when I went to do the next one it immediately told me I needed a subscription to continue. It only taught me a few basic words that I'm pretty sure everyone knows. When it said in app purchases I thought it meant ad free or super advanced stuff not the entire thing

I thought that I can use this app for free, but I ended up paying because without subscription, it let me do the same thing over and over again and no improve. 3 stars are the rate from overall my experience with this app.

I shouldn't have to pay to learn after a single lesson just to prove that I'm willing to learn/stick to a program. And even after selecting "I know basic phrases", it still started me off with hello and goodbye. They claim to use real human voices as well but it sounded just as robotic as any well rounded AI voice.

They say they offer a free week but they don't even do that, they stop you from being able to use the speak (voice) feature after one lesson. Then you have to upgrade to an even higher subscription.

Based off from the adds I've been seeing online, I was not expecting it to be monetized so heavily. There's no reason to have everything be locked behind a paywall.

The most shady side of this app is intentionally misleading instructions regarding the subscription cancellation process. It seems it's not possible to do it in the app itself, only via Google Play. "The cancellation process depends on the payment method you used.

I have subscribed for 1 year, but after that I accidentally canceled the sub, requested a refund for 1 year sub. but Google play doesn't support this type of refund.. I subscribed a second time, so I spent money twice for a 1-year subscription.

No option within the EWA app to manage subscription. Only get automated/bot responses from EWA that they need to direct my request over to the outside billing service, Paddle, that handles payment.

If you purchased through EWA directly, you need to search your email for "Paddle" or "EWA", open the purchase email, click "Manage Subscription", and then cancel auto-renewal. This process should be much simpler and clearer for users.

Sometimes there are long delays 'marking' you, others it marks you ask wrong and then correct when you then repeat it exactly the same

When using this to translate books it has taken tons of my time to clear the last result with the tiny x. I've been using SpanishDict for over ten years and it's killing me man. Double ads at the top, bottom and their ad to pay for premium popping up randomly makes this a pretty hard app to stay focused on learning with.

I used to use this app multiple times a day, but since they have increased the number of ads so much, I almost never use it and hardly recommend it such a pity!

They've just added a weird add system where an add will just pop up in the middle of a vocab quiz with no warning or way to close out of it, completely interrupting the quiz and forcing you to restart

But it has ads that abruptly and loudly play music, and doesn't seem to have any way to prevent that.

I love the app, but the ads auto playing their loud audio is awful. It went off in a library today while I was looking something up, with my phone on silent. I can find an app with similar functionality that won’t do stupid things like that.

In my experience, there is a greater than 50% chance that the app will hang on a loading screen when you search a word. Ads blast at full volume and pause my music.

I have paid for many of these language apps( this one seems far superior), because it requires you to speak. You are building language.

I have learned more by speaking along with the prompts and examples than any other app. Yes, there are apps which help with memorising hiragana and katakana but this app is the best to get you speaking.

Originally, I wasn’t sure how much this app would work considering I have so many others, but the ability to have active communication or conversations with people whether they are pre-recorded or not definitely helps build confidence and help me use this in everyday life

Unlike Duolingo, Duolingo just makes you say words but not this app. Teuida literally gives me life scenarios. It talks to me and it's awesome

I love this app so much because it helped me learn Korean really fast honestly better than Duolingo first for Duolingo. It told me how to order at a café first I need to learn hello thank you yes and no and for teuida immediately told me how to say hello thank you yes and no this app is amazing

the emphasis on speaking really helps to ground things.

This version has far too many ridiculous bells and whistles and incessantly self advertises. The energy system stymies learning by halting your progress to manipulate you into paying money.

This is a great immersive app especially for more common languages... For the bigger ones i have tried it has been most useful, with a solid plan for introducing new concepts and vocabulary that makes one feel comfortable with the basics.

You get no stories, no Ai calls while in higher tiers, the word learning section is broken and shows the same words all the time! Not worth it if learning Russian as it lacks features arhat other languages like English or Italian has.

How is this an app that teaches languages but pronounces the words wrong. It's not just one word. It's MULTIPLE words.

I've been using this app for years and it's still my primary language learning tool. I'm going slowly with my target language but feel confident that when I do finally move to my intended country I will have a strong start

I have tried to learn languages my whole life and this is the first time it has worked. I have been studying German for one year. At 8 months I was already taking meetings in German at work. Now I have 2-3 meetings a week in German and it has opened a ton of doors in my career.

cannot believe I have even gotten this far in Spanish, this has to be the only application that has helped me actually learn without making me feel like I've gotten no where, all of the extra practicing options help so much whenever I really need to work on something, the podcasts and the ability to talk to a AI in real time to really get that learning down
