Before a purchase or a move, the question is where the things already chosen will go. Their dimensions, the doors and the clear walkways are what settle it. Being able to move furniture virtually is valuable in itself, even without a realistic image of the room.
This app has literally saved my back! Every time we rearrange our living room, we can do it virtually first before lifting anything. We have everything saved and just drag things around. Really easy to use and so helpful. Can’t live without it.
How this could work
Start with a diagram of one room and rectangles matching the furniture dimensions. Save several layouts, show the distances between items, and keep the original dimensions available for checking. Automatic measurement can fill in a draft that the person then refines by hand.
What to test first
Take a familiar room and an item the person is about to buy. Can they check the placement, accounting for how the doors open and where people walk? If the purchase turns on a few centimeters, those dimensions have to be verified in the space before the decision is made.
