Access denied after years of access. The Jesus calling app reflects a company who has become greedy and is forgetting why the book was originally written. Years ago, I paid a higher amount to gain full access to the app. Now I am asked to pay a monthly fee for that same access. Unacceptable, Harper Collins and Sarah Young! My recommendation is to go buy the book and Skip this app!

Don’t buy this app. Even when you pay them you own nothing and they can’t be bothered to help you get their app working

Fraud. I initially paid for a book and read it until the app came out and have used the app for years and now you have gotten gteedy now that she has passed away and locked me out. Is that a Christian thing to do. I will not pay for it anymore So disappointing

The App is not Supported. I have “Jesus Calling” and “Jesus Today” in book form, and love them. I purchased “Jesus Calling” on my phone so I would have the devotions with me when I travel. This worked great for years until the app makers decided to make “Jesus Calling” a monthly subscription. If you had already purchased “Jesus Calling,” it was still supposed to work. When they make updates it sometimes locks early supporters out of the content. I look at this as I purchased a book, and now they want me to repurchase it every month. Support helped me at first when I was locked out, but now they don’t respond. This would be disappointing from any company, but to have a Christian devotional behave this way is really sad.

$$$$. Why does this app charge a monthly subscription now? I already paid for the book & a one time app fee many years ago. Now I can’t access what I paid for. Greed over Jesus. So sad.

I no longer have Legacy access to Jesus Listens with audio, Jesus Always and Jesus Today. 6 months ago due to system issues at Harper I lost Legacy access to Jesus Listens with audio, Jesus Always and Jesus Today. I am only able to access Jesus Calling. I sent an E Mail to the Harper team who sent me instruction on how to restore access, I followed the instructions but it did not restore access. I contacted them again by E Mail and received a response that it was a problem on their end and it asked that I be patient. So I waited a month, still no access. I have contacted them numerous times but have not received any response. I have purchased over 350 Jesus Calling Devotionals over the years to give to friends, family and to people who are receiving treatments for cancer at the hospital where I have been receiving treatments. Based on what it’s mostly Legacy accounts that have lost access . It doesn’t say much for the integrity of Harper.

I bought this app and now I have to subscribe to it?. I hate to rate one of my favorite apps as a 1, but I’m upset that I purchased this app several years ago and now when I want to start re-reading it this year I have to subscribe to it? I always hoped they would expand it so that I could purchase Sarah’s other devotional inside the app, but I don’t want to commit to an ongoing subscription. This ruins it for me and now I can’t do my devotional.

Was my GO TO for 15 years….😔. It used to this everyday for years. And when I became disabled in a fixed income I could no longer afford it.

Great when it works, but often kicks me out. For some reason, every few weeks, the system kicks me out and forgets my purchase and all my saved bookmarks. It takes forever to figure out how to log back in, but my bookmarks are gone. Why does this keep making me start all over? I’ve already paid my dues on multiple different platforms.

Charging me again for the app I already purchased. I purchased the app previously. Now it is locked and won’t let me use it without paying again. Ups like the lock lifted. At a minimum they should refund my original Purchase.

Used it for years before they went big biz. I paid $9.99 for this app how many years ago. And now I am not allowed to use it unless I subscribe. That is not OK.

Feeling betrayed. This app is nothing more than the book in a mobile version. The content doesn't change year to year. So how in the world do they justify moving to a subscription model?! When you buy a book you purchase it ONE TIME. The same should hold for this. I was fine with making a one time purchase for the app WHICH I DID but then they changed and that money apparently went for nothing now. You cannot serve two masters and sadly it seems that they have chosen money for their master.

Legacy User. Every time I get a new phone, I’m locked out of the daily devotionals I once purchased before they started a subscription service. I’ve reached out on the email support with no response back from Harper Collin’s. They’ve helped me before but it keeps happening each time I get a new device. They haven’t gotten back to me after multiple attempts to reach them. So essentially I can’t access content I’ve purchased from them.

This is sad. I purchased this app around 2013 because I kept giving my hard copies of Jesus Calling away. Everything was fine until a little over a year ago. It became impossible to access the content I had paid for and it was clear that app management is interested solely in people who are paying a monthly fee. This is a travesty. I paid a reasonable amount for an online book several years ago that I should still be able to access. I absolutely loved this devotional and not only gave out several copies but also gifted the app when I was able to do so. Sadly this devotional has turned into a cash cow for money hungry people.

Commercialization of Faith. How dare you guys exploit scripture for profit!! Gating it behind a subscription model, no thanks! I’ll just use my hard copy book instead! Everyone else, please consider buying the book or using ChatGPT which has turned out to be a wonderful free daily devotional!

Changed. Now have to pay.

Dislike the new format. I paid 14.99 for the app years ago. It is disappointing and I would say fraudulent that JC locks all the days down. I understand everything is a money grab for monthly subscription payments. If this were a table Jesus would flip it.

Upset. I purchased this devotional Disney Apple Store but now you want me to repurchase it again this isn’t right.

Don’t Update. I purchased the Jesus Calling Devotional over 10 years ago. I logged in today 9/19/25 and now I have to pay for a subscription to get past January 7th. Before I updated the app last night I had access to the full year of devotionals. I’m incredibly disappointed with the developers for attempting to make me pay for a devotional I’ve had over a decade.

Already paid for this. I had to purchase this from Apple Pay to down load and now it’s locked out and wants me to purchase a monthly payment. What is going on

App is not working. The app has not worked for months. I loved listening to this every day, but I have not been able to do it in a long time.

Piece of junk. I have bought and paid for Jesus Calling and used it on my old phone for over 7 years. I have a new phone and they want me to pay for it again. I am moving on. I should be able to upload it from the cloud like I do all other apps I paid for on my old phone.

Jesus Calling. I purchased this and have used it for a few years. Updated to a new IPhone and now it is wanting me to subscribe. SMH!

You charge now for what was included. I mentioned this to you before that you charge people what was free. Had the app for years and you keep wanting to charge.

Love Jesus and my little book but not this app. I’ve had my little Jesus Calling book from when it very first came out and am enjoying looking at my readings every day. I really wanted to do this online but sadly this 57 year-old woman cannot figure out your website, Sara Young. I think you’re an incredible woman and I hope you can see this message. I am now rediscovering Jesus in my life and I’m so happy to have him every day and these daily readings mean the world to me and I’m so disappointed that I can’t do this. I don’t want to contact customer service but I would love to tell you that your book means everything to me, and I’m glad that it is gotten so popular and hope it helps as many people as it has helped me

Too expensive. I previously paid one time fee now the app does not let me read the daily devotionals unless I pay a monthly subscription. This is too expensive and there are plenty of other good and free resources to use

Doesn’t work. Used to love this app and use it almost daily. Now it takes me at least 5 minutes to figure out how to navigate to the content I’ve already purchased, with initial screens only showing padlocked content. So frustrating given that I’ve purchased this book in hard copy and given it away multiple times, but now it seems I’d need to subscribe to make it run smoothly again.
