An editorial reading of the saved reviews
Oilist paints over a photo in oil in real time: while the app runs, the user tweaks brush, style, and color parameters and watches the painting emerge. The controls are intuitive, and the high-resolution export is suitable for printing. Recent updates have slightly slowed rendering on older devices.

What people use it for
Artists and photographers who enjoy a controlled creative process rather than a one-shot filter.
What reviews praise
A live painting process with instant response to parameter changes, and an infinite number of unique results from a single photo.
What reviews complain about
Rendering has slowed noticeably on older devices, and white patches sometimes appear on unpainted areas.
