  1. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Update is trash. Been using it for years. It was absolutely phenomenal until the last update. All of my years of data are gone. My workouts are gone. And now everything requires money. I can’t even save a weeks worth of workouts without paying anymore. Time to find a new app.

  2. ★★★★crashes, freezes and errors

I watch app stopped syncing with phone.. Last update hosed the syncing between a watch and iPhone. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app on the watch and it won’t accept my account password. Buggy software.

  3. ★★★★crashes, freezes and errors

Slow updates, buggy as ***. I’ve been a strong user since ~2018. I like it, I really do. However there are *so* many bugs I run into *every single workout*. And it is infuriating to see that instead of fixing these bugs or improving the existing flow, y’all instead push an update to add …widgets!? The Apple Watch <-> iPhone sync engine is *terrible*. There’s literally no way y’all don’t know about this cause I have issues with it every single workout. I’ll mark a set as done on my phone then my watch won’t see it so I do it there, then I go back to my phone and I’ve lost like 5 sets and have to re-enter them. My patience is wearing so thin. I’ve even sent multiple emails to the developers, including one that was being nothing but positive and understanding. However it’s been 3+ months since then and I have seen no (noticeable) improvements and I’m honestly not convinced the developers even care about this stuff? I really want to keep using Strong but y’all are making it harder and harder for me to stay and not move to a competitor. And honestly the only reason I haven’t is cause there is overhead in switching. Surely y’all care about craft and details more than this.

  4. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

It stinks now. It used to sync well with my watch. Not anymore. Almost useless.

  5. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Worthless on watch. I wouldn’t recommend anyone try using the watch app in tandem with the phone app, it never works. Yes, I have reset my stuff, multiple times. Consistently freezes and un-syncs. Don’t bother.

  6. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Mediocre UI. UI is mediocre. Only 3 free templates and a $99 lifetime license. Get a $1 notebook and a box of pens. Your iPhone already has a timer. App is free otherwise to see the prebuilt templates.

  7. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Disappointed, buggy. Subscribed to PRO for multiple years. App is fairly straightforward but ultimately doesn’t offer much. Essentially it allows you to build workouts into templates using their library of exercises (templates are limited to 3 unless you sign up for PRO). Past that, it tallies metrics (how much you’ve completed of your workout, what that ends up being in pounds, running tally of total workouts). Syncs with Apple Watch with varying degrees of success. Ultimately cancelled membership and deleted app for two reasons: -There are better apps that offer better data tracking and customization for free. Ultimately the limitations of Strong and its ability to show what it’s actually done with your data are what got me to quit it. Don’t even bother with Strong PRO -For what little it did track (in this case, workout tallies), the app inexplicably stopped syncing (and this is from someone who only uses their phone). I lost 6 months of data without any reason, and it’s not recoverable

  8. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Was a great app/ now doesn’t work. I have done over 1000 workouts on Strong and now watch and phone will not work together. All software is updated. Rebooted both multiple times. It has been a couple weeks and I’m about to go find a new app.

  9. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Regret.. This is one of those apps that I genuinely regret spending money on and waiting for them to improve or add features from their roadmap, that still haven’t appeared years later. I just launched the Apple Watch app, now I have to sign in on the Apple Watch app as if it’s some completely disconnected thing from my phone, I use a password manager and my password is about 16 digits long, common letters, capital letters, numbers, and special characters, that I have to type manually on the tiny Apple Watch screen. Even when using iOS keyboard to type, I can’t copy and paste the password. I mean, who the hell designed an app where you have to enter a password and a username on a 40 millimeter screen. The app is supposed to be a companion app, it’s like every other fitness company can get this figured out, but these guys.

  10. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Terrible Apple Watch connection. What do you mean I have to start my workout on my watch for I to see my progress there? Literally every other workout app allows you to start it for the phone and then continue seeing your progress on the watch app

  11. ★★★★data, history or progress disappears

Absolute Fkn Garbage. App used to be great. Had everything you needed and made getting the pro version a good investment. Now they’ve just been screwing it up for the past few months. Constant sync issues every workout. Constant glitching, freezing, and clashing. Failing to track workouts. The workout I had yesterday wasn’t recorded at all in my history despite have completed it and refreshed multiple times on my watch. Last week the app even completely deleted my entire workout and all of the values I had for it after I finished the workout. Don’t know what the hell the devs have been doing to make improvements when all it’s done is make things worse. Update: App is completely irredeemable now. Cant even go ten minutes into my work out before I get sync issues with my Apple Watch. I spend probably 15 minutes out of my already 3 hour workout just fixing the mismatch. Only reason I put up with this is for the convenience of having my workout on my watch, but since that’s petty much ruined, I might as well switch to another app.

