  1. ★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Incomplete app - give a few years before it’s a real app. This app appears to be in the beginning stages of creating it. They made it marginally look better by hiring a graphic designer though. The functionality for mental health is negligible. As it currently stands, this app is useless for any mental condition. I don’t know why this one is being labeled as “bipolar” when it is almost exactly like the other mood apps out there. There is no difference between the apps in this regard.

  2. ★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

No Saved Data - Doesn’t Save Patreon. So I paid for the full version for a year! I got a new phone non of my data saved. The Dropbox back up confused me and you can’t open it on your phone. When I asked for my patreon membership back it took weeks for them to give me a promo code to finally get what I paid for back up. I don’t know if I’ll trust it with my data again. This is something so personal I’m sad it’s gone.

Patron fee scam alert! I was charged 4x the amount I agreed too. 😔. Really, really upset! Despite my current financial struggles I made a decision to become a patron given string advocacy of a close friend who shares my mental health challenges. At confirmation I acknowledged the $9.99 per year fee to become a patron. For me right now this was the max fee I would have agreed too. Too my shock, I was charged $41!! Is this some kind of sick scam preying in people suffering from mental illness?

  4. ★★★★accessibility and assistive-technology issues

Lack of UI customizability renders unusable. The default font size is so small that I cannot use the app without meaningful eye strain. The app needs to allow for some customization of typeface (e.g., increase font size) for users of varying visual abilities.

  5. ★★★★★saving, exporting or sharing the result fails

Cannot export .csv. Instructions say there is a convoluted way to export to .csv. What you end up with are 6 separate files with code readable (non human) data. Makes the app worthless for me. Contacted support multiple times they didn’t answer my concern.

  6. ★★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Issue with today’s notes not saving. Overall I really love this app, BUT I noticed now that somewhat often my log notes aren’t saving? This is a feature I use every day and is crucial in helping me keep everything in one place, I’m even subscribed because it’s such a wonderful tool for me. I emailed support so once the issue is figured out, I’ll update to 5 stars.

  7. ★★★★★privacy and excessive permissions

weirdly and unnecessarily lacking but still better than others. overall I’ve found this app to be pretty ok on free version but some significant features are missing which are present in their Wellness app targeted at the more norm core mental health crowd so that is pretty disappointing. I like the privacy & email export features, the easy input & graph tracking. The withheld features (more below) make this feel less a tool for folks like me and more a way to shunt us problem children off away from the more lucrative wellness crowd unless we pony up and customize this eMoods app to have the same features already present in the other existing Wellness app. NB: their Wellness app also doesn’t have the same type of mood, therapy & symptoms tracking reflective of BP, BPD & schizophrenic spectrum needs so switching over wholesale also doesn’t work (and loses any previous tracking continuity). – why are things like hygiene, social/family contact, outside time, exercise, alcohol use and such not included in eMoods classic which is intended for folks with severe mental health issues (per your ad copy) and for whom these are literally hallmark symptoms/needs? moon tracking is cool and all but these would definitely be like more concretely useful (though I'm in camp why not both). I'd be happy to pay to support but I feel like actually necessary things are being purposely or very thoughtlessly withheld from the free version of the more severe mental health app eMoods which disadvantages some of the already most disadvantage folks in the mental health community (who often don't have $$ to spare) – and so it kind of makes me reticent to support their group, and also makes their app insanely less useful (as demonstrated by features present in…their other app) all in all, I'm confused why the wellness app for general public has more cross-sectioned severe mental health symptoms to track than the one aimed at folks with bipolar & schizophrenia spectrum disorders?? really not looking for a form answer here. really do want to hear why this is the case AND what they are going to do to fix this, and soon since the app framework has clearly already been built to support this…in their other app.

  8. ★★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Not a big fan of the graphs. I downloaded quite a few mood apps to see which ones I liked better. I’m not the biggest fan of this one’s graphs. Others I’ve seen show a line graph while this shows bar graphs. Other apps also allow you to add notes for free while this one you have to pay to add a note.

  9. ★★★★★negative experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Love this App, tons of bugs. Any time I try to edit my medications, it freezes the entire screen & won’t allow me to do anything at all. Would love if this could get fixed

  10. ★★★★★subscription and paid restrictions

Good, but medication tracking is flawed. I don’t know about you, but my medications change often, especially the dosages. Perplexingly, while there is a way to change the dosage for a particular day, that change doesn’t stick. The next day the dosage will be the same as you put in when you set it up. The only way to have it default to your new dosage is to edit the settings. Almost a dealbreaker for me, but I paid for it so I guess I’m stuck.

  11. ★★★★★crashes, freezes and errors

Email Wrap not working. For some reason e-mailing my WRAP plan function is not working. Please help.

  12. ★★★★★mixed experience without a specific reason· unspecific

Chart is hard to understand. Bar graphs would be better. I would like bar graphs better .

  13. ★★★★★a needed feature is missing

Work with health app. I wish it could be integrated with the iOS health app but otherwise it seems pretty cool

  14. ★★★★overall positive experience· unspecific

Add menstrual cycle. I wish there was an option to track your cycle to see how your mood and episodes align. This would be helpful for me and so many women. To have the moon cycle and not our body’s?? Hope to see this in the next update! I want to know when I’m in my luteal phase! Fingers crossed :)

  15. ★★★★overall positive experience· unspecific

Almost perfect app. I would love if the app developers put a medication tracking feature for meds that need to be taken multiple times a day 😬

  16. ★★★★overall positive experience· unspecific

iPhone and iPad Compatibility. Great app. Unless I’m missing something though, the iPhone doesn’t read the data I input into my iPad and vice versa. I paid for the “premium” version.

