   OnX Ruined This. Used to be a great app when REI owned it. Now OnX bought it and turned it into a nagware POS. Their own app is also a nagware wrapper around MapBox that you must pay for to see any info on any trails. Heck all these companies trying to profit from public parks and taxpayer-funded resources. Just go to OpenTrailMap.us instead. Don’t give private equity clowns more money for things you can get for free.

   Fantastic platform, terrible app. I have been a member and a user for almost a decade, and I prefer Hiking Project over other hiking platforms and apps like All Trails. Unfortunately the app became completely unusable on iPhone because it just keeps crashing. Currently running iOS 18.6.2 (22G100) and just updated the app, and even reinstalled it, to no avail. It happened with earlier versions of iOS too. Please do something about it! I would hate to switch to All Trails.

   Gone. Now that this app is bought out by OnX it’s only an ad platform for OnX. The app only show cursory info and keeps asking if you want to plan in 3D. No, I do not. I just need an easy place to search family hikes, not pay money forms access to knowledge.

   Inaccurate on vertical. Skyline Traverse, Chicago Basin 14ers, and other known summits are wrong!!!

   Fails at its only job. Downloaded maps offline, then opened the app while there’s no signals, and the app just immediately crashes every time making it useless.

    Updates?. Update 3/23, this app is basically useless now. Also seems the app is collecting more info than before it changed companies.. deleted App hasn’t been updated in over a year and when I go to update trails for CA downloaded maps it says updated 08/02/19 :(

    Potential. looks good, but idiotic synchronization for log-in. time for developer to realize it's the 1990's and there isn't a need to pop out of the app to a web interface to log-in. can't log in after multiple attempts. glad it's free...

    Neutered compared to desktop. You cannot do anything with this app except browse trails. You can’t even download GPX files. You can send a trail to your overpriced Apple Watch, but if you have any other device forget about it. It seems this absurd, no other purpose other than a springboard to the paid service, onX Backcountry. This crap app gets deleted.

    Do not rely on this app.. I have the whole country downloaded, and for the most part this app is reliable and actually has better coverage than AllTrails or other comparable apps despite being free. I was this apps biggest cheerleader until I got lost in the dark in Yosemite, and the map wouldn’t load and the app kept crashing. Even restarting my phone and the app multiple times, it refused to work. Don’t depend on this app in a situation where you may actually need it.

    Crashing and closing. The app has been crashing every time I open it in the past few days. A week ago the app worked great for a 5 mile hike through the woods with no cellular service. Today, it won’t even load fully before crashing.

    Worthless. I live in one of the best hiking areas of the country, yet the app shows zero results. Not working or can’t easily be fixed within a minute or two? No problem: DELETE. There are way too many apps in the world (and on my iPhone). The world (and my phone) are a little better every time an app is deleted.

    Closes/freezes when attempting to record a hike. App closes/freezes when attempting to record a hike. Had d/l’d the state map, no cell signal. Was able to see the trail on the app, but once I tried to start record, it just wouldn’t.

    Freezes and crashes when you need it most. Like others have said, used to be a reliable and useful app for saving offline trail maps, but now it is unusable as the app constantly freezes and crashes and offline maps do not stay saved

    Used to be good. This app used to be reliable. Now everytime I open it all of my downloaded maps are deleted and I have to redownload them. You also can't favorite anything without registering a stupid account. I don't want to signup for your service, just charge for the app through IAP or make it free. This app is too unreliable to trust anymore so I'll be deleting it. Apple is supposed to be adding trails and offline maps to the Maps app anyway. Goodbye to this trash.

    Not useful. Downloaded it, 12 trails right here and it doesn’t count any of them as check-ins and you couldn’t search for them if you wanted to

    Not recommended. Elevation stats for a hike are way off. For example, did a hike the other day with elevation gain less than 500 feet, this app shows about 2500 feet gain, what? And don’t seem to be able to review previous hikes even though they seem to be saved by the app.

    Save your time and space on your phone and stick to alltrails. Downloaded app with full hope that it would be better than AllTrails. I downloaded all of California and Colorado. Trails showed up for about a minute before disappearing. I did the sync process multiple times afterwards and even closed out the app all together to get the trails to show up again.
