  1. ★★★★accuracy regression after update

AI made it garbage. It used to identify bugs fairly accurately, at least enough to get you started on the right track for manual research. They swapped to an AI model and now it is completely useless. Before updating the app: “moisture ant or possibly sugar ant.” After updating the app: “that’s an ant” “it’s a spider” Absolutely useless.

  2. ★★★★ads and pop-ups

Disappointing. Uploaded a picture of a caterpillar I had not seen before. The App correctly identified it as a caterpillar and then showed me an add. It got one star because lower was not an option.

  3. ★★★★identification accuracy

Wrong & annoying. I tried to identify a bug (I think it’s a type of moth), that I’d never seen before, and the first photo I used, the app said it was a stick insect. It is not. I used a different photo and and the app said it was a dried twig. It not. It can fly. Also, I realize I’m using the free version, but the advertising videos that you’re forced to watch before you get the results of your search are awful!

  4. ★★★★ads and pop-ups

Pushing adds. I downloaded it. After I took a picture and after it’s done scanning, an add asked me to download a new QR scanner. 2nd time, after it’s done scanning, another app asked me to download!

  5. ★★★★ads and pop-ups

Terrible Ad Bait. Immediately after scanning it pops up an ad so fast you can’t read any of the information. No way to get rid of the ad, so this is a useless app.

  6. ★★★★accuracy regression after update

What happened?. This app used to be quite specific. Lately though it has been terrible. It will scan a butterfly and after 60+ seconds it will identify it as a “butterfly “.

  7. ★★★★identification accuracy

Not even close. My photo is of some kind of skimmer and your app told me it was a butterfly… Way off

  8. ★★★★identification accuracy

1 out of 10. 1 time out of 10 identifies but most of the time it says doesn’t know

  9. ★★★★other

Not working. My app would just stop working even though none of my other apps wore acting up just this app

  10. ★★★★ads and pop-ups

So bad. So guys, I tried it and it would go to an add with NO x out

  11. ★★★★full photo library access required

I picked limited access. I picked limited access to pictures and now you’re telling me to enable pictures?? why can’t you just take the two pictures I picked? I do not want you to have access to my 3000 pictures. Sorry no can-do.

  12. ★★★★full photo library access required

Crappy can’t access photo gallery. I have allowed access to selected photos in the settings, but the app keeps saying access not allowed. I suspect it wants me to select Full Access. Not going to happen

  13. ★★★★identification accuracy

Wrong every time. Just submitted a picture of a small spider. The first diagnosis was that it was a cricket. The second diagnosis was that it was a carpenter ant. Don’t waste your money or your time.

  14. ★★★★identification accuracy

Don’t waste your time. This app will waste your time. I’ve ensured all my photos meet the recommended parameters (one insect, sharpened image, no blurr, full insect is in frame, full daylight, etc.) nonetheless, I have yet to see this app correctly identify a single specimen. This may sound like a joke, but it’s not: this app can’t tell the difference between a wood tick and a black ant. Nor can it differentiate a carpet beetle from a honey bee. Not to mention you have to watch an ad for each picture you submit. I never write app reviews, but I feel in this case it would be a disservice not to. Don’t be like me, don’t download this app, don’t waste your time.

  15. ★★★★identification accuracy

Can't ID a spider as a spider. Nice clear pic of a spider was identified as a dragon fly. Second clear photo of same spider was identified as a butterfly. Need I say more?

  16. ★★★★identification accuracy

0 for 3. Tried to identify a caterpillar in my shrubs in Florida and it came up with a wasp, a beetle and a caterpillar that had no similar colors or markings.

  17. ★★★★identification accuracy

Ants…. I took multiple pictures of ants I couldn’t Identify and it thought they were eastern tent caterpillar moths or asian lady beetles. The ants were black, slim, and long.

  18. ★★★★ads and pop-ups

Pop Ups. You will get pop ups galore! I believe the app’s primary purpose is to get you to download other apps NOT identify insects.

  19. ★★★★full photo library access required

App doesn’t work with Photo Limits. This app requires full access to your photos. It should support limited access like all of my other apps.

  20. ★★★★identification accuracy

Same bug, 4 different identifications. Trying to figure out if we have bees or wasps invading our home. Took a picture 4 times and results were some sort of moth, some sort of mosquito, some sort of beetle, and a bald hornet. Still don’t know what’s invading our home.

  21. ★★★★identification accuracy

Your guess is better than this app. Took pic of black spider and it identified as n American wheel bug and another pic of a daddy long legs spider and it identified as a mosquito. Both pics were close ups

  22. ★★★★full photo library access required

Privacy. Insists on having full access to my photos.

  23. ★★★★full photo library access required

Spyware. Will not work unless i grant access to my entire photo library. Tries to install tiktok. I uninstalled this junk quick

  24. ★★★★ads and pop-ups

Scam app. Does not work asks you to download different unrelated apps

  25. ★★★★identification accuracy

Totally useless. Do not waste your time. This is total garbage. It is grossly inaccurate and it’s just plain horrible. It told me that a red ant is a moth and a long-legged spider is a moth. It also told me that a honeybee is a moth.

  26. ★★★★identification accuracy

Very bad. Not accurate all. Amongst other things it wrongly identified a June bug as a honey bee. There is absolutely no similarity between these two insects.

  27. ★★★★identification accuracy

😒. I used this on a bug two different photos and they both said different things which I looked it up and it wasn’t accurate at ALL a whole different color I showed a tiny brown bug and it told me mine was a moth and I put up another photo and it said it was a type of ladybug which was WHITE. wouldn’t recommend this app.

  28. ★★★★other

Literally just doesn’t work-. Don’t waste your time on this idiotic app

  29. ★★★★other

Didn’t agree to subscribion. Tricked me into thinking it could tell me what kind of bee is nesting on my front porch under the cushion of the chair, I was a foot away and it still didn’t know, thanks for wasting my time and money

  30. ★★★★identification accuracy

Laughable. Took a clear picture of a particular spider. Submitted several different angles. App was not even close in properly identifying insect. Never once did it even recognize it was indeed a spider. Awful.
