanted to help.

  6. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Paywalls free features down the line :(. Just as said, a perfectly good service that I would pay a one time price for, not 50$/yr.

  7. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Free?. Can NOT select the free version. I just got the app and was setting up my account and it will not let me select the FREE version. Deleting app.

  8. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

unloyal to original users. was so excited to find a free app. i had changed my recipes to show in us units and now the devs have reverted them to the metric system and i cant change it back to what i had before the paywall unless i pay for a subscription! i also had set some recipes to 1/2 a serving for one time cooking and cant put them back to a full serving unless i pay. they shouldve let original users get grandfathered in as a gift for helping them blow up

  9. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Why a fee. Downloaded this app because it was free a while ago. Had multiple issues for a while trying to save recipes in. Then all of a sudden we will lose all our recipes because they decided to start charging a fee to use this app.

  10. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Used to be good. I feel like I've been lied to, because it used to be completely free and then out of nowhere they made a Deglaze pro like what is even the point im just gonna use my Umami Chrome extension atp

  11. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Good App Ruined by Greed. I understand the need to make money so that all the AI implementation and servers are paid for, but when you are gonna charge an outrageous $48/year for a recipe app, that is so greedy after advertising it as free for everyone to hop on and get invested into your app. That is such an extremely deceptive tactic. Wish I knew that’s what your intentions were otherwise I would’ve picked a different recipe app from the start. The app is killed for that cost in my eyes when there are tons of other options out there that are cheaper and just as good such as Mela, Plum Recipes, Flavorish, etc. I wanted to support deglaze but there are better options for the money now that do the same thing with AI imports, Scaling Recipes, Family Sharing, Meal Prep, Grocery List, etc. Personally I’m not going to support a company that drives up the prices on people an insane amount once they get invested into their ecosystem. Lost my trust

  12. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

20 imports remaining. That’s what made me stop using. I didn’t mind the ads but once import restrictions came on, that’s when I dropped.

  13. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Update limits recipe imports. I tried many recipe manager apps and this one was by far my favorite. With the most recent update, the developer now limits how many recipes you can import. I have over 100 recipes so after the developer pulled a fast one it is going to be an absolute pain switching to an alternative.

  14. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Subscription Fatigue. I am so incredibly tired of finding an app I like and use just for them to implement a subscription service shortly thereafter. The whole reason I downloaded Deglaze was because this was the free alternative to a different cooking app I wanted. I can’t justify spending $50 a year for a cooking app. I’d rather use that money to buy physical cookbooks. Guess it’s time to start searching for a new app 🤷🏼‍♀️

  15. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Stupid subscriptions. I really really liked this app, but now it’s completely ruined for me. The entire appeal — the ONLY thing that set this apart from other identical apps — was that this one was free. And now it’s paid. I used to recommend this to everyone! I even got my mom to download it. But now I’m planning on moving all my info out of her and deleting my account. So stupid to ruin everything about this app that made it unique and valuable.

  16. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Now wants subscription pay to import. Was enjoying this app and suddenly it’s saying limited imports then have pay for subscriptions… getting sick of all these apps abusing and trying make money constantly so sick of it… in response to developer response still frustrated… complete bait and switch I spent so much time adding all my imports and ONLY REASON WHY I SELECTED THIS APP OR I NEVER WOULD HAVE STARTED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Waste of time.. then you implied you’d help people if they couldn’t afford it then just email us why you need to charge… another bait and switch

  17. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Was good while it lasted. The only reason I used this app was because of the free and unlimited recipe imports. That was your only competitive advantage against ReciMe, and now you’ve put it behind a paywall so there’s no reason to use this instead. 20 free recipe imports is hardly enough, and the only way that I could even consider continue using this app, is if it was 20 free imports per month, not 20 total. This is really disappointing considering I did a lot of word of mouth to friends and family, and had nothing but good things to say about this app because it did everything right. One of the simplest rules behind having a service succeed is to NEVER put free features behind a paywall. All it does is piss off your loyal client base and drive them away. What a shame.