  17. ★★★★overall positive experience· unspecific

Love it except one thing.. I love this app! I love how easy it is to use. I really enjoy being able to look back and see trends in my mood and being able to set custom monitoring points is amazing! I just wish that the 30 day report looked different. It’s confusing and hard to read tbh. It just looks like a bunch a little numbers in a bunch of little boxes. I think the report should look more like the graphs in the app that the user sees. Or maybe implement a feature where you can select which report template you want to use for premium members? Otherwise it really is an outstanding app.

  18. ★★★★overall positive experience· unspecific

Almost perfect. The only improvement this app could use is more options than “none , mild, moderate and severe.” These just aren’t enough to cover the whole spectrum of a mood disorder. Either a 0-10 system or just one more option would greatly improve the quality of the app. Otherwise, this app is amazing and is tremendous for tracking mood disorders .

  19. ★★★★overall positive experience· unspecific

Great App!. I don’t have bipolar disorder, but this app has been very useful in tracking my moods in general. One suggestion I have is to add a place where I can scroll through all my daily notes without having to back-search each day. I would also appreciate the option to rank mood on more than a 4-point scale. It’s a little confusing that even when you rank “none,” the bar moves forward a bit, making it appear that you actually did experience symptoms. Otherwise a useful app and I do think the extra features are fairly priced and worth the cost. Will continue to use!

Free Data Visualization Advice. Looks great but every graph’s x-axis should go from right to left, not left to right. It would be five stars otherwise.

  21. ★★★★overall positive experience· unspecific

Amazing App would recommend. I’ve tried every other mood tracking app that I could find or saw an ad for on social media, and this is the best one I’ve ever used. It’s really in-depth and I like how you can change it up until the day ends. The only note I have is that adding another little thing for tracking self harm and thoughts of self harm would be really nice.

  22. ★★★★overall positive experience· unspecific

Amazing app and support. Just two problems.. I’ll start with the problems, because the rest are positives. First, if the desktop and mobile versions were identical, there wouldn’t be a problem having no connection between the two. However, I have found the desktop version to be better in a few ways, but mainly tracking moods multiple times a day (a big thing for me in particular. It’s common for me to go from highly elevated to severely anxious several times a day). If the roadmap contains the addition of these features then this app would be a 100/10. Absolutely perfect. The second and last gripe is the 1-4 scale, and the “not/able to work” designation of severity. 1-4 isn’t precise enough for my mood swings and probably the same for many others. And being able to work is subjective. The tolerance to moods and feelings can vary greatly from person to person. And on the the good things: literally everything. Such an easy format to understand, highly customizable even with the free sub (the pro sub is dirt cheap too), and effortless to use. My favorite app. It’s not just for bipolar, anyone with mood/emotional/mental difficulties can benefit greatly from this app, and seeing the data is very informative. The support was beyond amazing. Stayed in touch many times a day to work out an issue and was extremely clear in their instructions. 8/10 love the app and getting at lease one of the two problems will make it perfect IMO.

Deleting old meds. I love this app but i would like to see something that we can edit or medications as they change.

  24. ★★★★overall positive experience· unspecific

Good for tracking. Good for keeping track of what it offers. It would be nice if it had a general category where you could customize what you track.

  25. ★★★★overall positive experience· unspecific

Love it. Would be better if integrated with Apple health.. I have to go to different apps to get some of the info. If it was integrated with Apple health, it could fill in those thinks for me - weight, sleep, etc.

  26. ★★★★overall positive experience· unspecific

Great App. I love this app - it’s the best mood tracker I have used. The only thing I wish it had is menstrual cycle tracking as I know this has a big effect on my mood and it would be helpful to differentiate what is menstrual cycle related vs mood cycling.

  27. ★★★★the free version provides real value

Overall good. This is a nice app and I find myself using it more than I expected. It’s simple. I’m happy that the free version lets me track everything I need right now. The only things I’d like to see is if medications would reset each day instead of showing I took them when I haven’t yet. I’d also love if sleep tracking would let you specify if your sleep was interrupted, for how long, or if you had a full night of sleep. Overall, this is a helpful app.

  28. ★★★★overall positive experience· unspecific

Love it - but.... This app is a total game-changer, but I wish the info could be automatically updated across all linked iOS / iPad / iPhone devices. It would make life so much easier!!

  29. ★★★★overall positive experience· unspecific

Great app, but.... I wish there was a way to set the medication dosage to temporarily change. For example, if I typically take 100mg but my psychiatrist wants me to take 150mg for four weeks, I can’t go into the medication list and change it to 150 because then it changes every single historical instance from 100 to 150. And then I forget to manually enter “150” every day for four weeks. So I wish there was a way to tell the app that you are changing the dose for four weeks or whatever, instead of permanently.

  30. ★★★★overall positive experience· unspecific

Great App. This app is fantastic and gives you options to track so many things! Would love the ability to choose the option for the report to be represented in one line graph for anxiety, irritability, etc so its easier to see the ups and downs vs just numbers on the data.
