  1. ★★★★subscription trap

Takes your info before telling you how much it costs. Also it's an annual charge so be prepared to pay for a whole year at once before getting to try it.

  2. ★★★★ai photo id accuracy

What am I missing?. I tried to log my first bird, a mountain chickadee, and it identified it as a crow at first. Also I find it confusing that you give what % likely it is. It only gave me 12% likely for a second photo I took but other apps just accurately identified the bird.

  3. ★★★★subscription trap

Not my thing. Beware! It’s essentially a knockoff of a seriously scientific app that is available at no cost. This app will take and take your money and so far despite several attempts, I’m finding it impossible to cancel.

  4. ★★★★ai photo id accuracy

Can’t identify pictures. Have to have location on, and there’s no option to identify a bird that isn’t at my physical location.

  5. ★★★★technical bugs and crashes

Stuck in challenge screen. This app is buggy. Doesn’t do anything but offer the challenge.

  6. ★★★★subscription trap

If you want a Facebook-like birding experience…. Disappointed that you have to create an account and agree to a subscription to even SEE the app and what it may or may not do. If you want actual bird maps and tracking your list for free, use Merlin and eBird. If you’re looking to socialize, give away your location and personal information, and sort-of bird, then this app is for you.

  7. ★★★★subscription trap

7 Day free trial. Wanted to try the app and was super excited about it, I’ll update my receive once I do. I just found it super dishonest that Birda offers a “7 Day free trial.” And immediately removes $20.56 from your account. Is this included towards my yearly if so the yearly isn’t $30 it’s $50? Since when is a “Free Trial.” Not free ? Questions that require answers.

  8. ★★★★subscription trap

Skip, not free. Not free in any capacity. Join me in 1 star rating apps that deceives you into believing it’s free and then locking every feature behind a paywall

  9. ★★★★subscription trap

Beware. They just want your money. You're told you'll be notified before the free trial ends, but no such notification ever comes. Instead, you're automatically charged and pushed into an annual plan, clearly relying on you forgetting. Even after canceling immediately, the charge for the full year remains. This is a predatory tactic designed to take your money regardless of the app's actual quality.

  10. ★★★★ai photo id accuracy

Waste of time. Nearly every picture you take or upload comes back with an error saying their AI cant figure out what bird it is, also impeccable yall care about “screen times” and being online yet youre using AI technology that is fueled by huge data centers burning water that can never be reused…interesting.

  11. ★★★★subscription trap

Only free trial. So sick of these apps using ads that make them seem free. Don’t bother downloading- 7 day free trial only

  12. ★★★★subscription trap

Not free. Says play for free but 2.99 a month but charges $35

  13. ★★★★subscription trap

Not free as advertised. Advertised as free and charges $36/year

  14. ★★★★subscription trap

Nagware?. I just downloaded it to my iPhone and was basically forced to sign up for a 7 day free trial. That’s really annoying. I read that’s for Birda+ but should that be an option for users to consider later?

  15. ★★★★subscription trap

"free" trial instantly charged my card for $44.47. Rip off! The app seems cool enough but that trial instantly charging me is BS

  16. ★★★★subscription trap

Nope. Be careful! They offer you a 7 day free trial but charge you $39 regardless.

  17. ★★★★subscription trap

Boooo. Paywall, don’t download. Get Merlin.

  18. ★★★★subscription trap

Not as good as eBird or INaturalist. This app has a bad interface, poor ID tools, and is redundant. Also- the fact that there is a Birda+ paid option is upsetting. Citizen science and bird watching should NOT be a pay to play system. Overall, this app does absolutely nothing that INaturalist doesn’t do, and makes you pay for full features, which are free on iNat.

  19. ★★★★other

I don’t like my name being broadcast to everyone. I would appreciate the app more if it allowed us to display a username instead of my full name.

  20. ★★★★technical bugs and crashes

Bird Id seems to fail on iOS 26. Used to be able to use photos to identify bird.

  21. ★★★★subscription trap

Misrepresentation. This App is NOT free!!! Liars!!!

  22. ★★★★technical bugs and crashes

I WISH I COULD GIVE THIS APP 0 STARS!!!!!!. First this app made my account password to be my login password to my iPad and it wouldn’t even let me select any pictures!Who ever made this app shame on you!

  23. ★★★★species database and integration gaps

Not as advertised. The whole reason I was excited about the app was the call identification shown in the video, when I bought the app however, that particular item is faded out and marked “coming soon”.

  24. ★★★★subscription trap

Apps are made to cash in. Was wondering how this app would work, but like many apps, before you have a good feel it charges you. The seven days creeps up in our busy life. Tired of this. Now on principle will not use though got suckered into paying for a year.

  25. ★★★★other

Was awesome until…. They now require full access to your photo library. Not okay! Also, they don’t seem very responsive to the super users on the platform who have been having a lot of issues with people stealing photos lately.

  26. ★★★★other

Unbelievably invasive. I was really excited about this app until discovering that it requires you to give FULL ACCESS TO YOUR ENTIRE CAMERA ROLL in order to upload a photo of a bird. There’s absolutely no reason it can’t be limited to the photos you intend to upload to the app. Disgusting, invasive practices. Ruined any desire I had to use what could’ve been a really cool app.

  27. ★★★★other

Poor App Experience. In setting up app I granted access to only select photos from my photo album but it won’t allow me to do anything without giving full access to my camera and photo albums. Deleting and finding an app that works.

  28. ★★★★subscription trap

Expensive. I’m NOT paying $36 to use a bird identifying app/social/game and give them my data and photos, too. Immediately deleting. I’ll stick with Merlin and eBird.

  29. ★★★★subscription trap

Have to pay to use. You have to pay for some basic app that’s just some fancy organizer. No sound ID. App is terrible to navigate. And looks like it was made by a 2 year old child.

  30. ★★★★other

AI Voiceover on ads. Maybe you’d flop less if you didn’t use AI, lazy bones