  12. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Good app, but greedy. The app itself is good, with lots of workouts to pick. It even lets you set templates… for a price of course. Yet another subscription service for a workout app of all things. No thanks, I already have a million monthly subscriptions, I’m not paying you monthly for a glorified notes app

  13. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Ai puts STRONG to rest. I’ve wrestled with the thought of buying Strong’s monthly or one time subscription. I realized I could have Ai write me an app with all the same features and more custom to my needs and it does it for free. Once people realize this, Strong will have to get rid of fees or lose customers. It’s not IF but more so WHEN.

  14. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Sexism embedded in graphic design. Why are all of your icons depicting different weightlifting exercises drawn as men? There is a minority of icons that are depicting a feminine body and the icons with this body type significantly skew toward depicting ab exercises and the cable/band versions of exercises. Do better.

  15. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Can’t sync with Apple Watch. I did a lot of research and review of all the different workout tracking apps, and this one looks to be the simplest and best based on the reviews. The only problem is, I can’t get it to sync with my Apple Watch.. I want it to log the workouts I’m doing on my Apple Watch like swimming, treadmill and rowing. The troubleshooting notes are very complicated and I can watch in the app to sync

  16. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Unable to create templates with Pro subscription. I’ve been using Strong PRO for a couple years now, but today I realized that I can no longer create new templates. I just keep getting redirected to the purchase page, even after confirming that my current subscription is valid until August. Very frustrating and disappointing.

  17. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Pain to sign in on watch. I’m signed into the phone app but the watch app is making me sign in separately. Shouldn’t it auto sign into the watch app? My password is too long and difficult to type in Also after MULTIPLE more failures I figured out the issue - the username is case-sensitive! Which is ridiculous, it absolutely should not be

  18. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Workout Timer / Duration. No longer properly syncs with Apple Health after this “6.0” update. Developer doesn’t seem to care so I hope they enjoy their 1 star. 👎

  19. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

I HATE version 6.0. I’m not entirely sure why the developers made it Apple Watch centric, but I begrudgingly use the app now. I prefer to start and track the workout and sets from my phone and only have the watch analytics. Now I’ve found myself starting a workout with Apple and just using the app for tracking my sets. I’ve been a strong user for over three years and this is by far one of the worst updates. PLEASE allow user to choose how they track the workouts. Also, please stop making it automatically adding rests between the new sets. It feel like so many things went backwards in this update.

  20. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

not user friendly. this has so many highly rated reviews that I feel like this must be user error but I find this app so incredibly difficult to program. it’s not self explanatory or intuitive at all, especially when trying to sync workouts with the apple watch. it doesn’t seem like it should be that hard to program a superset that has multiple exercises and then a rest timer at the end! is that not the point of a superset??? zero stars

  21. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

No easy way to track single arm/leg movements?. I have been using this app for years. The app consistently pushes new versions, but none that include an intuitive way to track single arm/leg movements. This seems ridiculous to me, and I’ve used far less sophisticated products that have this feature.

  22. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Greedy vanilla app. 3 templates only on the free tier is highway robbery. This app is so basic and needs to reevaluate its monetization strategy. I wish they would just make it a paid app and do away with the subscription. A workout template is a simple list data structure, and they act like they have the secret sauce.

  23. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Chat gpt is better. This app is way too confusing and is outdated I’ll stick to my chat gpt and my timers instead

  24. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Needs Fix. Have been using the paid version for a few years and generally like it. But in the past few months the timer does not work properly. It does not count down properly and I will get an app push notification that the timer is up and then when I go to the app it shows the timer is still running. Sent an email to support a few weeks ago and no response. Please fix this bug.

  25. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Does not work!. The strong app does not work, even if you pay by month or by year. it will not sync and it will not let you use strong pro features. do not buy.

  26. ★★★★crashes, freezes and errors

Great until you integrate the watch. App is great for tracking and finding workouts, but the second you pair it to a watch it bugs out and either won’t sync or will cause the app to freeze up. Not a phone or watch issue, took them both in to the Apple Store to verify

  27. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Way worse now. Avoid at all costs!. App gets worse and worse with every update. Added timers to every workout that I had to manually remove. Bugs me to authenticate every single time (let me just use it offline!), now my pro membership wont work without authenticating. I’m gone.

  28. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Horrible watch integration. This is the only app I've ever used that requires a login directly on the watch despite being connected to my phone and logged in on the app. As if that wasn't bad enough, pasting in passwords doesn't work, password managers don't work. Your only option is to draw each character of your password 1 at a time on the watch. It's baffling because it's completely unnecessary. Until that's fixed it's 1 star because 0 isn’t an option.

  29. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Constant pop ups. Plz stop telling me to log in, sync, and subscribe every time I open. It’s super annoying.

  30. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Kilogram Exports?!? Terrible!!!!. After a recent update, our exported data (CSV) always lists weight in Kilograms, even though the unit set in the app is, and always has been, configurable to lbs. Unbelievable! Utterly incompetent developer for forcing us to use kilograms!
