  1. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

Not free. I searched for a free app. This one makes you give a credit card to get a free trial for one week. So it isn’t free. It should not pop up as a free app if it isn’t actually free.

  2. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

Tricky. I didn’t want it, but didn’t push the right button and it charged me. It said try for fee and automatically signed me up. I use it once and decide not to get it!!!!!!

  3. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

Requires subscription. Literally the first thing they ask for is your money and you can’t use it without it starting a free trial they hope you’ll forget about

  4. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

Trash!!. I’m disappointed in the fact that I can identify bugs or bites only if I pay for it! Where and what happened to the opportunity of seeing things firsthand testing them out and then paying for monthly services for something you might not even want or ever use again, and don’t give me that seven day trial sign up and then cancel bs because we all know there are so many hidden clauses where you’re gonna pull out extra money that you don’t deserve..

  5. ★★★★wrong or inconsistent identification results

The app is wrong about 50% of the time. I take macro photographs of insects and have a decent amount of entomology experience. This app is pretty much useless to me due to its high rate of misidentification. For me, it’s up around 50%. These aren’t obscure insects either, in may cases they are native Wyoming species. I run into the same problem with identifications from around the world on iNaturalist. The app is wrong about 50% of the time on those, too. I see A LOT of rave reviews about how accurate this is. It makes me wonder how other reviewers are so certain it’s accurate. My guess is that the insect looks something like the Picture Insect photo, and therefore, it must be accurate. I’m not sure, but I suspect this app takes the entered photo and compares it to other photos and once it finds something similar, it identifies it. There doesn’t seem to be any consideration about where the insect was located, the habitat, its posture, etc. I had one his morning where it misidentified a transverse ladybug for a seven spotted ladybug. I could be mistaken, but when I try to correct a misidentification, it only corrects it on my ID. I don’t think it lets the developers know that the app is wrong. If I don’t trust the app, it doesn’t do me any good. There are much better resources available online.

  6. ★★★★other

Can’t find. Can’t find what the bug is

  7. ★★★★other

I can’t detect any insects.. Most of the time when I use this app, it just shows random insects and not the real thing.

  8. ★★★★wrong or inconsistent identification results

Inaccurate. I applied a test to the app and it failed ok the very first insect. It confused a beetle with an eastern termite. You are better off studying and learning your local insects or you’ll windup getting the wrong pesticides

  9. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

Greedy. I shouldn’t have to pay a MONTHLY subscription for knowledge. It should have been a one time purchase of the app. Never using I’ll use google since they at least care.

  10. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

Phone apps are too expensive. If it was 40 once that would be fine but mobile app developers do the subscription model. As a software developer I can tell you that the app is nice and works but way too expensive

  11. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

Stupid app!. This stupid app gave me a free trial and was not supposed to charge me for a subscription! And then come to find out they took $39.99 out of my account and now I don’t even have money to buy what I need. Why would I pay $40 for something when I can look up the info on google. Stupid!! I need my money back. Also there’s no way to contact them that I have found so I can’t get my money back. So annoyed rn.

  12. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

Extremely misleading. This is not a free app. It is a free one week trial.. Just another fake “free app”.

  13. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

Scam. The app is a scam you need to pay 40 bucks just to take a picture of a bug bite and see what it is

  14. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

terrible. of course ANOTHER stupid app where you have to pay before you do anything. i'm not paying for a app that i don't even know actually works. bot reviews, bot ratings

  15. ★★★★wrong or inconsistent identification results

Inaccurate. If I could post the photos I’ve taken and then the results I’ve gotten you would understand why I give it 1-star. I’ve taken photos of the same insect from different angles and get completely different results each time.

  16. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

Free trial is misleading!. I was trying to go for a free trial as your app suggested and selected it and I was going to pay the $2.99 month thereafter. But which it automatically charged my card for $ 39.95 indicating that that would be a per month charge! Ridiculous! And the reason I got the app it doesn’t even do anything to help me out with identifying pests in my home! This is for people who I guess love to learn about insects. But it was not described like that on the description. I was also supposed to get a seven day free trial before my card would be charged and it charged me immediately. I want a refund of the total $39.95 charged to my card. I will never be using this app.

  17. ★★★★wrong or inconsistent identification results

Not even close!. This ap said it is a fruit fly. I wish it was!The picture I researched and found it to be the most disgusting bug I’ve ever dealt with. It invaded my Body the female laid eggs in me it’s a CORPS FLY. It will go done six feet when it smells a corpse they like to eat rotting flesh make huge infected spots and are very hard to irradiate.

  18. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

Not a free app. Not a free trial. You have to authorize $39.99 payment to try it out.

  19. ★★★★wrong or inconsistent identification results

Not worth a hoot. I submitted three pictures of the same insect and received thee different identifications. Not really helpful.

  20. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

Charged immediately for “free” trial. I signed up for the 7-day free trial and was charged $17.99. Don’t try it if you’re actually expecting a free trial. You’ve been warned!

  21. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

Trash. Couldn’t use it cause it requires money and subscription. Not a free app and scammy.. Trash. Couldn’t use it cause it requires money and subscription. Not a free app and scammy.

  22. ★★★★other

No. I will not subscribe stop asking

  23. ★★★★other

Picture insect: bug idenifer. ONLY 2 pictures a day like what if i see three so horrible wouldn’t recommend

  24. ★★★★wrong or inconsistent identification results

Wrong identification. I found a tiny bug yesterday while cleaning and used this app to identify it. The app identified the insect as a bed bug. For the past 24hrs I’ve been panicking and cleaning my whole place from top to bottom. I contacted my pest control specialist today and came to find out it’s NOT a bed bug. Way to induce panic!! 🤬

  25. ★★★★other

Complete joke. I took 4 or 5 very clear photos of flying ants and not once were they found as flying ants… 2 of the results weren’t even insects with wings! Smh…

  26. ★★★★other

this app doesn’t have enough types of butterflies or moths. I found a bunch of fuzzy moth caterpillars in my backyard. I got this app to identify them but it has been no help since it doesn’t have enough varieties of native species. euchaetes zella was the caterpillar I found, with no help from this app. after days of research i found it. this app should have more information about more diverse lepidoptera.

  27. ★★★★wrong or inconsistent identification results

Only 50/50 chance. This app only gets it right half the time

  28. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

Useless and Sneaky. I signed up for a free trial just to try this app. this app is super useless. I have taken various pictures of bugs on a napkin, and the app will tell me there’s no bug in the picture. You would have to retake the picture a billion times and then it will suggest the wrong bug. Unfortunately, without a reminder or anything, I’m stuck with a year subscription of this terrible app. You literally have to go to your phone settings to turn off the membership. Nowhere on the app does it tell you that, very sneaky.

  29. ★★★★other

How do I turn off auto renewal??!?!?. So not cool that I can’t find an auto renewal off button? I am giving you zero stars until you fix this.

  30. ★★★★subscription trap and misleading free label

AVOID! Charges annual subscription. Bunch of fake reviews, app is trash google image search is more effective and does not charge you for an annual subscription without your approval.
