Tidal offers the best audio quality in the category and a wider catalog than most competitors, but offline downloads are unreliable, search requires exact spelling, and aggressive rating prompts annoy even loyal users.

What people use it for
Audiophiles and music fans willing to pay for sound quality
What reviews praise
Audio quality is noticeably better than Spotify, especially on good hardware.
What reviews complain about
Offline mode is unstable: downloaded playlists are sometimes unavailable when there is no network.
What users experience
2 excerpts from the breakdown. These are individual cases, not a verdict on all users.
I broke up with Spotify and had a rebound with Tidal. I had high hopes, and have tried to stick with it, but the offline/download functionality just sucks. I have a long commute without cell service and need to reliably download music. Goodbye Tidal
Tidal please get it together. Why do songs go dim on playlists with the note saying it can't be played in my area? (A US band being played in the US??) Quality control is lacking