  18. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Ruined a beautiful App with Greed. This app did everything I wanted. I loved it. I was even willing to pay a small fee if it was a onetime fee but you went crazy. Your pro subscription is INSANE PRICED. I had a whole catalogue of recipes and I just deleted the whole thing you made me so mad. Good luck with keeping people at one recipe a week. Screw you.

  19. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

of course now you have to charge. great app while it lasted. now you have to pay to import any recipes. you’re not the only app that does this so bye bye! deleting

  20. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Bait and Switch. To begin with, the app is good. It strikes a balance between simplicity and quality of the features. If you never used it before and the idea of paying $50 a year for your entire life (or until the app is discontinued) doesn’t sound too bad of a deal, I would recommend to give it a try. So why 1 star? Up until last few days the app was free and the majority of the features that are now marked as Pro were included already. Just 6 months ago the developer was advertising the app on Reddit with claims like “It’s 100% free - no subscriptions, purchase, limits”. And now when people got their recipes in, the model is switched and there is no way out. If you don’t need to import more than 1 recipe a week you can still have access to your collection for free, but it is now turned into a glorified notes storage. Ironically you can’t even add notes as you cook with it to your own recipes (only Pro has this feature now). So how is it different from keeping your recipes in note taking app with basic tagging support, or in a PDF collection? I don’t think business practices like this should be rewarded. Building reputation and then adding paid tier for new optional features makes total sense, but getting customer’s data and commitment first and then making the app useless without subscription does not.

  21. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Disappointed about the loss of features. I’d been recommending this app to everyone. Really enjoyed being able to import my recipes etc. but with the loss of import features and new pro plan I don’t know if I will continue to use it. Can’t you get revenue from ads instead of subscriptions? So sick of having to subscribe/upgrade to use every single app.

  22. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Went Corporate. Used to be amazing, used this app all the time and told family and friends about. Now you can only saved 20 recipes before you have to pay. Do not download, find another app that’s free.

  23. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

The monetization starts. I pretty much only use the app to import and save recipes from TikTok. Deglaze pro has launched and with it I just receive a banner saying I only have 20 free imports left before I’ll be forced to pay for pro to use the most helpful feature of the app. I understand apps take money to run, but locking imports behind the (steep) paywall of $45 per year is rough, and also one free import per week if you don’t upgrade is laughable. Feels like the app owners could’ve found a sweet spot to monetize while still not screwing over free users, but they went straight to “maximize profits” mode

  24. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Not too happy. The app advertised as the ingredients instructions would be listed right from Facebook or TikTok. I am not seeing that being reflected

  25. ★★★★ads disrupt the experience

Nope. Not good.. Confusing interface, many ads, uninspired, annoying.

  26. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

A mess. “Following” is cluttered with sources in which I have no interest. No obvious way for deleting them. No dietary preference options. Don’t want to see dead animals in my collection.

  27. ★★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Doesn’t do what it says. I’ve tried to do recipes that are in the video or clearly labeled in pics or comments and it doesn’t work. Also on free mode it will count down your recipes even if it fails as an app to save them. Don’t waste your time or money until this app is more refined

  28. ★★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

It was all great until the update. When I first got the app I loved how much it could do especially with the language support and scaling for a lot of my non-English recipes. The new update decided to make scaling for members only, which is a basic function that other recipe apps still have for free! $50 annual fee is way expensive than most recipe apps around and I can see how the future of this app will be and I think it’s time to switch to others :((

  29. ★★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Why is there a forced membership???. This app was great but now you have to pay a subscription to upload stuff nah

  30. ★★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Got greedy, gatekeeping basic functionality. I’m all for people making a living with an app, but this latest move is a bridge too far. The core functionality of this app is saving recipes you find across the web. Now that the devs want more money they are gatekeeping that functionality behind a recurring paywall subscription, outside of three saves a week. Save your money, go elsewhere, this app is dead.
