Faceplay positions itself as a face swap and AI avatar app, but output quality is poor: faces frequently do not align, images warp, and support for dark skin tones is nearly absent. Several reviewers noted quality degradation after updates.

What people use it for

Light-skinned users who want a quick themed look for entertainment.

What reviews praise

Some users rate face alignment accuracy highly in the basic mode and enjoy the variety of templates: one reviewer wrote that in 30 seconds the face matched perfectly.
The gender swap mode is seen as an entertaining feature.

What reviews complain about

Results for dark skin are catastrophic: the app either lightens the face beyond recognition or refuses to process the photo at all.
Faces blur and distort on overlay, glasses disappear, and images do not align when using multiple photos.
